The "compression effect" is something that is around us that we don't really notice that much. The weird thing that happens when viewing a landmark from a distance. Currumbin Rock shot from about 800 meters away with a 500mm lens...the distant buildings of Surfers Paradise (about 20 kms away) appear bigger relative to the rock as you walk further away....thus giving the perception that the buildings are close to the rock....move closer to the rock and they shrink
Thank you for all the comments and faves, my friends.
Mock-up band shoot with Kane and Debbie for my media coursework.
Woo! fake band shoots in golden hour!
I think they'd make an awesome band, the Butterfly Effect :)

Thank you Don.
I am so thrilled to see that so longed for GRAIN effect in nearly every edited photo today, is not necessary in this series of photos...
Contrary, it is sometimes a necessity to REDUCE NOISE rather than adding it.
With this photo (and this series) I 'danced' between leaving or taking away the grain, depending on the photo.
Every one of these photos mean something to me. It reminds me of the time I have spent in this sanctuary, where the majority of this film was shot... I can remember every positioning, trying to think what could be the best possible shot...
As this was my first film, I wanted to use my film the most optimal way, with minimum of bad photos. But I wouldn't panic about it. Or degrade myself if I fail. No! My intentions with film photography were (and are) not recognizable or tangible to my mind... But I know what I feel when I'm doing it. Pure joy. Contentment. Isn't that the most essential here?
THIS PHOTO...
also depicts 2PM-ish period (nearly same time as the previous photo in CHAPEL... we had a lunch break so I was able to take these photos carefully)...
Again, playing with the shadows and light... I must admit I think I did some arrangements of the grille to get the best looking look.. I hope you don't mind :)
This was a great challenge for me this week... having been to a few gardens lately. I'm pretty sure these are some type of flowers, and though they were 'flowering' they were all green. I really liked the effect and bokeh with the B & W.
Romain's sculpt again. Vice Effect Ollie, Integrity Toys 2015. I believe Vaughn Sawyers designed him. LE 600. Another incarnation of Romain, named Ollie this time. He wears Darius glasses.
The Moon effect.
Apparently tree stems/trunks are affected by the moons gravitational pull...
.. this one is taking things a bit too far and really branching out.
This is a effect on efffect on effect. Really this has much work on the original painting. A greting to all from Bogota. ...
Experiment in tilt-shift effect on the picture of a car on fire in Brussels, for a blogpost at houbi.com/?p=623.
This was when bystanders and a police patrol that was in the neighbourhood tried to put out the fire. They only had a little bit of success when they pulled out the firehose from my office building onto the street. But the fire kept coming back. Then the firemen arrived.
The orginal picture (made with an Iphone btw) is this one.
The steps are as in this tutorial.

"Unkempt Lawn" - 13/52 - 52 Weeks of 2016.
I'm not quite sure I accomplished the effect in photoshop quite correctly. I have some excuses as to why I didn't get something better, but aside from some lousy weather when I had the time, I just got lazy. These are actually some "weeds" growing in the yard, near the edge of the street, as I haven't had the opportunity to mow the lawn yet. The rain had just let up and there wasn't going to be much more time/light, so I chose something easy after I couldn't find a nicer set of flowers or some other subject.
I tried some different tutorials, but ultimately decided to pull the clarity way down in Camera RAW, then I used a (recently made free) Nik Effects "Glamour Glow" plugin and adjusted the blending modes and opacity levels to taste.
