Image 85 in this fun series of the capturing of the BULB capture. This capture is taken at Middle River in Maryland showing the smoothed clouds and smoothed out water surface.
This series allows the viewer to see conditions as they were during the shot, and then the resulting long exposure effect on the water and clouds. It also shows how people moving about 'vanish' from the long exposure.
For this moment in time I am displaying the long exposure taken on the right side (796 seconds long), and the conditions that were during this time can be seen on the capture to the left showing the BULB capture being taken. It was actually pretty interesting watching the sky change tones and colors during that 800 seconds and the resulting combination obtained on the sensor.

This beautiful comma butterfly was today fluttering around my garden here in good old Bristol.
It was a small one compared with many others I have seen recently.
Maybe it's a juvenile ?
There has been a shortage of butterflies so far this summer, but things are eventually improving and more are arriving daily .... and that's just brilliant as I really like butterflies fluttering around my garden flowers!

"A ripple effect occurs when an initial disturbance to a system propagates outward to disturb an increasingly larger portion of the system, like ripples expanding across the water when an object is dropped into it."
This is not just a duck in a pond at sunset. It is a symbol of a phenomenon that we have all experienced directly in 2020. At one level the COVID-19 virus spread from one part of the world to everywhere very quickly like ripples on a pond. But not just the virus. The follow on effects of lock downs, loss of freedoms, jobs, security, pressure on medical systems, collapsing economies, all point to the ripple effect.
But ripple effects are not all bad either. In fact the same principle can lead to rapid solutions and even the healing of the world's woes. If we can find a way to create positive solutions to enhance the eco-system of our planet things can get better. But the choice is ours.

- Hotsampling (SRWE)❖Downsampled from ~21MP
This tiny rover is built around the idea, if it's possible to stick the wheels directly to the bracket thingy (bricklink is down for maintenance, so I cannot look the part number up) - yes, it works with a short pin-with-stud.
The rest is just "keep it small" and the speed effect is simple rain.

Back to my post from yesterday for HSoS.
First of all, I would like to thank all the lovely Flickrities for the wonderful comments on yesterday's topic - title wanted - , everyone could have been right.
In my tags I announced that there would be a second photo, actually I should have posted it the other way around, but then the story would be a lie :)
On an autumn walk I suddenly heard a noise and it was anything but heavenly. The little rascal growled violently and it sounded like this: "Don't dare to come closer, or my huge friend will hug you" :-) and indeed, there he was! I then went on quickly ;-))
Can you see it? It wasn't predictable, the Labrador Effect ;-)))

The two dogs are very happy and live and guard on a small horse farm, with adjoining small pond, a paradise for anglers. I'm only sad myself because I couldn't stroke them.
My better half loves photographing water - and particularly reflections in water. If there is a puddle, stream, or anything larger around, I'll always know where to find her. I seem to gravitate more to landscapes but on this occasion I took her lead as we precariously climbed down among some very slippery rocks on the edge of fast flowing rapids. I didn't see it at first but when using a longer lens, it didn't take long for the fall colors of the trees on the opposite shore to reveal themselves in the shaded parts of the water. There was even a bit of blue from the sky, The end result looked like someone had daubed a brush into the colors of an artists palette and painted broad strokes over the water. I was hooked on the Lynket Effect and we spent over an hour photographing on that one spot.
