Golden Gull or Golden Girl? This waterscape scene was shot at the Ponce De Leon Historical Park in Punta Gorda, Florida. It is a mecca for sunset lovers and plumed bird watchers alike.
Obvioiusly, I'm still having fun using my photographs as the foundation for creating composites (hopefully others besides me will view it as an artistic expression). This composite was created using the original scene shot on the shoreline of Charlotte Harbor in the Ponce De Leon Historical Park in Punta Gorda, Florida (sans the kayak and seagulls). The kayak/kayaker and all of the seagulls were royalty free downloads (my thanks to those photographers!). However, the boat in the background was part of the original scene.

The lake is still in the process of thawing, but it looked pretty in the early morning light - dead weeds and all.
These are the kind of shots I enjoy putzing around with in Photoshop on a gloomy day.
A combination of 3 images taken on the same day... horse...fence...tree. The fence was used to create a higher elevation for the foreground (horse) by placing it half way up the frozen tree canopy. The camera settings shown are of the tree.
When I spotted this old dock - I thought of all of the scary ghost stories that could be woven around it. Bet my Flickr friends could come up with some dandies.

Yet another rippled image from a photo of the giant glass canopy over Pike street at the 7th Avenue entrance to the convention center.
Little by little, time crumbles the structures and eats away at the facades. In this drafty palace, even the ghosts of former enemies have been swept away.
Initially I contemplated a minimalist approach with just the bird on the lamp post... but going through my images of water reflections I felt this is a good fill for the negative space.

A beautiful day in Auke Bay Alaska - had a lot of boat owners catching up on maintenance, before heading out to sea.
The harbors in Southeast Alaska have always fascinated me, and I am drawn to them like a moth to a flame. I love the fishy smell of the ocean, and the sounds of the seagulls as they swoop overhead looking for the bits and pieces of fish tossed from the cleaning tables on the docks.
As Doc and I strolled to our moored boat - we would stop and chat with fellow boat owners along the way. One day as we were heading for our berth - I smelled fresh fish frying and stopped to see who was tempting me. A head popped out from the cabin of the boat beside us, and the grizzled old gentleman asked if I had ever tried "old yellow eye". I confessed that not only had I never tried "old yellow eye" - but that I had never even heard of it. He popped back into his cabin, and back out again, with a large cast iron frying pan containing the most delicious rock fish I had ever tasted. In fact, I always thought that nothing in the sea could top "halibut" - until I got my first taste of "yellow eye". Now I am the one that is "hooked."
Come walk with me
Along the sea
Where dusk sits on the land
And search with me
For shells are free,
And treasures hide in sand.

I captured this photo in Haines Alaska, as storm clouds swirled over the mountains leading to a torrential downpour.
“Come, little leaves,” said the wind one day,
“Come o'er the meadows with me and play;
Put on your dresses of red and gold,
For summer is gone and the days grow cold.”
Soon as the leaves heard the wind’s loud call,
Down they came fluttering, one and all;
Over the brown fields they danced and flew,
singing the glad little songs they knew.
“Cricket, goodbye, we’ve been friends so long;
Little brook, sing us your farewell song;
Say you are sorry to see us go;
Ah, you will miss us, right well we know.
"Dear little lambs in your fleecy fold,
Mother will keep you from harm and cold;
fondly we watched you in vale and glade;
Say, will you dream of our loving shade?”
Dancing and whirling, the little leaves went;
Winter had called them, and they were content;
soon, fast asleep in their earthy beds,
The snow laid a coverlid over their heads.
(Poet: George Cooper.)
** (The thermometer beside our cabin door, read 24 F. degrees this morning. Autumn winds have been blowing leaves from the trees, leaving a blanket of gold on the forest floor. Snow is making its way down our tallest mountain peaks, and road construction is winding down.
Warmer jackets now hang beside our cabin door, and winter boots have been placed beneath them.
Doc has removed our truck camper and winterized it - (one of the last big chores of the season). All of our winter provisions have been stored, and now we await our first snowfall. )
