I am surrounded by natural leaves at home in my house and garden, but had trouble finding any man-made ones! I'm hoping that this bit of embroidery by my Aunty Gertie many years ago will do, even though it's "woman-made" - HSoS!

Needlework is becoming a lost art...

Inspired by soulemama's amazing quilt here! Blogged here!

Each circle is about 5.5" (14cm) diameter.

Niqui has been practicing more hand embroidery, this time Spider-Web stitch with Lazy Daisy stitch surround interspersed with French Knots ..

The whole piece is only 3cm across so there's some fine stitching in there ..

This is the club crest for the team that I follow, Newcastle United Football Club, and the embroidered stitch is far more appealing than the transfers they now use on club shirts. Howay the Lads and HMM

had I the heaven's embroidered cloths

enwrought with golden and silver light

the blue and the dim and the dark cloths

of night and light and the half light

I would spread the cloths under your feet:

but I, being poor, have only my dreams

I have spread my dreams under your feet ;

tread softly because you tread on my dreams.

Details from Dark Uncles by Belgian artist Klaas Rommelaere.

The uncles, large dolls, are all embroidered in cross-stitches.

On display at Gallery 38CC in Delft NL.

This is a small purse that I bought several years ago from Ten Thousand Villages. It's the perfect size for carrying just my phone, license and keys.

One star from a United States flag.

Star is ~2" (5cm) point-to-point horizontally.

Strobist: single strobe aimed slightly across the flag from the left to bring out the texture of the cloth and star.

I embroidered this little scene on a sweet and soft Tilda-wool-felt in baby-pink

I embroidered this for my friend Shane, and the part is this looks like her :)

I have a thing about people-faced deer. I lurves them.

More experimenting with embroidery. This is very simple. Just backstitch and sort of sashiko style for the spots on the body.

I got too into making the tiniest stitches possible before I realized it actually didn't look that good and made the lines look really wobbly. Oops! Oh well. ^o^
