Taken from our room's balcony at Fairmont resort in British Columbia, Canada.
Because of the long exposure you can see some of the wind effect on the outer branches of the trees.

Went out for a walk today along a part of the dutch coast line. It was very windy and the water was very wild, which gave a very pleasant effect with the long exposure (a lot of contrast in the water) This edit took me just 5 minutes in Lightroom because the basis was already really good and I already pictured the end result when I was taking the shot :-)

When you compare the young Silver Banksia flower to its mature expression, you could almost think they were two separate plants. They are very complex forms and capture the sun beautifully to enhance their growth.
Photo Note: You'll notice the narrow depth of field here was achieved at f/8 with my 120mm zoom. That is quite deliberate. I didn't want use f/4 because of the bright sunlight. But here one can use the foreshortening effect of the zoom lens to achieve the same result and get the correct exposure. Focus is also sharper at f/8 with this lens, so win-win.

Sunrise over the northern side of Little Bay, Sydney. What initially looked like a pretty bland sky suddenly generated some lovely light as the sun peaked, and an incoming tide provided some nice water flow over the shelf.

The blows of the judge's mallet reverberated throughout the room. The Secretary of State - Guy K. Wyndzon - walked the length of the hall and stood ceremoniously beside the judge, as if he were only just now revealing the important diplomatic determination of the High Council. As a matter of fact, Guy, the judge, and King Fernado himself had been up late last night, trifling delicately with a bit of freshly imported chocolate while they cracked jokes about "those weird Mardierians."
No, this declaration came as no surprise to the judge. Nor would it come as a surprise to any of the diplomats, councillors, and ambassadors in the room.
But for forms' sake, all things had to be done "decently and in order," so the judge was ready and present to pronounce the official declaration of war against Mardier.
Then came the usual invitation to the agrieved of the Kingdom to present themselves before the supreme judge of the land for redress. This was usually just a form too.
But this time, something was different. An older gentleman, with a monocle in his left eye, walked briskly up the red rug. Directly in front of the judge, he stopped and bowed slightly.
The judge recognized his good friend Rhys Thomson, and took the missive the latter offered him without hesitation. But as he read, he became manifestly more nervous and excited. At last he looked up at Rhys in surprise. "Is this true?" he queried, in a voice very different from his usual business-like tone.
"Every word of it, sir!"
The judge fidgeted - drummed his fingers - then, picking up the mallet, declared, "Your case is heard! The warrant for his arrest will go forth immediately. Expect another summons to present your evidence within two month's time!"
Rhys bowed again with a satisfied smile, and retreated down the rug once more.
The "Butterfly Effect", or more technically the "sensitive dependence on initial conditions", is the essence of chaos.
"Ripple Effect:" Standing alongside one of the fast-flowing rapids of the Colorado River down in the Grand Canyon, seen splashing along towards the middle of the image, I became aware of some ripples in the sand below the water's surface near the shoreline. I kept having to move further back as the water level was rising throughout this particular evening and overnight. It was interesting to study how the changing flows of water affected not just our ride on the rafts, but the scenery surrounding the river.
I have this Russian Helios 44-2 lens that has been sitting on my shelf for quite some time. As I was planning to go to Yosemite to check out its Fall foliage, I figured I should bring the Helios to see for myself its swirly bokeh to its maximum effect. When I arrived at the first bridge crossing over the Merced River, I spotted a group of tree on the roadside that have already turned golden yellow. I carefully aimed my camera at this single leaf illuminated by the sun behind to avoid any flare from the lens. I think I like what the Helios can produce!

This is my last photograph taken + editted for my Photography course I took in Summer 2019. It was so much fun experimenting with equipment I never thought I'd have the chance too, as well as discovering a passion I had that I didn't even know existed! I still have my phone camera (IPhone 7) that I'll be taking photographs with, hopefully I'll still be able to post some more once I have access to Photoshop (or just post them unedited, that also works!)
