Straw dog

I'd been planning this shot for a few weeks as the grass turned to straw during the heatwave. Only problem, it was too hot to take Fudge for a walk during the day when the sun was shining on this bank of grass. The weather has cooled somewhat and we've even had some welcome rain. This week marked the 8th anniversary of us getting our golden boy, as Fudge arrived as a very cute puppy on July 20th 2010.

A picture of Misty who today November 21 2018 died.

She was just over 14 years old and was getting on In life she was suffering from problems associated with old age.

She had had a good life, travelled thousands of miles all over the UK Including Cornwall, East Anglia, West Wales and the far North of Scotland Including several Scottish Islands such as Isle of Colonsay, Isle of Gigha, Isle of Arran, Isle of Jura and Isle of Islay.

Misty was the last surviving member of the 'Brat Pack' as they were to become known which consisted of Gnasher, Misty and Tip.She asserted herself as the Matriarch of the pack and as such often put the others In their place, but always looked after them at the same time.

She was, In her younger days quite a fearsome yet protective dog and If anybody was to come near her of any of her pack/family with a stick such as walkers, she would 'keep them at bay'.

Even In her advancing years she was still a puppy she would run around the house with the other dogs playing with them.

She was a 'Daddys Girl' she would follow me everywhere never letting me out of her sight and when my Wife would put her arms around me Misty would bark as If to say 'Hey that's my Dad'.

Today we lost a Legend, a dog who definitely made her mark, a dog who was Misty the short haired border Collie.

See ya soon Misty.

This one from the archives humored me.

Josie posing pretty in some tall grass.

I'm getting VERY frustrated. I don't know what is wrong with me - I can't seem to get a good action shot of Josie unless she is running parallel to me. I've tried changing every setting imaginable on my camera, and I can't get it to focus on her face...I'm about to give up :(

Week 9 has kind of creep up on us and we have not been able to do much better than this.

Dylian is showcasing his best command of "place" having to keep it even if his crazy sister is doing all kinds of crazy and distracting things around him.

This week he learned to spin... He learns quickly which makes it all that much more fun. I need ideas of tricks to teach him. I think he really needs to be challenged.

This girl was a delight to watch at the local beach this morning, but hard to photograph!

Layla was 6 months old when I received her as a HS graduation present. She was a sweetheart, but very shy around strangers. She absolutely did not like being confined, so I gave her free reign of the Kitchen. One day she torn up the indoor/outdoor carpeting (carpeting in the kitchen was a 70's thing).. Needless to say mom was right on the phone asking the breeder to please take her back. I was heartbroken of course. I'd only had her for 3 weeks. The breeder tried to comfort me by saying "You'll be able to have your own dogs one day".. And that I did! :)

... and a colorful, artful crab.

I took the dogs to swim this afternoon, to beat the summer-like temperatures we've been having recently. well, our swimming time was cut short when alice went off and rolled in a bunch of burrs and came out just covered in them. she even had them in her face! so, we had to head back to the car so I could use a pair of hemostats to pull them out... when will I ever learn to carry an actual instrument on myself at all times? lol! since we had to leave the river, we drove downtown on the way home to take this shot for 52 weeks. I took a photo of june in front of this wall at my favorite restaurant a few months ago and have been meaning to get one of alice as well.

yesterday I took the dogs to the beach for the day. it was strange, because dogs are allowed on the beach after October 1st, but with the warm weather there were also tons of people out on the sand. I still took the dogs out and let them swim, since we had gone all the way down there. they were so good! they didn't bother anyone, they stayed within our own little area and just retrieved and returned to me, and repeated. both dogs were so wound up, they were leaping the waves and swimming out into the ocean. alice hasn't done this since the one time she went under a few years ago and june has never done it. they were going crazy! there were some beach-goers who were videoing the browngirls having so much fun. it was a nice weekend, but I know we are all looking forward to some actual fall weather soon.

I love those shoes! It’s my new pair, the fourth!

I wear almost only them, they are so comfortable…in every season!

The little one is not for dogs, it’s made to carry the cell phone! But I arranged it like a dog-shoe!

Lassie poses feeling pretty strange, she has never worn shoes!

No, I won’t make her go out with Croc’s on! :)

Have a beautiful Croc’s Monday!
