i managed to capture this sunset shot recently at the prospect hill park overlook in waltham, ma. this is the first time i've experimented with hdr, and i was doing it hand-held (my new tripod should come in today actually) so it's not as crisp as i'd like.. but it's a good start

Le Sablon (en néerlandais : Zavel) est un quartier situé dans le centre historique de Bruxelles qui comprend le Petit Sablon et son square, l'église Notre-Dame, la place du Grand Sablon ainsi que les rues avoisinantes.

La tour Hassan est une tour célèbre de Rabat.

Le sultan Yacoub El Mansour (xiie siècle) projetait de construire la plus grande mosquée du monde musulman, après celle de Samarra en Irak. Les travaux furent abandonnés après sa mort en 1199.

La tour devait culminer à plus de 60 m, mais n'atteignit que 44 m.

La colonnade de l'édifice fut endommagé lors du tremblement de terre de Lisbonne de 1755.

Ce site a été choisi pour ériger le Mausolée Mohammed V où reposent le roi Mohammed V et ses fils Hassan II et Moulay Abdellah.

Son style est un chef-d'œuvre de l'art marocain traditionnel.

 

Le minaret (la tour) s'élève à 44 mètres au dessus du sol, mais si l'on s'en tient aux critères de l'architecture Almohade (5 hauteurs pour 1 largeur), il aurait dû s'élever à plus de 80 mètres et dépasser ainsi la Koutoubia de Marrakech.

Devant la tour, se trouvait l'oratoire, dont on aperçoit les vestiges des colonnades de marbre. Il comprenait 18 travées, 312 colonnes et 44 piliers. Les murs de la mosquée étaient percés de 14 portes.

 

Chacune des quatre faces de la tour, sculptée directement dans la pierre, porte une ornementation différente. La rampe qui permet l'ascension de la tour est suffisamment large pour qu'un homme à cheval la gravisse.
