MIDWAY, Ga. – Members of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Savannah District participated in a STEM Career Expo at Midway Middle School to encourage more than 800 students to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). If any of you railroad buffs remember watching 'There Goes A Train' and "Train Songs For Kids". Well, here's a drawing of the actual Engineer Bob (the same one that stopped the train in the scene where Dave (Dave Hood) told him to stop, because a car was on the tracks). Anyway, if you look up 'Bob Nickles' on Google you may find him on there or if you Google 'San Diego Railroad Museum' you will see a gallery sign and when you click on the gallery sign there are catergories that say 'Our People' and there you will find: Engineers, Brakemen, Conductors, Motor Cars, Mechanics, and Memoriam. You will only find Engineer Bob in Engineers, Brakemen and Mechanics. Anyway, here's another thing, if you click on the FAQ link on the website click on Couplers and you find his name click on it and you will hear him say 'Hi, I'm Engineer Bob!' Hope you like it, also I paused the video and drew Bob freehand. Please comment and favorite if you would like to!
In a very prominent location, makes sense as civil engineers were pretty much responsible for the construction of all manners of roads, railways, bridges etc. during the colonial era.

During the WWI period commemorative china was popular among the lower middle classes and upper working classes in the UK.
This Arcadian candleholder carries the Arms of the Royal Engineers with the motto of the RE ' Honi soit qui mal y pense ' and their battle honour ' Ubique ' [ Latin for 'everywhere' ].

"Although you are a small unit, you have left a big mark." These were the words spoken today by Lt. Col. Mostafiz, the Bangladesh Engineering Company Commander, during the UN medal ceremony held in Juba to recognize the contributions of 260 engineers during their year-long tour with the United Nations Mission in South Sudan. Through their toil and sacrifice, the company has carried out more than 100 infrastructure projects to benefit the people of South Sudan, such as the rehabilitation of 125km of the Mvolo-Mundri road and construction of new facilities in UNMISS sites across the country.

this is a terrible and quickly taken picture, but it captures josie's absolute joy at one of her favorite gifts, a train whistle, hat and scarf. josie loooooves trains, and insisted on bringing all three to bed with her, and wearing them to school today as well. and, you might as well get to wear your engineer hat to school when you are two.
also, thank you! alice for the gift, and also- ow! that big old train whistle hurts if you are bopped with it at four in the morning when your daughter has a croupy cough and won't leave her train whistle in HER bed when you bring her into YOUR bed to keep a closer eye on her poor little coughing head.
Flood waters continue to rise in Conway, S.C., impacting surrounding cities and neighborhoods to include Myrtle Beach, S.C., Sept. 25, 2018. South Carolina National Guard Engineers and Transportation Corps placed sandbags along Highway 501 to ensure roadways remain passable and communities are not cut-off on the main route to highly populated Myrtle Beach, S.C. They have laid nearly three miles of barrier protecting a mile and a half of road with sandbags and flood barriers to keep the road open from flooding. There are approximately 2,000 South Carolina Guards Soldiers and Airmen are currently on duty to support local authorities in response and recovery operations to the ongoing flooding in that followed Hurricane Florence's landfall. U.S. National Guard Soldiers and Airmen from Pennsylvania, Alaska, New York, Tennessee, Arkansas, Maryland, Virginia, Mississippi and Georgia are also supporting the S.C. Soldiers assigned to the Rocky Mount-based 229th Chemical Company take first place in the squad competition for the Petersburg-based 276th Engineer Battalion, 91st Troop Command held Aug. 19-20, 2016, at Fort Pickett. Virginia. Events in the competition included a written knowledge test specific to a Soldier's military specialty, weapons disassembly, assembly and functions check, night land navigation, six-mile ruck march and situation training lanes focused on reacting to enemy contact and reacting to an improvised explosive device. Rich was the Engineer of Engine 18 on the 3rd shift. We came on the job together and I am sorry to say he died of a heart attack soon after this picture that I took of him. A real nice guy
Gordon Murray and his gang at McLaren pushed the engineering as far as they could with the F1. They used gold leaf linings in the engine and exhaust compartments to reflect the heat away from other parts of the car. What would be bling on another car is hard at work on the F1 -- and hidden away.

An epic trip - 6-hours, 30-miles from Ouray to Lake City, Colorado - with rough rocky patches, switchbacks, shelf roads, and sweeping vistas all the way, reaching almost 13,000 feet at the summit. A Jeep Badge of Honor trail for good reason.
From TrailsOffroad.com: In the late 1800’s, miners started digging for gold, silver, lead and other ore in the San Juan Mountains. They needed a way to get people and the ore out to the nearby towns. Those roads left by the long-abandoned mines are now some of the most famous off-road trails in the books. Engineer Pass, a 30-mile trail, is one of them and is part of a trail now known as the Alpine Loop.
There are multiple mine ruins to view and explore the grounds of along the way including the Hard Tack Mine and the Michael Breen Mine.
Mile after mile provides new and more amazing views of Colorado and the San Juan mountains. Oh Point and the official summit have breath-taking panoramas of the mountains.
This trail goes well above the timberline at just over 12,900’. With the altitude comes stunning views of the mountains to the north including the Uncompahgre, Coxcomb, Wetterhorn and Wildhorse mountain peaks. The view is so expansive at Oh Point that on a very clear day, you might be able to see all the way to Utah if you turn your eyes to the west.
