The Summit Hotel (and more recently Loew's New York Hotel) opened in 1961. Designed by Morris Lapidus, of Art Deco fame, its exterior blue façade - is shaped like a perpendicular rolling wave. Lapidus also designed the Fontainebleau Hotel and Eden Roc Hotel, Miami Beach.
Lapidus took advantage of the absence of windows on the hotel's Lexington Avenue side and designed an unusal stainless steel sign. it was planned from the start and appears in early renderings when the hotel was called the Americana.
Robert Johnson, founder of BET and principal of RLJ Development, closed on the purchase of the Doubletree Metropolitan Hotel in 2010, paying $335 million for the 755-room Lexington Avenue hotel. RLJ paid $135 million in cash and put $200 million of new debt on the property, the $125 million of mezzanine debt on it coming from the Blackstone Real Estate Situation Fund.

Hilton Doha and DoubleTree by Hilton Doha – Old Town were industry partners at the Qatar Internship Fair, a four-day event which allowed the hotels to reach 800-1000 youth. Team Members informed young people about summer internship opportunities and gave them advice about how to create great first impressions. As a result, 10 youths were selected for summer internships. Additionally, 85 students from the Gulf English School visited Hilton Doha where they learned about Hilton's history and brands, participated in an exciting scavenger hunt to search for marketing collateral, and used what they found to create a presentation about product marketing. The hotel also hosted 18 students with special needs, giving them a tour of Hilton Doha, teaching them how to make beds and fold towels, and providing a delicious lunch.

Myrtle Beach is a coastal city on the east coast of the United States in Horry County, South Carolina. It is situated on the center of a large and continuous stretch of beach known as the Grand Strand in northeastern South Carolina.
Myrtle Beach is one of the major centers of tourism in the United States because of the city's warm subtropical climate and extensive beaches, attracting an estimated 14 million visitors each year. As of the 2010 census, the population of the city was 27,109 with the Myrtle Beach metropolitan area population at 465,391 according to a 2013 estimate.
Myrtle Beach hosts a variety of special conventions, events, and musical concerts. The area's attractions include its beaches and courses, as well as a number of amusement parks, an aquarium, Legends In Concert, retail developments, a number of shopping complexes and over 1,900 restaurants[6] including seafood restaurants. The area also has dinner theaters, nightclubs, and many tourist shops. Myrtle Beach has an estimated 460 hotels, with many on the beachfront, and approximately 89,000 accommodation units in total. Also in the city is Myrtle Waves, one of the largest water parks on the East Coast of the United States.

A year ago we spent a couple days in Port Huron to celebrate Joan's birthday. We wandered around, mostly along the river, found a "new" restaurant we'd somehow missed on previous trips, and had a good time.
Today's photo shows our hotel, as photographed from the hotel's restaurant, Freighters, last September 25. We've stayed at the Port Huron DoubleTree a few times, and rather like the place.
A year ago I posted a photo I almost literally stumbled across, of the approaches to the Blue Water Bridge from beside the hotel. We were just prowling the grounds pretty much for the heck of it when I noticed the sky's changing colors, oddly framed by the bridge. Grabbed my phone and grabbed a photo. I love it; sometimes you just luck into your best images.

Other photos taken on 9/25/2024: Quite a few. My Canon pocket cam found 20 pix, mostly of the ship Walter J McCarthy Jr; one included lots of unexpected bicyclists. The good camera also got a workout, with 189 photos as we walked along the St Clair River; I rather like one that caught three ships and the Blue Water Bridge.

Located on Bread Street, this hotel was my accommodation for two nights during my first-ever visit of Edinburgh. Being within walking distance of the castle, the Royal Mile, and even Dean Village, this was an excellent location; also due to my status with Hilton Honors loyalty program, I was given a free upgrade to a castle view room on the top floor.
For now in the morning hours, I am here only to drop off my luggage so that I can spend my first Edinburgh day sightseeing.
At Hilton, the midgrade Doubletree brand is known for its free cookies upon check-in, and tends to feature existing properties that were converted from a different operator. For this UK visit, I booked Doubletree locations for both Edinburgh and London, and they worked out great.
Here's where I stayed while in Albuquerque, not a bad hotel, renovation is still underway. Staff was polite and the cookies totally kick butt!

DoubleTree San Francisco Airport North hosted five students who were taking part in their school’s “Job Shadow” day. The students met with the department heads to learn more about their respective functions, and after spending nearly three hours onsite with our Hilton Team Members, all five students said they wanted to pursue a career in the hospitality industry!
