Trillingeranke - Bougainvillea, Reflections

I was recently standing along a back road here in Alaska, taking in the beauty of spring. Leaves were popping out around me - beautiful snow covered mountains surrounded me - and the sun was warm on my shoulders - when suddenly . . . (with great fanfare and much squawking) - two Canadian Geese settled down not far from where I stood. After their long flight, I think they were in need of some rest, and maybe a long drink from one of the many ponds that dot our vast wilderness.

Doc has downed a lot of firewood over the years - always being sure to harvest the trees that are old and about to fall down on their own. When you are young, you harvest trees furthest from your cabin door, thereby leaving the trees nearest your cabin for old age, at which time you are running out of both strength and stamina. HSS!

I sought the wood in winter

When every leaf was dead;

Behind the wind-whipped branches

The winter sun set red.

The coldest star was rising

To greet that bitter air,

The oaks were writhen giants;

Nor bud nor bloom was there.

The birches, white and slender,

In deathless marble stood,

The brook, a white immortal,

Slept silent in the wood.

Decided to play a bit in PS, just turned on the show 45 minutes early with still a bit of light left in the sky.

The advantages to set up in the light and don't move the tripod anymore.

The images of the faltering lotus leaf and the waterlily were taken in the garden ponds at the RBG.

The camera settings shown are of the lotus leaf (main image). The pond was cleared of unwanted reflections/plants and the waterlily was added for visual balance.

I'm afraid this will be another post and run posting flickr friends , a bit hectic this evening .But I'll try to catch up with all your photostreams later ,even on those weeks I haven't checked yet ,darn me !
