Did you know you can machine embroider right on paper? All it takes is the right kind of paper and the right kind of embroidery, and a little know how. Stitch your sweetheart a little handmade card right on your machine!

year 2002 I knitted the cardigan and hat for 10" ann estelle and embroidered it to match the dress - so so country.
This one has weird feet. Maybe her shoes are hurting her. Or...she's stepped in some dog poo and is trying to wipe it off....?

Rahima (left) - a master embroider - has been supported by AKF to set up her own business. AKF provided Rahima with the initial materials to get the business running. She now employs 10 women who help clean the wool, prepare the dyes and are learning the craft. Her pieces are sold in local markets and exhibited in Khujand in northern Tajikistan. Rahima learnt the craft from her mother (right). Her daugter is in the middle. In Murghab, AKF supports several groups like these. Not only do these women earn an income through these activities but they are also helping reshaping the role of women and their perceived value within their communities.

I found this pillow cover in the As Is room, I've been dying to find it and it's been sold out forever. It's such a cozy, crafty, nice winter feeling pillow. The wool is a lovely heather gray, and the embroidery is so colorful.
I embroidered this lowrider from changing an Aunt Martha's iron on transfer for my sister in law. I used almost all back stitch and free handed the designs along the car. I also used some matallic thread (which is a big pain in the ass). This was my second embroidery project, I wanted to keep it for myself.
I made these little shoes for my cousins baby. You had to be an octopus to hold her..she was a wiggley one, always on the go! They are microsude and fleece lined with corduroy soles to help prevent slipping.
This has been needlefelted then embroidered. Part of my new range going on my website and Love-Local website very soon.
Skirt I drew up the pattern for after reading Cal Patch´s Design it Yourself: Patternmkaing Simplified book. Not hemmed or lined yet. Although its not a pattern from the Alabama Chanin book, (which I can´t open until my birthday - darn!), the whole handstitching thing idea for me came from that book. The circle pattern idea I´ve used from Alison Willoughby´s book Sensational Skirts. I´ve just started the embroidery, and have another 4 or 5 circles to do on the skirt before its finished. I haven´t ironed it for the pic as I don´t want to be ironing the embroidery thread more than I have to...
