HFF at Lake Michigan...:))

Monemvasia is a dramatic medieval fortress town perched on a massive rock rising from the Aegean Sea, with sweeping seascape views from its walls, cliff paths, and the upper castle area. Its narrow causeway, sea-facing terraces, and high viewpoints make the coastline feel very open and cinematic, especially at sunrise and sunset when the rock and water are lit with warm color.

I was out for a morning walk on Long Beach and got this shot of Obie stopping to look for seagulls. There were these dramatic clouds in the sky that reflected in the tidal water pools on the beach which made for an interesting shot. One of those rare moments where we had the entire beach to ourselves and the lighting and weather cooperated.

The monument of stone and bronze made by Ladislav Šaloun is one of the most significant Art Nouveau and Symbolist works of Czech Monumental Sculpture. It is dominated by the figure of the martyr Hus above a burning stake, looking towards the main Husite Church of the Virgin Mary in front of Týn Church. Then there are groups of people, fighters with a shield and a flail and opposite to it there is a group of humiliated people, representing the exhiles in the period of the oppression after the Battle of the White Mountain

Taken at "El Castro De Las Gaviotas" in Asturias, at sunrise.

It was a rainy morning and, despite the name of the place, I've seen no seagulls...

We visit Nubble almost every summer. It's one of my favorite places on earth. This was taken several years ago.

The sky over Ghent bleeds in hues of deep copper and burning gold, as if the heavens themselves were an old canvas set ablaze by time. Below, the river remains an unbothered spectator, a dark mirror capturing the silhouette of a city that has seen centuries pass in silence. The colorful houses stand like silent sentinels, their vibrant faces slowly yielding to the encroaching shadows of the night, while the ripples on the water whisper secrets of those who walked these banks long ago.

There is a profound, epic melancholy in this transition, where the light refuses to die without a final, dramatic display of power. The air feels heavy with the scent of ancient stone and damp earth, a Gothic embrace that wraps around the boats moored along the pier. It is a moment frozen between the pulse of the living world and the eternal stillness of history, a fleeting golden bridge that connects the restlessness of the day with the ghostly peace of the coming darkness.

A nice view across the road from our house!

Happy May Day, Happy Fence Friday.

This field with a big old tree and an old fence has a good crop of Dandylions this Spring.

A dramatic sunset captured along the coast near the harbor in Side, Turkey. I shot this with my Sony Alpha 6700. The contrast between the turbulent, purple-blue storm clouds and the intense golden light piercing through to illuminate a passing historical tall ship was truly breathtaking. The powerful crashing waves against the rocky shore complete this dramatic, raw nature scene.

The golden hour in Monemvasia, the Peloponnese, Greece

The skeletal framework of the bridge rises like a prehistoric titan over the obsidian waters, its iron ribs glowing with a fire that refuses to die against the encroaching storm. Every bolt and beam hums with the phantom echoes of a thousand journeys, casting long, jagged shadows that dance upon the river's surface. It is a monument of amber light in a world of charcoal clouds, a golden artery connecting the forgotten past with a restless, dark future that whispers from the depths.

As the heavy clouds thicken above the steel arches, the city lights in the distance flicker like dying embers against the cold breath of the river. The bridge stands as a silent sentinel, enduring the weight of time and the relentless flow of the current that seeks to wash away its golden reflection. In this intersection of industrial might and natural gloom, the air feels thick with the secrets of those who cross it, leaving only a trail of light to pierce the absolute silence of the midnight hour.

"Chandrabhaga Roars Beneath the Clouds"

Billowing clouds roll in like ancient giants, cloaking the horizon in shades of charcoal and silver. The wind howls across the shore, stirring up foamy waves that crash relentlessly onto the golden sands. Every gust and surge feels like nature's own heartbeat — wild, untamed, and alive. In this moment, Chandrabhaga doesn’t whisper tranquility — it roars with power, majesty, and raw coastal emotion

Περιοχή Κόνιτσας Konitsa’s area

on my blog ΛΟΓΕΙΚΩΝ Logicon

At the entrance to the gorge of Aoos, at the entrance to the gorge of Aoos, there is the large single-crossed bridge of Konitsa, which was built in 1870-71 by a workshop of 50 masters led by the foreman Zioa Fronzo from Pyrsogianni.

The bridge was built with donations by the residents of the city and mainly by Yanniotis Ioannis Louli, who disposed approximately half of the 120,000 stones that his construction cost.

In the same place, a wooden bridge was built in 1823, but it did not withstand the momentum of the river and it was destroyed very soon.

The current stone bridge is 36 meters wide and 20 meters high while under the arch is the small bell to warn passers-by not to cross the bridge when wind blows from the inside of the ravine, and there is a risk that get caught up and fall.

It wasn't until I got home and previewed this shot, that I noticed a girl in the distance with her hands stretched out like a bird ready to fly. This was not posed! Based on the pictures before & after this shot, I suspect she was trying to keep her balance on a body board. But this pose and her position by the sun happened to work perfectly for this shot.

walking back to the car - great light but a wild day. This was the exact kind of weather that I needed to buy a digital camera for. Normally I'd come home after a walk like this with hardly any photos. The film in my camera was too slow and my phone camera simply can't cope with days like this
