Taxi Driver taking a rest from behind the wheel. Something about his demeanor caught my eye. He seemed defeated. I'm here to tell him, it's alright.
A brand spanking new hants fire and rescue service volvo FLL Rescue pump seen here driving through Holbury on driver training duties. This vehicle has not been alocated to a station yet so in the mean time is in Driver training.
The only difference i could see on the vehicle was A change of grill lights, other then that it still looks gorgeous.
A massive thanks goes to Mr Ben Cole for telling me this vehicle was coming into my Area, He was in the vehicle at the time.

Following on from their use in the Olynpics earlier this summer. Eddie Stobarts fleet of "Dual Fuel" LNG Volvo FM "Globetrotters" are now finding use in the main transport division alongside the rest of the fleet . A number of these smart looking trucks are now in the fleet based at Appleton Thorn, Warrington ( A very special friend is a driver here...... he still has his Scania ! )

This diesel train driver was waiting while a problem further up the line was cleared.
He leaned out the window to take a look up the tracks and I grabbed this shot.

While at the salt desert to the border of Pakistan, we wanted to take a stroll to get some pictures and get a feeling of walking on the semi-dry salt lake. Our camel driver/guide took his camels for a stroll as well, giving me an excellent opportunity to capture them from a distance with a clean background. The salt lake was dry on the surface, but still held a few centimeters of water once the dried salt cover broke. Since I was walking in sandals, I cut myself over and over again, instantly filling the small cuts with salt. Needless to say, it was rather painful. That being said, though, I would easily do it again, albeit with a different pair of footwear.

So I survived a crazy weekend (actually more like 36 hours) on the streets of Mumbai shooting pretty much all the time and taking small breaks for a bit of sleep or a bit of coffee! Like I mentioned in a previous post, I went to Mumbai over the weekend together with two friends who are very keen street photographers and who have recently joined the “blogosphere” with a cool photography antiblog. While street photography is not really my biggest love, I had a great time and managed to get away with a few nice shots which are a bit different than my usual stuff.
We had no specific plans about the locations where we would shoot with the exception of the loose phrase “hey, let’s go somewhere where there’s lots of people”. Well, Mumbai has 20 million people so we were definitely covered there! Things were made infinitely easier by Arsh who’s been a reader of my blog for over two years and who graciously offered to show us around and take us to some places we would have never found on our own. Thanks Arsh!
Now on to today’s image… We landed in Mumbai very early morning on Friday (4am to be precise) and we figured that our best chance for some cool scenes at that hour would be a train station. We got a taxi to Victoria Terminus, a busy train station with beautiful Victorian Gothic revival architecture and plenty of people milling about. Outside the train station many taxi drivers were waiting for clients and I spotted this old guy thinking I’ll try something different. I’ve asked one of my friends to hold a bare flash pointed at him, while I was shooting through the window. I’m really happy with this shot as I think it’s got almost a cinematic feel to it, but as always I would love to hear what you think.

FPX 701H a very smart Plaxton bodied AEC Reliance 6U3ZR was on display at the Southsea Spectacular which was held on Southsea Common on June 11th 1995. New to Byng's Luxury Coaches, Portsmouth during 1970 it was last reported in use with Chiltern Queens, Woodcote.
I made a pilgrimage to the spot under the tracks discovered by Alfie. While I didn't get any particulary good shots (like this) of people on the far side of the street a taxi did stop briefly in front of me waiting for the traffic light to turn and I snapped away. The driver's face is a little blurry due to the reflections in the window but still good enough and I particularly liked the light on the passenger's face as he played with his Crackberry.

Every bus driver knows the scenario: you close the doors, turn on your direction indicator, release the handbrake - and then someone comes bounding up to the door, pleading to be allowed on board. That did not faze this Eastern Counties driver, who immediately stopped and let this anxious lady on board. (I had just photographed the stationary bus, so witnessed the mini-drama unfold.)
The bus and its backstory are interesting too. I had long assumed the vehicle to be a commonplace Dennis Dart with Plaxton Pointer bodywork. Not so! It in fact is the less common Volvo riposte to the ultra-successful Dennis middle weight, the B6. Carrying fleet number 485, M588ANG had not been ordered by Eastern Counties (at the time part of GRT Holdings), but by Mainline, the privatised Sheffield operator and was one of a batch that was all set to launch a competing Mainline Ipswich service. Carrying red and yellow Mainline livery, it originally carried the registration M412TET. In the event, Eastern Counties reached an agreement with Mainline, acquiring the operating licences, and absorbing the Volvo B6s into its own fleet.
In its final years in the ownership of First Eastern Counties and carrying the insipid ‘Barbie 2’ livery, M588ANG is recorded as being tax-expired after 4/07.
Of further note is The Cricketers pub in the background, a notable landmark in the Ipswich town centre. It is one of several ‘Tolly Folly’ pubs dating from the 1930s, built by local brewer Tolly Cobbold in a pastiche Jacobean style that was based on Helmingham Hall, the ancestral seat of the Tollemache family. The Cricketers is now a Wetherspoon outlet.
