Balance and grace, throw in quick hands impeccable timing and you go some way to understanding Hashim Amla's batting, but if he had not been on the global radar before now this tour will certainly have announced him to South Africa's opponents, he may not find life quite as easy going forward. The next test match is against Australia and he can expect to be bombarded.

Shortly before 4 pm emergency services were dispatched to reports of a high-velocity collision at the intersection of Jordan Road and the South Service Road in the town of Lincoln. Upon arrival crews encountered a two vehicle MVC with one vehicle on its side in a ditch; the elderly driver trapped inside. The vehicle had also struck a hydro pole, sheering it completely. LFR Rescue 637 was also requested to the scene to assist with extricating the patient from the vehicle. Firefighters used the jaws of life to remove the vehicle’s doors and roof and successfully removed the patient. They were transported by Niagara paramedics to and out-of-town trauma centre with presumably serious injuries. All crews worked efficiently and quickly to remove the patient from the vehicle. Shortly after 11:30 am, St Catharines Fire Department, the OPP, and Niagara EMS were dispatched to the QEW in the Toronto-bound lanes near the ramp to Highway 406 for a report of a serious collision between a pick-up truck work vehicle and a transport truck (18-wheeler). Initial reports were that a pick-up truck travelling at highway speeds had struck the rear corner of a disabled transport truck parked on the right shoulder; possibly entrapping the occupant and the vehicle smoking. The pick-up truck came to rest in the centre lane of the highway with the passenger side and roof of the vehicle had been completely sheered off by the impact; one door was stuck/wedged into the transport truck.
It was a great relief to hear that not only was the driver of the pick-up truck not trapped inside, they were also not seriously injured as a result of the collision. The driver was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and within two hours the highway was re-opened with the collision scene cleared.
This stunning early 20th century window can be found in the mortuary chapel at the south west corner of St Peter & Paul in Athlone.
Though immediately adjacent to another of Richard King's (of Harry Clarke Studios) magnificent windows this is clearly by another studio/artist, though a no less worthy one.
It represents a strikingly graphic last Judgement, with particularly effective use of streaky glass used to portray the lost souls dispatched into Hell.
Together with the figures of the church's patron saints that flank the main door it is the only glass in the church not executed by the Harry Clarke workshop in Dublin.
