Wonderful display of aurora lights near Myvatan in Iceland. I stood and watched them dance across the sky and almost forgot to take a pic or two!! Freezing biting winds makes changeling conditions to work in !
Here to brighten up your Monday morning with a Sunbittern (Eurypyga helias).
This one was photographed mid-threat display - not happy about the Little Blue Heron foraging in his patch it tried to see off the rival by revealing large and colourful eye spots on its wings.
Seen in ones or twos along the banks of rivers, lakes and marshes, they may not appear particularly dazzling at first look with their wings tucked away, hiding their beauty, but with patience you will be rewarded.
They also have a sad and almost otherwordly whistle, most often heard at dawn and dusk.
See this dazzling display for yourself on your Untamed Jaguars of Pantanal Expedition.

A male Indian peafowl (pavo cristatus) caught head-on in his courtship display. I photographed this bird in Kumana National Park, Sri Lanka. More at "Colin Pacitti Wildlife Photography & Fishing Travels" - www.colin-pacitti.com.
Continuing the nature theme: An old one taken on a dog walk in Gillingham along the river Waveney with my old Canon Ixus 700 compact digital. Not the best quality but raises a smirk anyway...
Killdeer is a Near Threatened species (IUCN Red List)
www.iucnredlist.org/species/22693777/256247816
This Killdeer deployed its distraction display, with reddish rump visible, tail spread, and wings held out while on the ground. This is typically brought into action when there is an active nest nearby, with eggs or very small young, and includes plaintive vocalizations and ‘dragging’ the body along the ground as if injured. It is continued to entice a potential predator or clumsy human away until the threat is neutralized, at which time the bird ‘miraculously’ flies off and later cautiously returns to the nest. This particular diligent parent was at Frank Lake, in southern Alberta, Canada. Here is another photo showing this behaviour www.flickr.com/photos/luminouscompositions/50653806236/in...
A colourful display provided by masses of red campion and hogweed on the clifftop between Flamborough Head and Bempton. These flowers filled the space between cultivated land and the cliff edge for well over a mile along the coastal path.
The Imperial City in Hue, Vietnam, is a former royal enclosure within the walled inner city.
Built in the early 1800's, it served as the royal residence during the French colonial period, which ended in 1945.
Amongst the many ornate structures within the extensive grounds are these 'Dragon display cases' which were apparently used to display artefacts of status and wealth.
The enclosure suffered extensive damage during the Indochinese and Vietnam wars. It is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is undergoing restoration.
I could not resit this morning to shot the sky. It was a beautiful morning, cloudy and full of sunrise colors.
Diver. A beautiful coastal bird which is migratory, usually seen in the winter in the UK. Happy S.o.S.

The British - German Club Hameln organised a bonfire and firework Display to celebrate the British "Guy Fawkes" night.

November 1605 in London ein Sprengstoff-Attentat auf dessen König Jakob I. und das englische Parlament versuchte.
As I was leaving my favorite local marsh, I saw his guy chase away another male and do this which was equivalent to a man beating his chest. Also I am sure that he was displaying for the female nearby.
He then chased away another male while I awaited another display, i.e. this one.
Passing through Happisburgh (Haysbro) today I made a short visit to the church.
A floral display, one of many recently commemorating armed forces members who have died in the line of duty. "Remembrance Day"
This is the "Show Room" of the Belle Isle Conservatory. Seasonal plantings are highlighted in this room, like a fantastic display of poinsettia for Christmas for instance.
This is the last in the series of pics from the Belle Isle Conservatory.
Back-lit giraffes at the zoo in Palm Desert, California. Although I'm not a big fan of zoos, I was a enthralled by the giraffe display. Wish I could have stayed for a sunset shot, but the zoo closed too early.
Piece on display at Corning Museum of Glass by Ginny Ruffner depicts lightening as a "creative, rather than a, destructive force."
I am heading abroad for a couple of weeks so this will be my last upload for a while. But continuing my theme of "in habitat" shots, here is a Goshawk displaying over a conifer plantation in the Peak District. It isn't my closest photograph of a Goshawk but it does capture the essence of what it is like to see one in the wild. I remember the first time I saw one displaying and was amazed at those fluffed out, gleaming white undertail coverts, almost as if it was wearing a nappy as they wrap around the tail sides. This feature shows best from above and against a dark background, but getting a view from above isn't easy. But this photograph ticks both those boxes.
