My all time favourite Heritage Minute. I've done the same one in morse code before, but decided to try it with an image.
Citroen Dispatch, W487NHR, customised by Gowrings Mobility for rear wheelchair access, at Bonjedward Garage, 25th July, 2011.
Dispatched at 2:46pm on the afternoon of April 12, 2025, firefighters soon arrived at the 3100 block of East Fairmount Street to find heavy black smoke pouring from the rear of a property.
The bulk of the fire and smoke was due to an automobile and carport burning behind a row of single-story bungalows, but the intense flames had already spread to a neighboring single family dwelling as well. Additional companies were requested, while crews on scene worked to contain fire on both properties and prevent any further spread. 38 firefighters achieved a knockdown of all fire within 22 minutes, enabling the Incident Commander to cancel the additional incoming companies.
All occupants were evacuated from the affected structures and assessed by paramedics on scene, with no injuries reported.

One of our Communications Officers had occasion to make a difference in the lives of a family who’s 13 month old son was in seizure and having difficulty breathing. The day after the emergency call the mother stopped by to thank our Telecommunicator Jim Geuther and gave him a big hug. The boy is fine thanks to actions of the Communications Officer and pre-arrival instructions. They will be printing the story with photos of the Communications Officer, the Mother and Son who joined us today for our potluck dinner. The story will not only focus on this event but all our Officers who handle similar calls on a daily basis; our Everyday Heroes.

Now sadly a charred shell of her former splender, the once magnificent 2 masted schooner, Dispatch, hails from the wild waters of Caledonia and a time long since forgotten.
Hewed of Scottish pine baulks cut from surrounding forests and floated raft like to the mouth of the Spey to Kingston, these sad remains are all that exist of the once mighty Geddie ship-building empire based on the rugged east coast.
Conceived in 1888 of necessity for use in the distant Newfoundland fish trade this sturdy little cross braced schooner epitomises a nation’s steadfast vision of ingenuity and displays both gusto and several unique shipbuilding techniques which in there own way were to revolutionise the way timber vessel were to be built.
Shortly before 9am Waterbury Fire was dispatched for a motor vehicle accident with extrication at 1147 West Main St. The crews of Engine 8, Ladder 1, and Rescue 9 found one man pinned in his overturned car at the intersection of West Main and Ledgeside. They quickly went to work stabilizing the car, pulling a line for fire protection, and assembling the Hurst Tool and cutters to free the driver from the car. Within ten minutes they had him free of the vehicle and assisted in packaging him for the waiting EMS crews. He was transported to Waterbury Hospital, which was several blocks away, where he evaluated and treated for his injuries sustained as a result of the crash.
