Dogs are used by some hunters to track deer. Sometimes the purpose of the tracking is to have the dogs chase the deer toward the hunter, while other times the objective is to have the dogs track a deer that has been wounded and has run away into the woods - Vallee de l'Ornes, France
One of my rescues. This is Riley.
I probably adjust the soft focus to much for most but really like using it on my dog's.
Introducing Po, my 9-year-old Flat-Coat, to 12 Months for Dogs, through her running feet, which is what she's all about.
A New Beginning for us, in joining this group. And a New Beginning, for my plan to improve my action photography skills through this project. And I hope a New Beginning, also, for Po's continuing soundness & ability to run without pain.
Her field trial career was derailed by an injury that left her with an arthritic hock joint, & we've been through years of rehab therapy-- underwater treadmill, laser, acupuncture, chiropracty, supplements, & finally last fall, the promising new treatment of arthramid injection. She had months of post-procedure recovery with limited activity, & now seems much improved, though our incredibly frigid winter has limited our opportunities to get out. (You can see the hock supports she wears when running in these photos. She's quite oblivious to them -- nothing slows her down!)
The weather went cold again, and have been super busy sorting and editing the 2000+ photos from the two trial weekends. Loving the photos I've gotten, can't wait to be done though!
Took this today during a break from editing. Kess is really loving the Jolly Ball now too. What I can't figure out- that's Pepper's butt in the background, not Kess'. Not sure where Kess' body fits in this photo... :-P

Walter falls into the category of dogs who much prefer when their human shoots from the hip!
He loves nothing more than a good old fashioned game of fetch. Fine if I throw his toy, but he especially loves when I kick it instead. Here he offers a subtle hint as to what he wants me to do... :-)
I am shocked to realize that the last time Walter had a nice blue sky in his 52 Weeks photo was 10 weeks ago! and the last time his holee roller toy appeared (best fetching/tug toy ever! except that it's so darn easily broken once the dog figures out much fun *that* is... sigh!) was - gasp - Week 20!

f/11 (hoping that would help the chances of his face being in focus while shooting from the hip.... but the slowish shutter speed didn't exactly help the focus matter I suppose...)

I met this little character yesterday. Can anyone surprise me by guessing what sort of cross she is?
For 12 Months for Dogs -- 11/12
Bunny had a birthday this month and she's now eleven years old. I wish I knew where the time went. She came to me at eighteen months old and we have had more adventures and special moments together than I can count. Here's hoping we celebrate many more!
You can read more about Bunny at TalesAndTails.com.
Bon week end a vous tous,

bisous a vous tous
"The Dude" is my new 9 week old Golden Retriever puppy. I have only had him for 4 days and he's really starting to pick up energy.... haha.... I am so far behind on things watching him all the time and keeping him out of trouble. But he's worth every second.

---The world keeps dreaming, dreaming of spring -- Tom Waits
While we were away on our long road trip, Chicago was hit with sleet, rain & flooding, & Spring kept holding off 'til our return. Po's in the mood to revel!
In West Vancouver there is a dog walk so dogs can walk freely without being on a leash. It runs beside the railway tracks and is separated from the sea walkway by a mesh fence. These two dogs looked awfully grumpy to me as I think they wanted to be with their master or mistress on the paved walk.
Last week I had the opportunity to meet and photograph Gretchen. This cutie was suffering from lymphoma, but even in her advanced condition she was sprightly and full of love -- she had me wrapped around her finger from the word "go".
I'm glad I got the chance to meet her when I did, as I've heard from Gretchen's people that her condition abruptly took a turn for the worst and they had made the difficult decision to ease her suffering.
Rest easy, little one. You will be missed.
