After a guided tour of Barcelona by coach (in the rain), our tour guide took us for a scheduled visit to the Sagrada Familia, at about 12:30pm CEST (we arrived a bit early). After queuing up, and getting through airport style security, we were giving a earphones set and a listening device.
Had a small bit of free time inside, then we regrouped and exited the Sagrada Familia. Was a security gate to exit onto Carrer de la Marina. My camera was still wet from the earlier rain, so the photos I took here came out a bit misty.
The Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família (Catalan: [səˈɣɾaðə fəˈmili.ə]; Spanish: Templo Expiatorio de la Sagrada Familia; "Expiatory Church of the Holy Family") is a large unfinished Roman Catholic church in Barcelona. Designed by Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí (1852–1926), his work on the building is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In November 2010, Pope Benedict XVI consecrated the church and proclaimed it a minor basilica.
In 1882, construction of Sagrada Família began under architect Francisco DE Paula Del Villa. In 1883, when Villa resigned, Gaudí took over as chief architect, transforming the project with his architectural and engineering style, combining Gothic and curvilinear Art Nouveau forms. Gaudí devoted the remainder of his life to the project, and he is buried in the crypt. At the time of his death at age 73 in 1926, when he was run down by a tram, less than a quarter of the project was complete.
Relying solely on private donations, Granada Familiar's construction progressed slowly and was interrupted by the Spanish Civil War. In July 1936, revolutionaries set fire to the crypt and broke their way into the workshop, partially destroying Gaudí's original plans, drawings and plaster models, which led to 16 years work to piece together the fragments of the master model. Construction resumed to intermittent progress in the 1950s. Advancements in technologies such as computer aided design and computerized numerical control (CNC) have since enabled faster progress and construction past the midpoint in 2010. However, some of the project's greatest challenges remain, including the construction of ten more spires, each symbolising an important Biblical figure in the New Testament. It is anticipated that the building can be completed by 2026, the centenary of Gaudí's death.
The basilica has a long history of splitting opinion among the residents of Barcelona: over the initial possibility it might compete with Barcelona's cathedral, over Gaudí's design itself, over the possibility that work after Gaudí's death disregarded his design, and the 2007 proposal to build a tunnel of Spain's high-speed rail link to France which could disturb its stability. Describing Sagrada Família, art critic Rainer Zerbst said "it is probably impossible to find a church building anything like it in the entire history of art", and Paul Goldberger describes it as "the most extraordinary personal interpretation of Gothic architecture since the Middle Ages".

Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) for short, molecular formula (CH - CH) N, is the most important type of vinyl polymer, is the world's second only to polyethylene plastic varieties. In the domestic production of plastic in the first place. In the printing industry, polyvinyl chloride color calendering film and transparent glazing film are often used to make books, folders, tickets and other covers of the packaging decoration.

After heat treatment, the film is tightly wrapped on the packaging, the shrinkage force reaches the maximum in the cooling stage, and can be preserved for a long time.

LDPE-- Low density polyethylene
Low density polyethylene, referred to as LDPE is the largest variety of plastic packaging and printing industry in the world. The specific gravity of 0.92~0.93, can float in water. Low crystallinity (60%), in the pressure of 1000~3000kg/C square meter body polymerization, so also known as high pressure polyethylene. At 23 degrees Celsius, the density is about 0.92. Poor calendering molding, suitable for blow molding process into tubular film. Suitable for food packaging, fiber products packaging, daily chemical products packaging.

HDPE-- High density polyethylene
High density polyethylene, referred to as HDPE. The density is 0.941~0.965g/ cc. With low pressure polymerization, it is also known as low pressure polyethylene. Milky white, indicating poor luster. Film processing can be blow molding and T - die extrusion process. Heat resistance to cooking, cold resistance to freezing, moistureproof, air proof, good isolation performance, and not easy to damage, the strength of LDPE two times. Easy to open. Paper - like strong, known as "paper - like plastic film".

BOPP-- bi-directional stretch polypropylene film
Biaxial tensile polypropylene film, also known as biaxial tensile polypropylene film, English abbreviation code BOPP, is characterized by tensile molecular orientation, mechanical strength, folding strength, gas density, moisture barrier is better than ordinary plastic film. Compared with cellophane, the unit price is lower than cellophane. Due to the excellent transparency of this film, the color reproduction after printing is particularly bright and beautiful, which is an important base material of plastic composite flexible packaging.
This is a photograph from the Rathfarnham 5KM Road Race and Fun Run which took place in Rathfarnham, Co. Dublin, Ireland on Sunday 29th September 2013 at 10:00.
This is one of the most popular runs in South County Dublin and is held in support of St. Luke's Cancer Hospital, Rathgar. This year's race attracted over 1,300 participants and the run is open to runners, joggers and walkers. The course is one of the fastest 5ks in the country with a downhill start and finish. This is an excellently organised race with marhsalling at every junction and Garda enforced road closures for the duration of the race.

Overall Race Summary
Participants: There was a record number of participants with over 1,300 people taking to the start line.
Weather: This race was held on a beautiful autumn morning. There was little or no breeze and there was mild temperatures of around 15C for the race.
Course: Overall this course is a flat and fast course. There is a net gain of 15M over the whole course with slightly downhill gradients at the start and towards the finish. The course is completely left-handed which makes for favourable conditions. All being equal the course provides an excellent opportunity for every from elite competitors to joggers to set a fast time for themselves.
The race starts at the easterly side of the N81 Tempelogue Road and Springfield Avenue. The start area is shown here on Google StreetView (goo.gl/maps/kg7FY). The race follows Springfield Avenue along the side of Bushy Park. The race overlaps the final kilometer and the finish as it proceeds to the Rathfarnham Road (Shown here Google Streetview goo.gl/maps/gRrI6). The route heads north on Rathfarnham road as there is a very gentle incline until the junction with the Temleogue Road is reached and runners make a sharp left turn onto the N81 (shown here Google StreetView goo.gl/maps/51S2t). The race then heads south along Templeogue Road where the runners can see the course unfold straight infront of them. The race turns left at Springfield Avenue again (start area) and the final Kilometer is as the first to the finish area (Google Streetview goo.gl/maps/1R08S) just before the Rathfarnham Road Junction.

For many years, as a requirement of the course, Occupational Adaptations and Introduction to Modalities, students make assistive devices of potential use to people with disabilities.
On Wednesday March 18, 2015 MOT students showcased their devices during class.
www.AquaComb.com - (941) 922-7786 Mi-Way Inc. is a family owned design and manufacturing company. We are a USA based company in which all parts are USA made. Assembly and packaging are done in Sarasota and Clearwater, Florida. The president of the company Mark A. Schreiber has over 30 years of plant, product and machine design engineering experience as well as many years of production management. The Aqua Comb was invented by Mark out of frustration with trying to clean his own pool filter. He later found that the principles that make the Aqua Comb such a great filter cleaning device with modifications could be applied to cleaning horses, dogs and many other animals very effectively. Our company is focused on making high quality products using USA labor and materials.
Largo de Carmo is a small, tree-lined square at the back of Igreja do Carmo. This is a place worth spending a few minutes to enjoy before or after visits to the church ruins and museum. This is where you find the entrance to this attraction as well.
Here you will find several restaurants lining the square with outdoor seating as well as an interesting fountain structure designed by Angelo Belasco in 1771. The fountain adds to the atmosphere of the square and is worth having a quick look-see.
This is a good spot to take a break from sightseeing if you fancy a sit-down, bite to eat and/or drink. The atmosphere is nice and the square feels more intimate and quieter than the many larger plazas spread around the city.
Continuing my exploration of sketching on alternative devices and comparing them to using a pen on a sketchbook. Same subject, different media.
Upper left: LCD tablet using the included stylus, scanned and inverted using the Jot app on the iPad. $20 USD.
Upper right: Rocketbook Mini using a Pilot Frixion black ballpoint pen, scanned and saved using the Rocketbook app on the iPhone. The Rocketbook page can be reused by wiping it clean with a damp cloth or tissue. $15 USD.
Lower left: Ophaya pad and pen. The pen stores data only when you use a special paper. It then uses Bluetooth to transfer the data to the Ophaya Pro + app on a phone, tablet, or desktop computer. You can save the image as mp4 (a movie of the drawing) or as a PDF or PNG file. $49 USD.
Lower right: for comparison a scanned image in a sketchbook using a Frixion black ballpoint pen. This sketchbook is made of mineral paper which wipes clean with a damp cloth or tissue like the Rocketbook so you can reuse the page. $32 USD.
Each of these has its advantages and disadvantages depending on your purpose. If you already have a flatbed scanner, it is hard to beat the versatility, portability, and pleasure of drawing with ink on paper. If you don’t want to waste a lot of paper making thumbnails
or exploring compositional ideas, then a Rocketbook or LCD panel might fit your need. I really can’t recommend the Ophaya pad and pen as it is the most expensive to buy, requires special paper, and has no clear advantages over the other media other than being a very cool technology.
This is a photograph from the St. Tola's National School 5KM Road Race and Fun Run which was held at St. Tola's National School, Killulagh, Delvin, Co. Westmeath, Ireland on Sunday 7th June 2015 at 12:00. The race event was organised to raise funds for the building, development and support of the gymnasium building in the School. The race followed a loop course which started and finished in the vicinity of the school ground. The weather was warm, sunny and dry which is a great improvement on the weather of previous days. This made very good conditions for running. There was a very impressive spread of refreshments for runners in the school gymnasium afterwards where the presentations of prizes were made. The school is a small rural primary school with about 170 pupils and the funds generated today will be greatly welcomed by the pupils, teachers and parents. There was event organisational support provided by Westmeath Sports Partnership who are dedicated to the promotion and development of sport in Westmeath. Overall this was a very enjoyable event with very positive feedback from everyone who took park.

The Powered Fiber Cable System improves speed and simplifies installation, powering, and communication of network devices – at 30x the distance of traditional CAT cable systems. Deployment of HD cameras, Wi-Fi access points, optical network terminals, small cells, and other network-access devices can be challenging, especially in outdoor environments. Many of these devices accept a PoE input for power and communications, but distance limitations, power availability, and device placement throw a wrench in network planning.
The opposite side of the cylinder had the heavy duty threaded caped end as seen. Coming out of that end was a tube that went into the ground, and it was about 2 inches in diameter. As per Halifax.ca, Float by Brandon Vickerd (2023) consists of replicas of pool flotation devices cast in bronze and installed in locations around the Halifax Commons Aquatic Facility.
Electronic devices such as USB flash are great promotional items/giveaways. These custom printed items are used as marketing tools for companies. Giveaways are most often used to promote or sell a new product, company or service, generate leads for businesses or create market awareness.
This is a photograph from the first running of the Killyon 5KM Fun Run and Walk which was held at Moran's, Hill-of-Down, Killyon, Enfield, Co. Meath, Ireland on Sunday 22nd June 2014 at 11:00. The run was organised to raise funds for the Killyon National School Building Fund. This was a very well organised event. The whole Killyon/Hill-of-Down community were out in force helping with every aspect of the race organisation. Race Headquarters was Moran's Pub ("The Hill").
The race started on a local boreen about 1.5KM from the Finish Area. The run then proceeded on a clockwise direction over the Hill-of-Down to Langan's Cross. Taking a right here the run went to the next Canal bridge at Ballasport. The final 1.5KM were run on the beautiful bank of the Royal Canal which brought participants back up to Moran's and the finish line. Interestingly the race crossed the Canal twice and crossed over and under the Dublin Sligo Railway line. Hill-of-Down was once a station on this railway but closed in the 1960s. No trace of the station remains today.
Congratulations to everyone involved in the race and on it's first running this turned out as a brilliant success. The event will hopefully become an annual event.

But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!

A few weeks ago there was a post on the Adafruit blog about such a puke flash light. Today I happened to see this on TV.
Often I was so glad to be cooled or warmed by the climate controlled lab atmosphere that I didn't even notice what they were doing. I just know how to use these things from OSU.
We'd never have had a reason to go in there at all if the CD player wasn't in their storage closet.
Hurst Castle is situated at the seaward end of the shingle spit that extends 1.5 miles from Milford-On-Sea. The end of the spit, only three-quarters of a mile from the Isle of Wight, and the views from the top of the centre keep are spectacular. Hurst Castle on the south coast of England is one of Henry VIII's Device Forts, built at the end of a long shingle spit at the west end of the Solent to guard the approaches to Southampton. Hurst Castle was sited at the narrow entrance to the Solent where the ebb and flow of the tides create strong currents, putting would-be invaders at its mercy. Also known as a Henrician Castle, Hurst was built as part of Henry's chain of coastal defences to protect England during the turbulent times of his reign. Charles I was imprisoned here in 1648 before being taken to London to his trial and execution. The fort was modified throughout the 19th century, and two large wing batteries were built to house heavy guns. It was fortified again in World War II and then decommissioned. It is now owned by English Heritage and is open to the public.
Hurst Castle is a fort consisting of a circular stone tower strengthened by semicircular bastions of later dates. It was erected by Henry VIII to defend the approach to Southampton Water against the French. The recommendation that a castle be built on Hurst Point was made in 1539 by William FitzWilliam, 1st Earl of Southampton and William Paulet, 1st Marquess of Winchester. By 1540 some kind of fortification existed but details are scarce. The work on the castle proper took several years and was finished by the end of 1544. The first captain of the castle was Thomas Bertie. In 1561 Thomas Carew was captain. The establishment at that time consisted of the captain, his deputy, porter and a master gunner, a deputy's man, eight soldiers, another for the porter and 11 gunners. Thomas Carew was succeeded on his death by Sir Thomas Gorges, who in 1593 petitioned for the repair of the platforms, which were so decayed as to be incapable of supporting the guns. Sir Edward Gorges, afterwards Baron Gorges of Dundalk, succeeded his father as captain in 1610. In 1635 most of the bronze ordnance in the castle was exchanged for iron. In 1642, in the absence of the captain, the castle was occupied by Captain Richard Swanley for the King and Parliament. It was the last prison of Charles I before being moved to Windsor before his trial; he was brought here on the last day of November 1648 from Newport. Lord Gorges was succeeded in the captaincy by Colonel Thomas Eyre, who in 1650 secured a grant of further ordinance and an increase in the number of soldiers stationed there.
In the year following the Restoration Colonel Eyre lost his post, and Edward Strange was appointed captain, the office of governor being allowed to lapse. In January 1661 Charles II ordered the garrison to be disbanded and an estimate made of the expense of demolishing the castle; the latter idea was, however, speedily dropped, and five months later, although the forces were paid off, arrangements were made for additions involving an increase in the annual expenditure. In 1666 it was decided that the castle should be garrisoned by men from Sir Robert Holmes' company on the Isle of Wight. This was not done until 1671 owing to the state of disrepair in which the castle was. Sir Robert, who was governor of the Island, reported that there was scarcely a gun mounted and no stores or provisions in the castle; nothing, however, was done, and three years later he wrote complaining that there was hardly a room not fallen in and into which the rain did not come. Repairs were then taken in hand and the garrison established, Captain Strange becoming governor. In 1675 a master gunner and three other gunners were added to the establishment, there being then nearly 30 guns mounted at the castle. In the same year Sir John Holmes petitioned for leave to purchase the governorship, and this being granted him he was appointed to the post. Captain Roach, who was captain of the castle at this time, having murdered a certain Lieutenant Newman, fled to Yarmouth, and borrowing a black cloak took boat to Hurst, where he was arrested. In 1689 Henry Holmes was appointed to the captaincy. 19th century ~ The fort's tower was rebuilt around 1805 during the Napoleonic Wars. In the 1850's the dock was built as well as the west battery. Recommendations by the 1859 Royal Commission report, led to the castle being re fortified, and two large wing batteries were built to house 30 heavy guns. In 1873 a new east wing was built and a new entrance to the castle was driven through the northeast bastion. Around 1889 the magazine roof was reinforced with more concrete; the staircases and rooms within the tower were rebuilt; and the tower roof was adapted for modern gun mountings. A coastal battery was built in 1893.
