Go Ahead/London General Mercedes Citaro MEC33(BD09ZVY) is seen in Central London with a learner driver being put through the riggers of heavy traffic .
Castle Class 255 HST led by class 43 power car 43198 DRIVER STAN MARTIN awaiting departure with the 15:55 Plymouth to Penzance.
Driver Martin was one of six people tragically killed at Ufton Nervet, Berkshire on November 06, 2004 when his HST collided with an unlit car which had deliberately stopped on a half-barrier crossing in a suicide.
The driver of the car was also killed in the collision.
The locomotive was named in honour of Stan Martin on what would have been his 59th Birthday.

Bombardier tram number 2538 undergoing driver training on a fairly quiet Sunday morning in early Spring.
I would imagine a few more drivers being recruited due to the planned increase in the level of service & the doubling of the line in the Beddington area.

Recently ive been converting an EFE London DMS into this Park Royal bodied Daimler fleetline seen in the disguise of SYPTEs driver training vehicle M111
Wild Card seemed like a good driver for the AWE Striker. I tried to pick a helmet and weapon that matched Crankcase.

This afternoon I spent a gory couple of hours chopping up the bodies of assorted OO/HO figures, to make them suitable as drivers for the various cars that appear on the Kennington Cross layout.
Inevitably they can easily be missed by the casual viewer.... but I know they are there!
I especially like the Austin Devon model. However, being Pocketbond Classix model, one has to drill out two rivets in order to release the chassis. In contrast the Oxford Diecast models have crosshead screws. In due course, I may summon the courage to install a driver in the Classix Vauxhall Ten - another very nice model,..... with the chassis held on by three rivets!
The Deveon chassis comes off complete with the bumpers, and the interior seems quite roomy compared to other models. Alas the driver seems to have steamed up his window!

This is a beat-up, second generation Camaro in Leschi with no tabs, my youngest and I spotted it on a long walk after school. When I was a kid, I went through a phase where I sketched a lot of 1980s era IROC Z28s, haha! However, in my increasingly advanced age, I've yet to own a "cool" car or even a pickup truck.

This week, my oldest started driver's training, five weeks of classes. We also applied online for his learner's permit, which I had no idea was a thing. Believe it or not, any random fifteen year old in Seattle can operate an automobile with the simple mouse-click of an icon. This seems like more than a minor insanity, to me!
It's not that I don't think my son's ready to at least start practicing. I'm confident he'll ultimately grow into a careful, considerate driver. He's very smart, mature and polite for his age. Still, you always worry a little about executive function when it comes to teenagers. We live in a neighborhood with some of the steepest streets in the city and there are no stop signs at a lot of intersections. I figure, if he can drive competently here, he'll be fine. I'm not sure he's going to experience the same thrill of independence or freedom that I did, when I earned my automobile license. I grew up in the boondocks, miles from anywhere, while he already has the luxury of taking the bus or train by himself. We live in the middle of town, he rides Metro home from school. Some days, he eschews the bus ride for a long walk.
He drove us to his school, this morning. He did quite well. I was reminded of my early teens when I'd drive my dad around on dirt roads, in the Monte Carlo, while he sat in the front passenger seat, sometimes he'd be nursing a beer while I crept along at ten miles per hour. Needless to say, I will not be having a beer while I take my son out for driving practice. There's something about letting one of your babies get behind the steering wheel that reminds you how potentially dangerous or lethal the act of operating a motor vehicle is: To pedestrians, bicyclists or the occupants of said vehicles.

While in Kraków we took a random tram out of the city centre, and ended up with tram 4. When getting off I took some photos of the trains at the end/first station, when the driver suddenly came out and walked towards us.
He had a rather sour looking face, so my first thought was that he didn't like that we took photos of the trains. He talked to us in Polish, but when he understood that we was foreigners he asked to follow him to the other side of the lines.
There he told us what we ought to photograph; the Tatra Mountains and Zakopane. The mountains could be spotted somewhere behind the foggy horizon, and not really worthy a photo for me, but he was very impressed himself, and took up his mobile for a few photos.
