This is the second time i have come across a Arsy foreign driver who drives for Silverline....What you doing mate..Taking photos why....don't you think you should ask.....why , i am not on Silverline property , no drivers are in my pictures and if it was an issue surely management wouild come and move me on as can be seen on the CCTV sorry mate but your like me just a driver who cannot tell me what i can and can't take photos off. We were on a safari drive when G (Gaone), our guide/driver, stopped our vehicle and pointed to a speck in the distance that was this Bateleur attempting to make a meal of the bone in its talons. In each of the camps we went, the guides and trackers displayed remarkable eye sights, often pointing out targets where the four or six guests in the vehicle had seen nothing!
The Bateleur is a medium-sized eagle with its closest relatives being the snake eagles. It is the only member of its genus and may be the origin of the "Zimbabwe Bird", national emblem of Zimbabwe. It is endemic to Africa and small parts of Arabia. "Bateleur" is French for "Street Performer". The average adult is 22 to 28 inches (55 to 70cm) long with a 6-foot (186cm) wingspan and adults weigh typically between 4.5 and 5.75 lbs. (2 to 2.6kg). The Bateleur is a colorful species with a very short tail which, together with its white underwing coverts, makes it unmistakable in flight. The tail is so small the bird's legs protrude slightly beyond the tail during flight. The Bateleur is sexually dimorphic; both adults have black plumage, a chestnut mantle and tail, grey shoulders, tawny wing coverts, and red facial skin, bill and legs. The female additionally has tawny secondary wing feathers. Less commonly, the mantle may be white. Immature birds are brown with white dappling, have greenish facial skin and it takes them seven or eight years to reach full maturity.
