Russell "Rusty" Lyon Jr., Chairman of Westcor Inc. was a principal developer of the Boulders Resort which was valued at $200 million when it opened in 1984. Boulders gets its name, logo and theme from the gigantic granite rocks deposited on this desert land millions of years ago. Westcor also operated the Hotel Westcourt at Metrocenter and Westcourt in the Buttes resort in Tempe. Westcor also developed the Arrowhead Towne Center at Bell and 83rd. Rusty Lyon was the visionary for Scottsdale Fashion Square, Chandler Fashion Square, Biltmore Fashion Park. Rusty Lyon, passed away in 2016.
Bennie Gonzales was the original architect of the Boulders. Gonzales was known for his adobe-style architecture. He also designed the Scottsdale Civic Plaza and the Scottsdale Conference Center. Scottsdale based Allen + Philip Architects completed the design work. The adobe look was achieved with synthetic stucco over masonry and viga and latilla framing. Guy Bussell was the project manager.
Laurence Rockefeller's Rockresorts was the management company chosen to operate the Boulders. A Rockresort company goal is to go to the frontiers of natural beauty and create resorts that lend themselves to the environment. Laurence Rockefeller wanted nature be the star. Rockresorts managed the Boulders from 1984 to 1988. In 1988 Westcor actually placed an unsuccessful bid to buy all of Rockresorts properties.
Walter Blum, who was chef for many years at the Arizona Biltmore, Grand Teton Lodge Company and the Muana Kea Beach Hotel, was the Rockresort's Executive Director of Food at the opening of the Boulders. He designed the menus and hired the opening chefs, who were Duncan Slater and Robert Walton. A Blum quote "It takes longer to become an executive chef than a physician." Some entre's from 1984 included pheasant with plum sauce, chateaubriand, snails with chopped mushrooms and duck breast with papaya sauce. The Boulder's restaurants were The Latilla, The Palo Verde and The Club. The Latilla was permanently shuttered in 2015 and its space converted to a meeting room.
Richard E. Holtzman, president of Rockresorts, appointed his son Richard A. Holtzman Jr. to the General Manager position.
In 1988 The Boulders had a 78% occupancy rate at its 120 casitas during the 9 1/2 months it is open each year.
A Boulders Resort advertisement stated "and on the seventh day, God built a golf course." There are two 18-hole golf courses designed by Jay Morrish built in to the natural rock outcroppings. In 1983 Morrish began putting the North and South Courses together - nine holes at a time. First came the Boulders Nine, followed by the Saguaro Nine. Eventually the Lake Nine was added, and that’s the way things were - 27 holes - until Morrish came back in 1992 to add nine more holes.
By 1994 Rusty Lyon and his partners had formed Carefree Resorts. Partners in Carefree Resorts were Richard Holtzman Jr., William Nassikas, Michael Surguine, David Beckham, Scott Lyon and Del Goehring. Resorts acquired were The Peaks at Telluride in Colorado; Carmel Valley Ranch Resort in California; and The Lodge at Ventana Canyon in Tucson, Arizona.
In 1996 Patriot American Hospitality Inc. bought Carefree Resorts for $210 million. Included in the sale were The Boulders, The Peaks at Telluride in Colorado; Carmel Valley Ranch Resort in California; and The Lodge at Ventana Canyon in Tucson, Arizona.
In January 1998 The Boulders was established as the flagship of the Wyndham International - luxury properties.
Blackstone Real estate Advisors bought the Boulders in 2005 and became a member of the LXR Luxury Resorts Collection. Michael Hoffmann was appointed Managing Director. He served from 2005 to 2013. A graduate of Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne and native of Switzerland, Hoffmann came from Claridge's in London. In 2006 Blackstone gutted and redesigned the interiors of all the guest rooms.
On April 23, 2015 Columbia Sussex acquired The Boulders for a reported $83.3 million and switched the resort's Hilton brand from the Waldorf Astoria to the Curio Collection. General Manager is Howard Harris (former gm at Hilton Lake Las Vegas Resort & Spa). The resort renovated all 160 of its Casitas by the end of 2015. The bedrooms’ wood-burning fireplaces received an adobe update and each room included a wood-inlay headboard in a traditional Hohokam design. The majority owner of Columbia-Sussex, Bill Yung, is well known in the hotel industry for his scorched-earth tactics.

Mobile deep linking (also known as ios developer application deep linking), is the procedure of utilizing a URI to connect to specific pages or locations inside a mobile application. You can use it in a number of ways - via notifications, email, SMS, social networking, etc. - and directs users to relevant content, instead of your app’s desltop.
There's a couple of kinds of mobile deep linking:
Standard deep linking - Directs users to some specific a part of your application making use of your application URI. The disadvantage using these is they is only going to work when the user has got the application placed on their device. Otherwise, they'll show the consumer a mistake page.
Deferred deep linking - Deferred deep links will direct users towards the specific content when the application is installed, and direct users towards the ios developer store listing when the application isn't installed.
Contextual deep linking - These may serve the functions of the aforementioned two kinds of deep linking, but additionally permit more precise tracking and relevancy to users. It's more helpful for developers and users, because these links pass data for an application through install and permit not only better attribution but additionally personalized onboarding.
Why Mobile Deep Linking Matters

Will Lindemann of TechCrunch notes that initially, adoption of deep linking was slow since the benefits were unclear standard deep linking only labored if your user had the application installed, therefore it wasn’t high priority on product roadmaps. With deferred and much more lately contextual deep linking, this attitude has altered. Companies now realize the need for mobile deep linking for consumer experience, driving engagement, increasing the user onboarding process, promoting their apps and tracking marketing campaigns.Mobile Application Deep Linking Improves The Consumer Experience
Users can easier access content via deep links, with basically no navigation. Additionally ios developer actually help direct users to a particular screens for your application rather of the house screen thus, if you're linking to something inside your application from social networking, a mobile website, etc., users can navigate seamlessly to that particular content.

These advantages let us deliver better products more rapidly with foreseeable velocity and less risks.
Sprints
Our initial step with each and every project is creating product definition, which sets the framework for efficient product. Next, we move directly into sprint planning:
Sprint Planning
Before the sprint beginning, each squad conducts a sprint planning session which explains the goals for every sprint, the division from the php developer, along with the features required to complete the sprint. The squad looks at the product backlog and organizes story points which happen to be prioritized during product discovery. The Merchandise Owner looks at the roadmap, determines the hrs needed for every task, and convenience of features to incorporate in the following sprint. We make use of a strategy generally referred to as moving wave planning, which allows us to plan the sprint while using understanding and insight we’ve acquired from previous sprints.
Separating the specifications into incremented epics and tales helps our php developer manage their project with increased control along with a focused goal. Each story point represents a specific product feature(s) which we map on the project roadmap to steer our developers. Each story is believed through the team, permitting transparency using the time-frame for implementation and simply enabling us to trace our progress. With respect to the complexity from the feature, it may be labelled as you story point, or several.
Development
After sprint planning, the squad moves in to the execution from the project. Our team of developers includes a double edged sword: mobile (Android and iOS) who develop native apps and mix-platform frameworks for example Xamarin and Appcelerator. The 2nd are full-stack developers who handle the applying logic: back-finish development for example database development, php developer services, and API, in addition to front-finish UI.
Daily Scrums
At Clearbridge, our squads conduct daily scrums where each team member provides updates of the progress, what must be done next, and methods to challenges that arise.
Splitting off the Xbox could allow Microsoft to focus on core products like Office and Windows. Over the past 10 years, Microsoft shares have underperformed the broader market -- the game developer mammoth size many have kept management unfocused and limited Microsoft's upside.
Vulcan Capital, Paul Allen's investment firm, has argued for an Xbox spinoff. Allen no longer has any management role at Microsoft, but as a co-founder, his word might have some weight. Likewise, some Wall Street analysts, including those at Nomura, have written about the potential benefits to an Xbox spinoff.
The article goes on to explain why this would be a horrendous calamity for Xbox, and why major consoles need a huge consumer electronics giant behind them. Nintendo, he says, has been held back by its need to make profit from hardware, unlike Sony and Microsoft, which have sold consoles at a loss. But then, Nintendo has usually done pretty nicely without carrying millions in corporate debt, so...
Everything you need to know about World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor | game developer Spot
This is a handy guide to all the new info about the latest (but apparently not final WoW expansion). We covered the announcement on Friday, but this article adds snippets garnered through the rest of Blizzcon. Here's some more on the new garrison addition:
The Garrison is your own personal fortress where you can customize the layout, appearance, and gameplay effects. Same-faction friends in your party can visit your base to check it out and trade resources, and it's a non-instanced area, so you'll be able to see it in the distance as you fly around Draenor.
The biggest addition to the Garrison are followers: You'll be able to collect followers, and "You can also allocate them to complete tasks -- things like crafting or gathering resources, which they'll do whether you're online or offline. "The resources you'll acquire during missions include both existing crafting reagents and Garrison-specific materials. For example, if you assign a follower to a mining mission, game developer could receive ore, but you might also unearth stone, a new kind of resource used to construct and upgrade buildings."

From the Wikipedia article:
"Seaside is an unincorporated master-planned community on the Florida panhandle in Walton County, roughly midway between Fort Walton Beach and Panama City. It was founded by builder/developer Robert Davis in 1979 on land that he had inherited from his grandfather. The town plan was designed by architects/new urbanists Andrés Duany and Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk.
Seaside is often cited as an example of successful implementation of New Urbanism. Time magazine called it "the most astounding design achievement of its era and, one might hope, the most influential"[1] It has been used as a model for other new urbanist developments in the United States and abroad. However, some have criticized Seaside as being overly rigid, as the community's architectural standards provide strict limitations on the external aesthetics of the houses, resulting in conformity of style rather than creativity – which some people call a manufactured fantasy. Others have criticized the community for its lack of socioeconomic diversity, which they see as ironic given that the community was itself modeled on the diverse and urban neighborhoods of large North American cities such as New York City and San Francisco.
Many scenes of the 1998 film The Truman Show were shot at Seaside. The movie's director Peter Weir was planning on building a movie set town for the movie when his wife, Wendy, happened to see Seaside featured in an architect's magazine and thought it would be perfect for the film. The former superintendent of Okaloosa Schools, and now a member of the Florida Senate, state Senator Don Gaetz, was one of the original property owners of Seaside, and his personal cottage was utilized as the Burbanks' house in the film."

If there's scope creep or project scope increases but timeline is rigid, budget must end up being the flexible boundary. When more sources are needed to provide and much more features and functionalities are required for that product, budget changes.
Identifying Your Flexible Boundary
A03A0908
While you will find variations in the manner agile application developer is practiced, a foundational aspect is the opportunity to change and react to changes without losing velocity. To do this, versatility is really a necessity.
In a perfect world, you would not have to be flexible promptly, scope, or budget. But neglecting to take into account because you may need to bend as products evolve or new needs arise is extremely dangerous if something does change, there's no contingency plan that enables you to definitely generate a market-ready product.
Enter versatility. You've identified which from the project limitations is flexible, which enables you to definitely adapt without losing velocity. Think about the following scenario:
You've identified that scope is the flexible boundary. You realize featuring and functionalities are crucial for your minimum viable product, and you will find others around the product roadmap which are highly preferred and nice to possess. You prioritize tasks accordingly while using MoSCoW technique (Should have, Must have, Might have, Won’t Have), aiming for the quantity of features/functionalities. But, you've taken into account the truth that should there be issues, application developer are able to reduce but still be capable to deliver your minimum viable product inside the other two limitations. Consequently, if there's a snag, you can now focus sources around the critical facets of the work and save lower priorities for future releases.
“Failing to take into account because application developer may need to bend as products evolve or new needs arise is extremely risky”Within this scenario, if scope wasn’t recognized as an adaptable boundary, the end result will be a sub-componen product with partly completed or incorrectly tested features, delivered inside a hurry and sure defective. Attempting to deliver everything would basically provide the user nothing - except an undesirable consumer experience.
Many websites are now developed using open source software, for example WordPress. This allows independent developers to create additional functionality such as website templates and plugins. Most of these are free to use but may have premium modules attached for extra functionality. Both...

I was there hoping to find a motivated and talented programmer with experience in Facebook apps. After my talk lots of people came up to talk to me, but all of them were marketing people trying to get on the Facebook bandwagon. I generally find marketing people uncreative and uninteresting.
In talking to a few other friends who were there we concluded there were hardly any actual content creators at the event. I was bummed, since the content of the event was targeting the Builder types.
I did meet some really interesting people from Terralever www.terralever.com.
FREE FOTOLAB
2004 –ongoing, itinerant photo lab and photographic archive
Photography has ever proved a fertile ground for interesting conundrums of art and commerce, culture and law. Just over one hundred years ago a doting father arranged to have a portrait photograph taken of his infant daughter, a decision which would subsequently embroil him in the now little known litigation of Holmes v. Langfier and Newnes (1903). In short, Langfier (the photographer) had passed the image of the child onto George Newnes, then proprietor of the weekly periodical Woman’s Life. Newnes reproduced it on the cover of his magazine, as a result of which Holmes sued for both breach of copyright and breach of contract. Langier and Newnes countered that they had the permission of the Holmes’ wife to reproduce the image. Regardless of the court’s actual decision (Holmes was successful), the case triggers various lines of enquiry – questions of authorship and ownership, of lawful and unlawful use and appropriation, of the private and the public, and of trust, autonomy and respect. These questions, and more, are the same ones with which Phil Collins’ free fotolab wrestles.
Art or exploitation? Unabashed voyeurism or the conceit of an arch–raconteur?
How best to understand the Faustian pact which lies at the heart of free fotolab? The basic premise of the project is as follows: you hand over a roll of 35mm film for developing, the film is developed and a set of 4” x 6” prints produced for free but only on condition that you agree to let the developer (Collins) use any of the images in any way he sees fit, whether by exhibition, publication, sale, alteration, and so on. In exchange for developing the film you cede all claims as to authorship, ownership, exploitation and control of the images captured thereon. As such, these photographs are not the covertly taken images of otherwise unknown individuals by photographers like Walker Evans (Many are Called), Sophie Calle (Double Game) or Luc Delahaye (L’Autre); neither are they truly found photographs such as those re–presented by Thomas Dworzak (Taliban) or in Robert Flynn Johnson and William Boyd’s recent Anonymous. Rather these images are negotiated. As such, at the same time as introducing the domestic and the unseen into the gallery, they bring into the home the weight of the legal edifice which bears upon the production and potentiality of any photograph.
These are images taken by and for ordinary people but then, after the fact, willingly released into the hands of another. Those who participate are confronted with the concept of their photographs as perhaps something other than the ordinary, as a potential commodity, as public information, or an unanticipated invasion of their private domain. These are no longer simple snapshots but the potential focus for a maelstrom of legal rights, obligations, relationships and tensions. In this regard free fotolab also provides an opportunity for considering the fissures between the theoretical and doctrinal assumptions which the legal regime perpetuates as to these questions, and the reality of everyday perceptions of and attitudes to the same.
