A little later in the evening after the sun had gone behind the hill, the clouds took on the lovely light and colour. Looking over the Adur valley , taken a while after this shot www.flickr.com/photos/17469730@N00/51267850686/in/datetak...
Under the right conditions, mountainous regions can produce some interesting and beautiful weather as the incoming air masses rise over the mountains, cool, and produce clouds and storms. These are approaching clouds passing over the easternmost ridges of the Appalachians, and they painted the sky with their presence the other day. Taken looking west from near Swoope, Virginia.
I have two versions of this (other a painterly one) but will save it for another day. I thought this was framed nicely and I took this during a break in a snow storm. Happy Fence Friday my fellow Flickeroos.
There is value in going back to the same location, you will never find the same exact conditions twice. Sometimes I come away with nothing or at least with nothing worth posting. Last summers' monsoon clouds just kept on giving.
"Start where you are. Distant fields always look greener, but opportunity lies right where you are. Take advantage of every opportunity of service."
Robert Collier
Taken on the way home from work. Managed to get this from inside the car as it was starting to rain.
Lightning captured looking North of town. Taken with NightCap. Light Trails mode, 6.47 second exposure, 1/3s shutter speed.

To-day the hills put off their haze
And stand so green and clear
That every peak remote and strange
Is intimate and near.

Горы сияют сегодня без дымки,
Зелен и ясен их солнечный лик.
Близок, как будто в альбоме на снимке,
Каждый далекий заоблачный пик.

This is a an image I took looking down the length of Loch Seaforth. Loch Seaforth (Siophort) forms the boundary between Harris and Lewis reaching nine miles northwards into a particularly mountainous and isolated part of the Outer Hebrides.
Bald Eagle I seen the other day, I only had the 100-400mm lens on. So kind of a distant shot, still happy to see this bird of prey regardless. :)
A distant Northern harrier rests among the long grasses, didn't seem to have any prey....
