You may have noticed that Mabu the bull elephant has a silver cap on one of his tusks. It is essentially a tooth crown which protects his cracked tusk from the elements. It is not uncommon for rambunctious elephants to break or crack tusks.

Everything's auspicious in India, even an elephant's bum. Why are we so boring in the West?

The Asian Elephant is slightly smaller than its African relatives; the easiest way to distinguish the two is that the Asian elephant has smaller ears. The Asian Elephant tends to grow to around 2 to 3.6 metres (6.6 to 11.8 ft) in height and 3,000–5,000 kilograms (6,600–11,000 lb) in weight.

Indian Elephant (Elephas maximus indicus), one of three recognised subspecies of the Asian elephant or Asiatic elephant (Elephas maximus) and native to mainland Asia, the largest land animals alive today. Asian elephants are smaller than African elephants and have the highest body point on the head.

Elephants are abused in forced breeding programs that have good intentions but poor regulation

i went to the asheboro, NC zoo about a week ago and i just got around to putting up the pictures. i had such a fun time and i wish i could go back again really soon. this is my second zoo that i have ever been to and it was definitely a good time. i got to see animals that i have never seen before in my whole life, which was fascinating and exciting all at the same time!
