Hand-embroidered pillow cases apparently were always to beautiful to be used by their original owners and they often end up at estate and rummage sales. Monica too had a stash and no one seemed to want them. We took them all and vowed to use and enjoy them.

Old low-rise boot-fit corduroys from the Gap.
Old sports-shop wool socks.
And those vintage $2 leather Air Force boots from the garage sale this weekend.

It appears that I am starting to use Flickr as something like a fashion blog — is this the best place to be putting such content, I wonder?
I found an old embroidered linen tablecloth (130 x 160 cm) from second-hand store . I was surprised when I saw at home that piece of flower-chaplet is not finished. Needle and yarn was sticked in the fabric too!!! The original grey-brown-ivory colours are so calm and elegant, but finally I desided not to try to copy the original colours. I made the last piece of embroidery more colourful. Don't you feel that life in the past (more than 30 years ago) was black-and-white (like in old photos) and present (your life) is more variegated?

Sometimes you're not sure what to do with embroidery designs you like. How about a potholder? I transferred the cake design and then stitched as I saw fit. Some bright scraps, more practice free motion quilting, and a perfect cheery accent to a wintery kitchen.
Just made this "Alice Brooks tree" vintage pattern into an ornamental little cushion. I am a total amateur but I find embroidery to be such a fulfilling pastime.
