Focal Length 200mm

Photographer: Thomas Moore

Taken for the "details" assignment for the Peoria Art Guild's Digital Photography class.

Threw a little color in for warmth/depth.

edit: I tried to recover a hint of the texture in the hot spot on the cone and upper right, but didn't want it to get unnatural.

I wanted to capture the tension of the fingers and hands on my own hand, and also the wrinkles of my jacket.

U.S. Army Reserve International Combat Team shooter engages enemy targets during a Dynamic Pistol Lane as part of the 2015 Canadian Armed Forces Small Arms Concentration at the Connaught Range outside of Ottawa, Canada, Sept. 16. The international marksmanship competition lasted roughly two weeks, bringing in more than 250 total competitors from the British, Canadian and U.S. armed forces competing in more than 30 matches involving rifle, pistol and light machine gun events using various combat-like movements and scenarios. Composite image showing an Europhia F3B glider doing a DS circle at Faiallo slope. The glider sort of "bounced" on the shear boundary and the pilot decided to exit to front side.

Dynamic Position Systems (DPS), use multiple thrusters controlled by a central computer to maintain the precise position of a ship or floating platform.

Computers monitor wind speed, currents, wave activity, along with the pitch, roll, and yaw of a ship to determine which thrusters will reduce motion of the platform and prevent currents from pushing the ship away. The thrusters are enormous, with up to 6,000 horsepower, and several of these devices are needed to maintain position for a single floating platform.

The Thrustmaster Portable Dynamic Positioning System even has a portable DPS system that can be temporarily added to any ship, barge, yacht, or floating platform.

I like to paint watercolours, wet-on-wet, this time I tried it with acrylics. Letting the paint take me where it wanted to go. Working quickly, starting from the eyes and work my way outwards. This one of my favourite paintings :-)

Thanks!

I like how 'Our Dynamic Earth' is set against such a good example of our Earth being dynamic.

I also quite like how the elegance of its form mocks the scattergun architectural hodgepodge of the Scottish Parliament.
