The War Cemetery another place of historic interest. It was built on the first half of the decade of 50s, located in hillside sloping place in the southwest corner of Chittagong Medical College Hospital. It contains the graves of 755 soldiers of the Allied Forces who laid down their lives on the Indo-Burmese front during World War II. Most of the soldiers buried there were from Australia, Britain, Canada, East and West Africa, British India and New Zealand. The total area of the cemetery is eight acres and it is protected and maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.

There is an open field and beautiful garden just outside the cemetery. The whole scenery and environment of the area is eye-catching, solemn and tranquil at the same time.

This was looking past an old croft ruin at Scorradale over part of Orkney's sheltered "Scapa Flow" anchorage towards low-lying Graemsay and hilly Hoy islands. Beyond them was an attractive early February sunset.

An unusual combination of coloured bricks over shops on Market Jew Street, Penzance. The combination of cream brick with brown and green glazed detailing around the windows is certainly eyecatching.

Sometimes...you just have to give reality a helping hand...right?

This is a view I took going down an escalator on the London Underground. There are lots of great converging lines (which is why I took the shot in the first place)...but it doesn't really work as a colour shot (because there wasn't much)...and while it was better as a black and white...it was still less than compelling.

So...with several layers, layer masks and blending modes...I think this is a little more eyecatching? If London Underground would like to hire me as a design consultant...er....well...I'll not hold my breath on that one! ;-)

This is a ring made in a modern and unique design; it is a magical raw Amethyst stone and sterling silver that are melting together with an urban look.

I wanted the ring to look contemporary and a bit urban but still keep a stylish touch. I made the sterling around the rough Amethyst in a design to match the stone and clean out the lines between stone and metal.

The Amethyst is in a gorgeous purple color; clear in the top and more frosted in the bottom; it also includes some matrix.

These are four different window stars that I've made. The top two stars are single stars, and the two lower ones are like two-stars-in-one.

The one on the lower left hand corner (the green one) has an inner star with darker green paper, and on outer star of lighter green paper. Though the light green star points aren't connected to one another on the back, it is like doing two separate stars to create this one.

The window star in the lower right hand corner is a combination of two different stars. The 16-point star is done in gold paper and the 8-point star is made from yellow paper.

A real eyecatching b-double rolls through town after a day at Wakefield Park motor racing track.

When I called in at the Reader Rock Garden last Wednesday, 7 May 2014, many plants were beginning to push their leaves up through the soil. Not many were actually in flower yet, just a few scattered clusters of the early spring flowers, Hepatica and Squill. Just as I was about to leave, something brilliant red caught my eye. When I walked over to take a look, I realized which plant it was, but at the time couldn't remember the name. Ornamental Rhubarb, also called Chinese Rhubarb, is a very tall plant and quite spectacular. This macro shot shows that it starts off in an eye-catching way, too.

"Chinese rhubarb is a close relative of garden rhubarb (Rheum X hybridum), which is used to make pies. While garden rhubarb is cultivated for its edible, succulent, red stems, Chinese rhubarb is grown purely as an ornamental plant. Its dark red stems and large, textured leaves make a bold statement in the garden, and a well-grown plant can be 6 feet across. Chinese rhubarb blooms in early summer, thrusting skyward a 6-foot spike of red flowers."

Andamooka is an opal mining town north of Roxby Downs in outback South Australia. There are several little museums and opal showrooms to have a browse through. The Long Bus is certainly eyecatching but was closed when I visited.

(2012) 365 Day Project Day 188

The main aim for my son and I today was to take some train blurring shots, which did not work out too well, as evidenced by the earlier shot, but managed to get this one of an area of yellow flowers. I think these plants are weeds but when they flower they are extremely eyecatching. Not sure if this shot really works but I quite like the simplicity and the dash of colour. I have complained previously about the recent weather, and how we are looking forward to Spring, well this is an early taste of the colours we can look forward to in a couple of months. There were actually quite large areas of these weeds along the side of the train line.

The facade of the house at Kurhausplatz 62 at Bad Aussee is painted with interesting motifs and houses at the ground floor with the company Rastl a shop for traditional Ausseeer garb as well as fabrics for it. It doesn't appear in the list of heritage-protected buildings and has probably no worth telling history, but is nevertheless an eyecatcher at the plaza Kurhausplatz.
