Scorpion was hand-drawn from the cover of Drive (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack). I used Sharpie oil-based paint markers. I was able to get it down with 2 orange and 2 black markers. My nephew helped me out draw in the orange (child labor or family fun, you decide). My dad joined in the fun and added black detail on collar, waist-band and cuffs with black duct tape.

meet rommel, a pedicab driver. he makes a living ferrying or transporting people with his pedicab or padyak (kick) within a distance of 3 kilometeres. a pedicab is a bicycle with a passenger cabin that can sit up to two people. rommel is 29 years old and is married, with 6 children. he can earn up to PHP 300 (USD 6.70) on a good day.

This was clicked in Mumbai last year. I was visiting a friend when this cab pulled next to me. I had my camera with me and as I raised it I saw a subtle smile behind that mustache. Most cab drivers in Mumbai work long hours for a petty wage. Its the same situation for a large number people in India who toil and work hard just to make ends meet.

I swear I could shoot nothing but the pickup men at a rodeo and wind up with a bunch of great pictures. I think what they do — all night — is as skillful as anything else going on in the arena. I mean, you try unbuckling a strap with one hand, at a gallop, while steering your horse into another horse.
If you ever go to a rodeo, don’t fall asleep after the timed event is over. Watch these guys work. It’s impressive. There’s no money in it, so you don’t see anybody photographing it. I don’t shoot for money. I shoot for fun. And this is as fun to shoot as the rest of the rodeo.

Finally I got my Social Security Card, so we immediately went and got me a drivers license. Showing my German license I still had to take the written test (easy), but not the driving test.
Endlich habe ich meine Social Security Card bekommen, also sind wir sofort los um mir einen Führerschein zu besorgen. Ich habe den deutschen Schein vorgezeigt und musste trotzdem die schriftliche Prüfung machen (einfach), aber nicht die Fahrprüfung.
