At about 9:40 this morning Waterbury Fire was dispatched to the scene of a structure fire in a house at 374 Chase Parkway. The first due engine arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the 2.5 story single family house and all of it's occupants out of the structure. Lines were quickly stretched in and as the crews advanced they experienced a flash over situation as they attempted to ventilate. The fire which appeared to be mostly in the second floor and attic space of the structure was brought under control in approximately 20 minutes by the aggressive interior attack saving the structure from major damage. Crews would remain on scene for at least an hour more to overhaul the structure. An elderly male resident of the home was take to the hospital for evaluation of possible smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Waterbury Fire Marshal's office.
