It seems that Indian women almost always bear some load on their head. At least when I look through my images. It must be that it's something eyecatching for a westerner.
Probably Buckiella undulata which is comon west of the Cascades and stands out for its size and pale green color. View large to see the wavey leaves

In true fashion, one of my talents came into play yesterday when I went to Brown-Lowery Provincial Park yesterday. There is just the very occasional wooden map sign and I always triple (at least!) check that I am going in the right direction. Well, don't ask me how I managed it, but I ended up going deeper into the forest in the opposite direction to where I thought I was going. I really do have such a dreadful sense of direction! However, if I hadn't taken a wrong turn, I would never have seen a patch of several of these gorgeous red mushrooms! They were very approximately 4" or 5" diameter. Russula emetica, also called "The Sickener", as it is poisonous.
For the first time since 2019, the London Marathon was back in its traditional springtime slot. It covered some of the capital’s most eyecatching landmarks, such as Cutty Sark, Tower Bridge and the Mall where these pictures were taken.

Stagecoach East Midlands and Hull School of Art and Design collaborated to produce a special identity for one of their vehicles to celebrate the City of Culture status in 2017, the idea for this eyecatching handprint design being devised by Lauren Jones, a graphics design student in the City.

I could see that this young girl was really enjoying reaching the unexpected heights that the elasticated ropes on this unusual jumping apparatus was enabling her to achieve.
When she landed on the circular blue and red base it appeared to be a spring-loaded trampoline that would catapult her into the air again!

The first pair is of a really eye-catching oceanfront resort in Gulf Shores with its office front and center. I really enjoyed capturing photographs of the resort in many different ways ... #etbtsy

An original hand-made 5" x 7" cyanotype print from Gulf Shores, Alabama. Chemically printed on a hand-coated watercolor paper (Shizen Design Professional Grade Cold Press 100% Recycled) using the cyanotype process invented in 1842, then bleached and toned in wine tannin.
Polymer Clay Beads, black and a firework of colors are eyecatching. The textured surface is reminding a little bit to the surface of moth wings...

Took this photo from the car when we called in at one of several farms during the annual Cochrane Wildlife Reserve Christmas Bird Count (NW of Calgary), on 28 December 2012. Needless to say, a beautiful Great Horned Owl sitting in one of the windows would have been a real bonus, lol.
I think I've done five 2012 Christmas Counts now - feels like a lot more, ha! - with just another two to do. The killer for me is having to set my alarm clocks for around 4:00 a.m. and ending up getting maybe a couple of hours sleep the night before each one. However, I really enjoy taking part in these annual Audubon Counts, and we have been so lucky with the weather this year. Of course, I now have hundreds of photos to go through, edit, and get passed on to a pile of birding people. I'm also almost out of space on my computer, so I really need to start backing-up more old files so they can be deleted. By the way, this is the 113th Annual Audubon Christmas Bird Count, so it has been going on for more than a century!
Yesterday's Count was in and around Nanton, SW of Calgary. I was picked up at 6:45 a.m. and eventually got home around 8:15 p.m.. Three of us covered the SW quadrant of the huge circle that centred on the town of Nanton. The scenery is breathtaking, different around every corner. I absolutely love this area of Alberta! The day ended with a wonderfully welcoming evening, hosted by the Truch family! So much work had gone into preparing a delicious supper, that was thoroughly enjoyed - and most definitely appreciated!! - by everyone from several small groups that covered different quadrants of the Count circle. There really is nothing like getting together to chat and eat a wonderful meal at the end of a long day of birding : ) In case anyone is interested, the birds that the three of us saw are (thanks, Tony, for e-mailing the final total!):
Rough-legged Hawk 5
Golden Eagle 2
Great Horned Owl 2
Sharp-tailed Grouse 77
Pigeon 80
Northern Flicker 2
Northern Shrike 1
Magpie 74
Raven 31
Black-capped Chickadee 8
American Tree Sparrow 2
Pine Grosbeak 8
Common Redpoll 175
House Sparrow 134

A very unusual period advert - almost cubist/vorticist in style - that creates a very eyecatching image. No end of visual takes exist regarding tyres - nails, speed traps - even a headless duck. It appears to be the work of an ad agency, Apex Press Ltd.
Lowland Scottish's yellow and green livery was very eyecatching and was certainly guaranteed to brighten up the drab grey streets of Edinburgh. Seen here heading out of the city on January 24th 1995 working route 62 to Melrose is Seddon Pennine / Alexander 'AT' bodied 224 (JSF 924T). This vehicle had been new to Scottish Omnibuses back in February 1979. Of interest is that this journey which ran through Peebles and Galashiels would take 2hrs 15mins from leaving the bus station in Edinburgh to arriving at Melrose Square.
An abstract view of Casa Confetti by Marlies Rohmer, which is part of 'De Uithof' or the campus of Utrecht University in The Netherlands. It features a number of striking buildings, but I think this has to be the most eyecatching.
I have another shot of it here: The Stuff That Dreams Are Made Of
You can see other my other shots of The Netherlands in (unsurprisingly) my The Netherlands set.

It tells the legend that after disappearing the figure of the virgin because of robbery, a cluster of bees (abelles in Catalan) indicated to a shepherd the exact place of the whereabouts of the virgin. And in that place the hermitage was elevated.
In this hermitage it lived in 1484 Fray Bernat Boïl, the first missionary of the Western Indians (America), who accompanied Cristobal Columbus in his second travel.

In the final days of the demolition of the building at 1000 Connecticut, the remaining tower was very eyecatching with the nearly intact top floor above the demolished lower floors.
