A Chemnitz Citybahn on the mainline on its way to Chemnitz Central Station and the city center. 25 maart 2016

Diesel-powered NS DM 90 waiting for departure for Enschede via Almelo and Hengelo in an Autumn admosphere. Since December 2017 this line is operated by Keolis and these DM 90 diesel trains are withdrawn from the service. Keolis operates the line by electric trains of the type Flirt built by Stadler.

NS DM 90

The NS Class 3400 diesel multiple units were built by Duewag, Talbot and SIG between 1996 and 1998. They operate in the Netherlands. They are operated by the Nederlandse Spoorwegen and some were on loan to Syntus. The class is referred to as DM'90 or Buffel by the Dutch, which means Buffalo. Class 3400 are now the only DMUs in service with the NS, the older DE3 ("Plan U") and DH1/2 ("Wadloper") series having been replaced by the diesel electric Stadler GTW. DM'90 is short for Dieselmaterieel 90, meaning Diesel rolling stock from the 1990s.

In 1993, NS ordered 53 units of the class from Talbot, now Bombardier. The electrical systems, train controls, and diagnostic systems were delivered by Holec Ridderkerk, now Alstom. Duewag installed the interiors of the trains in Krefeld, after which the units were transferred to the Netherlands. Unit 3401 was delivered on March 12, 1996, and the last unit, 3453, was brought into service in 1998.

The rolling stock was introduced in the end of the 1990s on a large portion of the non-electrified lines in the Netherlands. In the period thereafter many of these routes were transferred to private sector operators, Syntus and several other operators used the sets for their services, others were temporarily used on electrified sectors for local services.

In December 2017, almost all trainsets were sold to the Romanian FeroTrans. On 10 December, all remaining trains intended for Romania in Nijmegen were drawn up.

Oppuurs, 14 oktober 2023.

At the small railway yard of Valga, the wind blows quietly, and the sun shines between next to the clouds. At the same time, Operail's tanker train prepares to leave the apparently not silent yard, as engines of class C36-7i diesels are roaring during the bright afternoon.

Clouds seem to block the blue sky, but despite that, the colour is apparent on the lakes and other water surfaces. But soon, another type of surface makes a quick appearance, and Fenniarail's empty timber train is curving next to the shores of Mäntyharju while travelling to Haapamäki.

There's a lot of trackside interest along the way, as a sparkling new "Black Caviar" CF4412 and fellow loco, "Revenue" CF4411 on 6L43, run off the John Whitton Bridge on a test jaunt to Gosford.

Both locos have just been commissioned by their owners CFCLA in a special ceremony at Central Station, near Sydney's CBD.

The lead loco has taken its naming after a famous living Australian race horse a step further, by being freshly decked out in Black Caviar's jockey's colours, Salmon and Black!

The view from this spot is now blocked by woody weeds of several shapes and sizes.
