I love how they're all standing tall and facing the same direction.

Here is DTW's airport tunnel again but this time in green. I wish I had gone back to capture all the colours. This space is always how I imagined something in the future would be...

I decided to take this photo because the water was so clear it was possible to see how deeply it plunged into the pool. This is a picture of how I imagine a waterfall to be.

This is an image I've had in my mind for over 7yrs since I first went to take a look at the quirky Glasgow Kelvin College (known as the Springburn College which was formerly the John Wheatley College, the North Glasgow College and Stow College). That marvelllous sharp, pointy edge is a really eyecatching, architectural flourish. I imagined it at sunrise reflecting dark night with stars to the north (left) and to the south(right) the warm skies of sunrise. Turns out my memory is not so good because when I got there today there's actually no real window surface for reflection. This image is unashamedly edited to produce the kind of idea I'd had in mind all that time. Today became the day to try and execute it. I'd hoped to get out late last night for landscapes with the Milky Way bit it was cloudy and clear skies not forecast till well after midnight so I turned in, knackered. I optimistically set my alarm for 5am hoping to get out somewhere and catch dark skies (moonset 4am) then some sunrise shots. But at 5am I was too cosy so I turned on the radio instead and caught England winning the superover versus New Zealand in the deciding T20 match of their series. I lay in bed till about 6.30am when my inner voice screaming 'lazy git!' in my head finally drove me for my longjohns and woolly hat and I headed forth deciding today was the day to prowl the surprisingly empty streets of Springburn.

Moving in the direction of Night landscapes with Architecture, the Shard is one of those buildings that simply cannot be ignored, viewable from almost every corner of central London this skyscraper caters for every commercial need, from offices to hotels, restaurants to viewing platforms.

The Shard also referred to as the Shard of Glass, Shard London Bridge and formerly London Bridge Tower, is a 95-storey skyscraper in Southwark, London, that forms part of the London Bridge Quarter development.

Walking alongside the Thames at 4am it's hard not to miss the bright lights and colours of London Bridge Quarter development, access is surprisingly easy, but you should keep your wits about you, for its easy to get distracted by the big city and place yourself in a vulnerable position. Thankfully I was buddied up with Mark so safety in numbers and all that.

One thing I would have liked to have done on this adventure would have been a series of long exposures of the London buses, in preparation for a talk I have managed to rope myself into giving. oh well, I can always pop to Worcester one night :)

These two visitors to Orkney were clearly enjoying their meal and drink, in addition to the harbour view out of the first floor window earlier this evening. I was delighted that they both agreed that I could post my photo to the Internet!

We saw these birds all over Zimbabwe and Botswana. It's a glossy starling (i think it's the cape/red-shouldered although I'm not sure). They're very eyecatching due to the gorgeous teal/blue/purple feathers and also their startling orange/yellow irises.

Wax, metal, heat, & rust make this texture. The art department uses these sheets of metal to put out fires on burning wax. The texture created is absolute art!

Moments later I showed Diana my photo of her bicycle - however she was too occupied in painting a nice harbour scene to be able to discuss its "photographic merits" with me!

Incidentally all of the high hills in the background are on Hoy - Orkney's second largest island, which lies between the "Orkney Mainland" and the County of Caithness, which is south of the Pentland Firth.

The Devon General Metro Cammell bodied 'Sea Dog' class of convertable Atlanteans were the stuff of legend to most enthusiasts of the day. They were both eyecatching and long-lived in most cases.

A late friend of mine liked them so much, even though he lived the best part of 200 miles distant from their operating area, he bought one for preservation when they were withdrawn. That example was 932 GTA seen here in the picture (and during his ownership) on a return visit to Torquay to attend an event.

Preso Ao Tempo

Perco sono

Prezo o tempo que me apressa

Peço a pressa que me acalme

Paro e penso em não pensar.

Perco a pressa

Prezo a alma minha calma

Peço a calma que se apresse

Paro e penso em me apressar

Saudadeio

Prezo o vento busco ar gentil nas profundezas de si

Que se perde o presente, nos segundos .... A cada segundo...Acabam os segundos

Nem me apresse

Calmaria que se acalme

Guarde o tempo num vestido

Pra sambar no carnaval

Nem se apresse

Nessa terra nada foge

Onde aqui ninguém se morre

Penso e paro em me apressar

Nem me apresse

Calmaria que se acalme

Guarde o tempo num vestido

Pra sambar no carnaval

Nem se apresse

Nessa terra nada foge

Onde aqui ninguém se morre

Paro e penso em não pensar.

This interesting piece of artwork by Beccy May was in a new display today at The Pier Arts Centre in Orkney's Stromness town.

By the way that was the title that she gave to her interesting piece of art.
