Dat het kriebelde om naar de spoorlijnen langs de Rijn te gaan, heb ik al bij mijn laatste actuele foto uit Lorch geschreven.
En ja hoor, gisteren 18 september 2024 was het dan nog eens zover. Wouter en ikzelf hadden om 6 uur 's ochtends de rit aangevat richting Unkel, waar we spijtig genoeg in de hoognevel terecht kwamen. We hadden wel al zon gezien tussen Keulen en Bonn, dus werden ter plekke de weerapps geconsulteerd om te zien waar de nevel al weggetrokken zou zijn.
Terug naar het noorden rijden leek uitgesloten wegens (bijna) geen fotopunten in de ochtend tussen Köln en Bonn langs de rechterkant van de Rijn (links was omzeggens toe wegens werkzaamheden).
Dan maar naar het zuiden.
Mogelijkheden waren er in Leutesdorf (maar daar zaten we nog steeds in de nevel) en bij Koblenz - waar het trouwens al de hele tijd zonnig was.
Urbar werd uitgekozen als eerste punt en we kregen er na de doorkomst van de - te laat rijdende - lokaaltrein direct deze knaller voor de lens.
De Bundesbahnfeeling trok voorbij in de vorm van een ellenlange Sonderzug van Centralbahn met hun mooie kasten E10 op kop!

And yes, on the 18th September 2024, my brother and myself made finally another excursion to the railways in the Rhine valley.
Due to engineering works the one on the left bank was almost without traffic, so Unkel was our first destination after departure in our hometown.
To our regrets the sun wasn't shining here in the morning, so we looked on out weather apps for locations without fog. And it seemed to be that the region around Coblence could already benefit plenty of sunshine, so we moved rather quickly to Urbar, where we could photograph after a little waiting time, this special charter train of Centralbahn.
Yeah, that was a nice beginning of the day!

On the low down (and, in fact, back on my belly) with a view along the Harbourside in Bristol looking towards the setting sun. strangely despondent feel about this one. Like the ending of a movie or something
De nuevo Atxabiribil, Sopelana (Bizkaia), en esa tarde de nubes grises potentes, viendo otro angulo de los posibles. Utilice un filtro ND 1.2 de Tiffen y un degradado 0.9 de Lee para dar ese aire de "fin del mundo" en el cielo. Con Photoshop aumente contraste y toque los niveles un pelin ya que estaba bastante bien de luz para mi gusto. Aumento de nitidez y filtro ruido para el cielo.

Ici on assiste en direct à la dérive des continents, l'Amérique se séparant de l'Europe. Chaque rive se trouve sur une plaque tectonique différente. La faille de l'Almannagja déchire le paysage sur plusieurs kilomètres et c'est dans ce cadre spectaculaire que les islandais créèrent le premier parlement au monde, l'Althing, en 930.

When following this Heron, all manner of beasties showed up. I was trained on him, but saw some ducks fly into the area. They quickly landed and began to swim into my frame. Just as quickly, adjustments were made on the camera, then the lens, and a different story took fold.
The congestion was mounting, Geese, Heron, and Seals were now all present. Each going about their own business and for a moment, the ocean seamed crowded. However, all stayed in their lanes as traffic tends to do. And, the Heron stood like an intersection Officer from decades ago, directing traffic.

It can happen to anyone, from any walk of life.
20 years ago I had a career that I was incredibly proud of, saving lives, I had a home, mortgage, car and disposable income. I was confident and, even though I hate to blow my own trumpet, I was incredibly good at the work that I did.
I was, however, bullied, harassed, abused, belittled and ostracised by management and many colleagues in a toxic environment where this behaviour had spread like a cancer. This went on daily for 13 years. I thought that I was 'ignoring' it and just knuckling down in my work. I didn't know, until it was too late, that this was damaging both my physical and mental health.
After some time off due to a stress breakdown I returned and the bullying turned into a witch hunt. They succeeded. My mental and physical health had been destroyed. I was wrongly advised to resign by a union that had representatives embedded in management. I was too unwell to pursue any means of recompense.
Losing my career lead to my first Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy attack. This one was nearly fatal.
I have suffered from Complex Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD) for at least 20 years as a direct result of this. Only finally receiving help for the condition last year after years of medical denial because the establishment at the time did not understand the connection between non-life threatening instances and PTSD despite mounting evidence. Thankfully it is much better understood today.
The bullies took my career, my confidence, my identity, my physical health, my mental health and now they have taken my relationship and my home. My ex being unable to cope with my PTSD and reacting to it in a way that was making it worse in a cycle that just destroyed our relationship.
Now, unable to work and unable to claim benefits for the moment, unwell, terrified and struggling at times to cope with basic life things, I am facing this horrendous situation that is so daunting there are times that my thoughts go to a very dark place.
I never imagined any of this would happen to me. I was on top of the world back in the early 2000s. The best time of my entire life.
Maybe I deserved this. Maybe I did something terrible in a former life. I don't know. I can't make sense of it.
I don't want to give up just yet. I want to fight back. I just have so little actual physical support. PTSD can cause isolation. Distrust. Withdrawal.
I have lost my few best friends since moving to Scotland for numerous reasons outside of my control. My family are 300 miles away and offer just loving thoughts. I am on my own.
On Friday I will be completely on my own for the first time in 20 years. This time without the confidence and abilities I had back then. I have to try and find them but without safety, comfort and familiarity I face an impossible task. It can take monumental effort just to cook a simple meal. PTSD is a terrible thing to have.
I am sharing my story as I don't know when or how I will return to Flickr.
Photography has been my recovery. My saviour from PTSD. An adrenaline kick from street photography, the excitement of the edit when you return home. Sharing my photographs with you and taking time to enjoy your photographs. The Flickr routine has kept my sanity and been an important part of my day for years now. I fully intend to return but the odds are against me at least for the moment.
Some of you wanted to help by donating towards the expensive Internet costs I will face in temporary housing.
I hate asking for help but please know that I am incredibly grateful for the help that I have received, both financially and otherwise. Just knowing that people care is a help in itself.

La Cité de Carcassonne est un ensemble architectural médiéval qui se trouve dans la ville française de Carcassonne dans le département de l'Aude, région du Languedoc-Roussillon. Elle est située sur la rive droite de l'Aude, au sud-est de la ville actuelle. Cette cité médiévale fortifiée, dont les origines remontent à la période gallo-romaine, doit sa renommée à sa double enceinte, atteignant près de 3 km de longueur1 et comportant cinquante-deux tours1, qui domine de manière spectaculaire la vallée de l'Aude. La Cité comprend également un château (le château comtal) et une basilique (la basilique Saint-Nazaire).
Sauvée de la destruction par l'action et la ténacité de l'archéologue Jean-Pierre Cros-Mayrevieille, puis restaurée au xixe siècle de manière parfois controversée sous la direction de Viollet-le-Duc puis de Boeswillwald, la Cité de Carcassonne est, depuis 19972, classée au patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO. Le château comtal, les fortifications, et les tours appartiennent à l'État et sont gérés par le centre des monuments nationaux3, tandis que les lices4 et l reste de la Cité font partie du domaine municipal.

Nadat de directe trein van Chojnice naar Hel voor de tweede keer was gefotografeerd keerden we langzaam terug naar Chojnice, maar niet voordat we hem een derde keer vastlegden. Dat deden we aan de uitrit van het station Starogard Gdanski, dat (destijds...) zelfs aan weerszijden was voorzien van klassieke beveiliging. Dankzij het bewolkte weer konden we daar ook nog de enige trein opwachten die staatsvervoerder PKP op de Ostbahn uitbaat in de vorm van de TLK "Bory Tucholskie". Nadien keerden we langzaam terug naar Chojnice, terwijl het wolkendek steeds verder optrok. Dat zette mij op het idee om een poging te doen voor een stoptrein vanuit Chojnice naar Tczew, die we onderweg zouden kruisen. Hoewel de zonstand op de meeste plekken haaks op de lijn stond, wilde ik het toch proberen getuig de reële kans op een Wadloper. Na wat onderzoek onderweg besloten we ad-hoc naar het weinig zeggende station Gutowiec te gaan om rit daar op te wachten. Daar we de trein tegemoet reden hoefden we niet lang te wachten totdat de frontseinen van inderdaad een Wadloper naderden. Zo ontstond vrij onverwachts al mijn eerste zonplaatje van dit treintype:
Ongeveer een halve dag na het avondplaatje treffen we de SKPL SN83-004 in dienst van Polregio voor een tweede keer. Ditmaal onderweg de andere kant op passeert de "Mieciu" ons al remmend om een stop te maken in Gutowiec, onder toeziend oog van de seinwachtster. Het zou achteraf één van de weinige zonnige momenten zijn waarin we een Wadloper fotografeerden, dus kan ik alleen maar blij zijn dat we deze keus toen hebben gemaakt... To be continued! ;)

Mardi 8 février 2022, étant de passage à Roanne, petit détour sur la Loire afin d’immortaliser quelques trains. Le dernier train surpris en ce beau jour hivernal est le train Sibelin St Germain des Fossés 75018. Il est composé en ce jour là d’une habituelle UM de 75400 et de tombereaux qui seront chargés de Feldspath chez Imerys à Lavaufranche et iront ensuite à Modene en Italie.

LABUAN BAJO (iNDONESIA)
Labuan Bajo es un pueblo de pescadores, con un epíteto totalmente en castellano: "bajo", ubicado en el extremo occidental de la gran isla de Flores en la provincia de Nusa Tenggara Oriental de Indonesia . Es la capital de la Regencia de West Manggarai, una de las ocho regencias que son las principales divisiones administrativas de Flores.
Turismo
Una vez que fue un pequeño pueblo de pescadores, Labuan Bajo (también escrito Labuhanbajo y Labuanbajo) es ahora un centro turístico y un centro de gobierno para la región circundante. Offered once again as a comparison to the preceding image of Amtrak 662 which was captured at nearly the same angle over 23 years later. Amtrak 916 leads a regional consist east through Edison, NJ. Based on the time of day and consist, this may have been train 95, the Old Dominion. Back then trains still carried names, although the "Northeast Direct" designation (a precursor to today's Northeast Regional service) did appear in the timetable as well.

Si pueden escuchar la voz de Dios, está directamente relacionado con si podemos dar la bienvenida al Señor sea llevado al reino celestial.

I was walking around the beach at sunset with my Polaroid, looking for a nice scene with the ocean, the sun going down... but nothing stood out.
While I was going back to where I came from, I met this group of guys playing football. One of them looked at the Polaroid and started doing that face "Oh, cool camera! Take us a picture!". I just replied: "If you'd just were playing by the ocean...".
This shot is the direct result of his answer: "Well, let's do it!".

Samedi 7 février 2022, le soleil est présent en cette belle journée hivernale et un tour en Savoie pour les pointes d’hivers est effectué. C’est à la fin de la journée peut avant Landry que le Thalys 9986 Bourg St Maurice - Bruxelles passent sous nos objectifs, dans un sublimes décors alpins. Il est assuré en ce jour par les rames PBA 4535 et la rame PBKA 4332, elles sont misent en boîte quelques minutes après avoir quitté Bourg St Maurice.
