This shot is from my first roll of colour developed at home. It was much more exciting and stressful than doing B&W! I think the results came out ok, if not a bit grainy! Any advice on how to reduce the noise a bit?

Livingston was one of the ‘new towns’ created after WWII to relieve the need for housing in urban areas. Livingston Development Corporation (LDC) was set up by the New Town (Livingston) (Development Corporation) Order 1962 to create and co-ordinate new industrial activity in West Lothian and to manage the population over-spill from Glasgow by providing new homes and employment. LDC wound up in1997, when its functions were transferred to West Lothian Council.

The kit and its assembly:
This whif kitbashing was inspired by real design studies from General Dynamics that show evolutionary developments of the F-16 in a no-tail configuration, but with an enlarged diamond-shaped wing shape (much like the F-22's), obviously based on the F-16XL. Additionally you find several similar fantasy CG designs in the WWW – the basic idea seems to have potential. And when I stumbled across the remains of a Revell X-32 in my stash and an Intech F-16A kit, I wondered if these could not be reasonably combined...?
What sounds easy eventually ended up in a massive bodywork orgy. The Intech kit (marketed under the Polish Master Craft Label) is horrible, the worst F-16 kit I have ever seen or tried to build - it's cheap and you get what you pay for. Maybe the PM Model F-16 is worse (hard to believe, but sprue pics I saw suggest it), but the Intech kits are …challenging. This thing is like a blurred picture of an F-16: you recognize the outlines, but nothing is sharp and no part matches any other! Stay away.
Well, actually only the fuselage, the cockpit and parts of the Intech kit's landing gear survived. The X-32 kit is, on the other side, a sound offering. It was not complete anymore, since I donated parts like the cockpit and the landing gear to my SAAB OAS 41 'Vيًarr' stealth aircraft from Sweden some time ago, but there were many good parts left to work with. Especially the aerodynamic surfaces (wings and V-tail) attained my interest: these parts match well with the F-16 fuselage in size and shape if you look from above, and the leading edges even blend well with the F-16 LERXs. But: the X-32's wings are much, much thicker than the F-16's, so that the original blended wing/fuselage intersection does not match at all. Additionally, the X-32's bulged landing gear wells in the wings had to go, so these had to be filled as an initial step. The wing roots were roughly cut into the F-16 kit's shape and glued onto the fuselage. After drying, the whole blended wing/fuselage intersection had to be sculpted from scratch - several layers of putty and even more wet sanding sessions were necessary. I stopped counting after turn five, a tedious job. But it eventually paid out…
Additionally I decided to change the F-16's chin air intake and implant parts from the X-32 divertless supersonic "sugar scoop" intake. Such an arrangement has actually been tested on an F-16, so it's not too far-fetched, and its stealthy properties make a welcome update. The respective section from the X-32's lower front fuselage was cut away and had to be modified, too, because it would originally not fit at all under the F-16's front. The intake was carefully heated at the edges and the side walls bent inwards - I was lucky that no melting damage occurred! Inside of the new intake, the upper, bulged part was implanted, too, so that in real life the jet engine parts would be protected from direct frontal radar detection. The front wheel position was retained. As a consequence of the new, much more voluminous and square air intake, the rather round section from the main landing gear onwards had to be sculpted for a decent new fuselage shape, too. But compared to the massive wing/fuselage body work, this was only a minor task.
The F-16A's fuselage was not extended, but for a different look I decided to eliminate the single fin and rather implant the X-32's outward-canted twin fins - the original extensions that hold the F-16's air brakes and now blend into the new wings' trailing edge were a perfect place, and as a side benefit they'd partly cover the jet nozzle. The latter was replaced by a respective spare part from an Italeri F-16 – the Intech nozzle is just a plain, conical tube!
The landing gear was mostly taken over from the Intech F-16, even though it is rather rough, as well as the pylons. The ordnance was puzzled together: the Sidewinders and the cropped drop tanks come from the Intech kit (the latter have a horribly oval diameter shape and the triangulare fins are a massive 1mm thick!), the Paveway bombs come from a Hasegawa air-to-ground weapons set.

Over dinner I had the very good fortune to speak with the three charming and dedicated priests working there. They were led by Father Marc whose tales of village life bore a resemblance to Don Camillo. We talked over how African theology differs from Liberation theology, the rise of the evangelist churches in Congo, squabbles with the local authorities and the challenges of keeping a football pitch green.

At the ‘Mainstreaming gender in Myanmar aquaculture and fisheries sector’ workshop held on International Women’s Day on 8 March. The event was hosted by WorldFish together with the Livelihoods and Food Security Trust Fund (LIFT), the Department of Fisheries (DoF) and the Gender Equality Network (GEN).
The CredibilityLab at Mishal Pakistan launched the Media Credibility Index (MCI), an initiative started in January 2013 in collaboration with Pakistan Coalition for Ethical Journalism, leading research and academic institutions, and media practitioners. The launch ceremony was held in Islamabad where prominent media professionals, representatives of regulatory bodies, media development organizations and members of the civil society participated. The Index focuses on the relative credibility and believability of various media channels through which content is created.
Addressing the participants, Founder and Director, Ethical Journalism Network, Aidan White said that launch of the Media Credibility Index is a landmark moment for media accountability in Pakistan. In a country where people are overwhelmed by a torrent of information on all sides, and where corruption lurks in all areas of public life, the greatest challenge facing journalists and media professionals is to produce information that is reliable, useful and above all truthful.
The MCI provides fundamentals for analyzing media discourse in the country. By using benchmarks provided by professionals at national and international level, the MCI provides an opportunity to examine how the news analysis and commentary of high profile news anchors contribute to better understanding of complex issues in Pakistan’s robust landscape of journalism and politics, he further added.
Speaking at on the occasion, Dr. Nazir Saeed, Federal Secretary for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage said, “Television has an overwhelming impact on peoples’ decision-making power. The significance of the Media Credibility Index is in its use and ability to highlight content that can empower both the newsmakers and the information seekers; enabling them to create an effective knowledge ecosystem in the country. MCI has the potential of becoming the source for an informed decision making tool in public policy debate. MCI will promote ethical content practices in the country, information that tells stories not just about the powerful, but also about the powerless, and not just about the life of the decision makers, but also about issues concerning the masses”.
“I feel proud of the fact that the Media Credibility Index has been launched in Pakistan and can be a benchmark for other countries in the world for promoting, balanced, ethical and fair journalism practices”, said Dr. Nazir Saeed.
Center for International Media Ethics (CIME) Ambassador for Pakistan, Puruesh Chaudhary said that the index has been developed after an extensive examination of media laws, ethical principals drafted by different media groups, compliance regulations formulated by regulatory bodies and journalistic organizations. The MCI will explore the state of media in Pakistan against six indicators and 20 sub-indices. The results are currently being published on a weekly basis on the Media Credibility Index website as well.
Senior journalist and founder, Pakistan Coalition for Ethical Journalism, Muhammad Ziauddin said that Mishal has incorporated more than thirty code of conducts, principles of ethical journalism, which include currently prevalent seven national code of conducts and twenty four international code of ethics from international regulatory bodies, which have been agreed upon across the globe. He further said, that the codes of ethics framed by the Pakistani media groups have also being included within the index, these entail Jang group’s Geo Asool, Dunya’s code of ethics, Express group’s journalism code of conduct and Dawn Group’s principles and code of conduct.
After reviewing the principles of journalism and codes of ethics for journalists; six media credibility indicators with 20 sub-indices have been developed in order to assess the media discourse and credibility of current affairs anchors in Pakistan. This extensive study entails thirty-five current affairs programming of the mainstream Pakistani news channels. The Credibility of the anchors and content discourse is being assessed on; Professional Competence, Ethics, Accuracy, Balance, Timeliness and Fairness.
Chief Executive Officer, Mishal Pakistan, Amir Jahangir said the CredibilityLab, through its activities will further strengthen the Triple Helix concept, which relies on three main ideas: (1) a more prominent role for the University in creating new though and research processes, bringing them on par with the Industry and Government that form the basis of a Knowledge Society; (2) a movement toward collaborative relationships among the three major institutional spheres, in which information and knowledge policy is increasingly an outcome of interaction rather than a prescription from the Government; (3) in addition to fulfilling their traditional functions, each institutional sphere also “takes the role of the ‘other’ performing new roles as well as their traditional function.
The CredibilityLab at Mishal will be publishing its research on the state of media and competitiveness in Pakistan in collaboration with its partners. The MCI research has been one of the few initiatives in Pakistan, where research work has been collaborated with eleven academic partners in the country, including University of the Punjab, International Islamic University, Fatima Jinnah Women University, Lahore College for Women University, University of Gujrat, Government College University Faisalabad, Islamia University Bhawalpur, University of Balouchistan, Greenwich University and Bharia University.
Mishal Pakistan is the partner institute of the Global Competitiveness and Benchmarking Networks, World Economic Forum. Mishal assists the forum in creating the soft-data on Pakistan, identifying Pakistan’s competitiveness challenges. Mishal has also launched Pakistan’s first journalism awards “AGAHI Awards” on the framework designed jointly with the Center for International Media Ethics and UNESCO’s Media Development Indicators.
As a partner institute Mishal has been working closely with the World Economic Forum on measuring Pakistan’s performance on multiple international indices and reports i.e. Global Competitiveness Index, Global Gender Gap Index, Global Enabling Trade Index, Global Information Technology Report – Network Readiness Index, Financial Development Index and the Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Index.

La Chaise-Dieu was founded in 1043 by Robert de Turlande. It was named "Casa Dei", from which La Chaise-Dieu developed. From the 11th to the 13th century, the abbey experienced rapid and significant development. When the founder died in 1067, already 300 monks lived here. In the Auvergne La Chaise-Dieu gained importance similar to that of the Burgundian Cluny Abbey. The abbey received many donations from noble families and administered 42 daughter monasteries. Popes who visited the abbey include Urban II, Calixt II, Alexander III. and Innocent II. In 1342, Pierre Roger, who had lived as a monk in La Chaise-Dieu, became Pope in Avignon under the name Clement VI. He financed a new building of the abbey church, in which he was finally buried. The building was completed in 1378 under the pontificate of Gregory XI, a nephew of Clement VI.
Since 1516 La Chaise-Dieu, like most other French abbeys, became "in commendam" so the commendatory abbot drew the revenue of the monastery but without fulfilling the duties of the abbot or even residing at the monastery.
Calvinist troops looted the abbey in August 1562. After most of the monastery buildings were destroyed by fire in 1695, they were rebuilt by the monks in the decades that followed. In 1786, Cardinal de Rohan, who was involved in the "Affair of the Diamond Necklace" was exiled to La Chaise-Dieu. While the abbey had 40 monks at that time, religious life ended at the beginning of the French Revolution.
La Chaise-Dieu is known for the tapestries, once woven to embellish the monks´ choir.
They were commissioned by Jacques de Saint-Nectaire and were woven by a Flemish workshop between 1501 and 1518.
The collection includes 14 tapestries of which two are different and may have been ordered by the abbot for his personal use.
The 12 other tapestries constitute a complete continuation of the Annunciation to the Last Judgment. An inventory prior to the Revolution mentions 18 tapestries, so four tapestries have therefore disappeared.
The tapestries were only exhibited during major liturgical feasts. They were rolled up and kept during the troubles during the Wars of Religion and the Revolution.
In 2013 the tapestries were removed. They got restored and returned to the abbey in July 2019. I was lucky to see them in August 2019.
