Important note: this is part of the full day experience we did at Elephant Village in Luang Prabang. It is a sanctuary for elephants who otherwise would be out "earning their keep" in logging activities, many of whom are worked to death, even if they are sick, old, or disabled. Elephants at the Metro Toronto Zoo won't be there much longer. After the tragic death of one of the heard, they are trying to move the elephants to a better facility elsewhere.

They are majestic creatures with an air of tragedy to them. It was a sad experience to see them one last time.
