This is our pal Murphy, yes, he is as cheeky as he looks!
Good news about Eric 1874's dog Mac, he's back home and recovering. Hopefully he'll be his old self soon! Thanks to all those who dropped by and wished him well.
Josie posing pretty in some tall grass.
I'm getting VERY frustrated. I don't know what is wrong with me - I can't seem to get a good action shot of Josie unless she is running parallel to me. I've tried changing every setting imaginable on my camera, and I can't get it to focus on her face...I'm about to give up :(
Week 9 has kind of creep up on us and we have not been able to do much better than this.
Dylian is showcasing his best command of "place" having to keep it even if his crazy sister is doing all kinds of crazy and distracting things around him.
This week he learned to spin... He learns quickly which makes it all that much more fun. I need ideas of tricks to teach him. I think he really needs to be challenged.
A picture of Misty who today November 21 2018 died.
She was just over 14 years old and was getting on In life she was suffering from problems associated with old age.
She had had a good life, travelled thousands of miles all over the UK Including Cornwall, East Anglia, West Wales and the far North of Scotland Including several Scottish Islands such as Isle of Colonsay, Isle of Gigha, Isle of Arran, Isle of Jura and Isle of Islay.
Misty was the last surviving member of the 'Brat Pack' as they were to become known which consisted of Gnasher, Misty and Tip.She asserted herself as the Matriarch of the pack and as such often put the others In their place, but always looked after them at the same time.
She was, In her younger days quite a fearsome yet protective dog and If anybody was to come near her of any of her pack/family with a stick such as walkers, she would 'keep them at bay'.
Even In her advancing years she was still a puppy she would run around the house with the other dogs playing with them.
She was a 'Daddys Girl' she would follow me everywhere never letting me out of her sight and when my Wife would put her arms around me Misty would bark as If to say 'Hey that's my Dad'.
Today we lost a Legend, a dog who definitely made her mark, a dog who was Misty the short haired border Collie.
See ya soon Misty.
Williamstadt House, Canine Corps
all 3 have lovely personalities!
from top left clockwise,
Sally - is thought to be a Corgi x Jack Russell. she took us for a great walk down to the harbour and got us back to the house again. She likes being centre of attention and hates the other two getting noticed.
Rosie, the owners believe she is a lab x long hair pointer cross, 18 months old. Oozes intelligence and gets a kick out of predicting and influencing human behaviour. She was rescued by Kevin (one of the owners), after a chance conversation outside a shop, from the boot of a car. She was being taken to get euthanised as a pup as she was surplus to requirements and was part of a big litter. Paula's fave of the 3!
Walter, Jack Russell, about 14 years old, A gentle soul who we were told started off life as a bait dog for dogs being trained for dog fighting and actually has some pretty significant skin scars to show for it. Thankfully he has enjoyed a long rescue retirement and is very laid back. Old, slow but definitely enjoying life and very gentle. He took a real like to me and i have to say he was my favourite of the 3 great dogs.

... and a colorful, artful crab.
I took the dogs to swim this afternoon, to beat the summer-like temperatures we've been having recently. well, our swimming time was cut short when alice went off and rolled in a bunch of burrs and came out just covered in them. she even had them in her face! so, we had to head back to the car so I could use a pair of hemostats to pull them out... when will I ever learn to carry an actual instrument on myself at all times? lol! since we had to leave the river, we drove downtown on the way home to take this shot for 52 weeks. I took a photo of june in front of this wall at my favorite restaurant a few months ago and have been meaning to get one of alice as well.
yesterday I took the dogs to the beach for the day. it was strange, because dogs are allowed on the beach after October 1st, but with the warm weather there were also tons of people out on the sand. I still took the dogs out and let them swim, since we had gone all the way down there. they were so good! they didn't bother anyone, they stayed within our own little area and just retrieved and returned to me, and repeated. both dogs were so wound up, they were leaping the waves and swimming out into the ocean. alice hasn't done this since the one time she went under a few years ago and june has never done it. they were going crazy! there were some beach-goers who were videoing the browngirls having so much fun. it was a nice weekend, but I know we are all looking forward to some actual fall weather soon.

The Daily Dog Challenge "It Seemed Like A Good Idea At The Time..." Tell us a story with a photo today!
Minnie was on the cushion that I had intended to take Blender's photo on, so I thought "What the heck, I'll just set up with Minnie and move Blender in.
Minnie was so cute and snuggly. I wanted to see her eyes. Ever so gently I bit into the squeaker that I keep in my mouth to get the hounds attention.
Minnie came up out of her sleeping position and I just happened to snap as she was coming after the squeaker.
This is Koby my daughters puppy. I don't know why he got so lucky as to wonder in to our yard with his mother when he was about 6 weeks old. By the time we tracked down the owners my daughter had fell in love with him and begged to keep him. Not being much of a dog person I resisted but finally gave in to her sales pitch on a daily basis of telling me how much she wanted the puppy and how she would take such great care of him. I have to say it was a great decision to keep him. We have had nothing but a blast with him. He is a great puppy! And it has taught my daughter allot about having to be responsible for an animal.
My Great Camera Club and FLICKR Mate Richard let me have a go with his 'All-Singing-All-Dancing' CANON 7D Digital + canon EF 85mm f1.8 lens WOW ! we set : Cloudy White Balance. Single Shot, ISO 400, 'AV' auto Exposure, f4 and I could understand all that ! so I took a few Street Snaps here in LockDown BRENTWOOD England . They were 'RAW' but I used FastStone Image Viewer to convert to JPegs -- see -- I'm LEARNING all this DIGITAL STUFF and one day I will be a 'Cool DUDE' !!
Dogs 10 comandments
1)My life only lasts about 10-15 years. So remember any seperation from you will be painful. Remember that before you get me.
2)Give me the time to understand what you want from me.
3)Place your trust in me. That is crucial to my well being.
4)Dont get angry with me for a long period of time or lock me up. You have friends to talk and visit with. Remember all i have is you.
5)Talk to me sometimes. Even though i can't understand your words i can understand the tone of your voice.
6)Be aware of how you treat me. Because i'll never forget.
7)Please don't hit me because all i can do it bite and scratch. And i dont want to do that.
8)Before you scold me for my behavior. Ask whats wrong with me. I might be sick, sad or lonley.
9)Please take care of me when i get old. You will grow old too.
10)Go with me on that diffacult journey. Never say i can't bear to watch or let it happen in your absence. Everything is easier if your there.
The adventure continues with puppy Echo - She is just delightful, but I've been having some trouble deciding how to best put her and Jax together while keeping my sanity and keeping the puppy safe. It seems my garden is a wealth of puppy toxins, especially this time of year, with about a gazillion daffodils in bloom. Today we had a bit of a breakthrough and took both dogs out on leash this morning (in the back garden). For some reason this seemed to make a huge difference, at least to Jax. This evening we upped the stakes and took Echo out on leash while Jax was totally off leash - without any problems. Baby steps for me (I worry when there is growling at the puppy, even though I'm assured it is normal) and a huge leap for Jax and Echo. Hopefully by the time my new camera arrives (sometime after it's release date of March 25) they will be fast friends - or at least tolerant housemates - ha!
Through the fence. Facing the barbs of life with dignity.
Well, Bogart anyway. Magnus is just a big, lovable goof. In spite of his deep, soulful expression here.
Taken back in October with my 30mm 1.4 lens.

How did that cat get in our t.v. Ollie? he could be your long lost father Rufus, he has the same colour coat.
