Sorry for posting another cattle egret, but there wasn't much else to shoot at WW this morning. I thought it was nifty how the wings are still developing on this juvenile.

Valley Gardens was developed as an attractive walk for visitors to the Spa town, part of their health regime between taking the waters, and as a means of access to the mineral springs of Bogs Field. The waterside walk with flowers and trees became a place for promenading, socialising and taking exercise. Photographs of the gardens in the early 20th century testify to their enormous popularity with crowds around the tea room, boating lake and bandstand. The Sun Pavilion and Colonnades were built as an added attraction and facility for the spa, intended as the first phase of a covered way linking the Pump Room and Royal Bath Hospital. Visitors to the mineral springs declined but the horticultural reputation of the Gardens grew with the staging of the Northern Horticultural Society’s Spring Flower Show in the Gardens and the addition of special garden areas.
Looking west late afternoon, with dew points in the mid-60's, it was only a matter of time when instability would erupt.

Highland cattle or kyloe are an ancient Scottish breed of beef cattle with long horns and long wavy coats which are coloured black, brindled, red, yellow or dun.[
The breed developed in the Scottish Highlands and Western Isles of Scotland. Breeding stock has been exported to the rest of the world, especially Australia and North America, since the early 20th Century. The breed was developed from two sets of stock, one originally black, and the other reddish.
Highlands are known as a hardy breed due to the rugged nature of their native Scottish Highlands, with high rainfall and strong winds. They both graze and browse and eat plants many other cattle avoid. The meat tends to be leaner than most beef, as Highlands get most of their insulation from their thick shaggy hair rather than subcutaneous fat. The coat also makes them a good breed for cold Northern climates.
The Highland cattle registry ("herd book") was established in 1885. Although groups of cattle are generally called herds, a group of Highlands is known as a fold. They were also known as kyloes in Scots.
Highland cattle have been successfully established in many temperate countries. Their hair provides protection during the cold winters and their skill in browsing for food enables them to survive in steep mountain areas.
Testing Kodak Tri-X 400 film in Moersch Finol developer.
Love the way Tri-X 400 flares!
Shot with an Olympus 35 SP 35mm film camera.
Exposed EI 240.
Developed in Moersch Finol 1+75, 5.30 minutes at 28°C, first minute constant agitation then 2 inversions every 20 seconds.
Fixed in Moersch ATS alcaline fixer to preserve the stain, 6.30 minutes, first minute constant agitation then 10 seconds inversions at beginning of each minute
Washed in flowing tap water for 8 minutes.
Scanned to true optical 2900dpi with a custom macro setup, then resized.
No sharpening or noise reduction applied.
Original file available.
High developer temperature takes a toll on grain size here, but decent performance nevertheless.
Decent performance in Finol, but for Tri-X at EI 240 I definitely prefer CG 512 / Rollei RLS.

I'm going to post a series of 5 shots over the next 5 days taken near dusk from the same spot at Oldshoremore showing the development of an amazing light show we saw during an emerging heavy shower. Hope i managed to remove all the raindrops that got on the lens. Here is the first with Ben Stack in the background and Handa Island clearly visible beyond the headland. You can just see the beginnings of a double rainbow of sorts.

Enjoy. Why not? Of course you will. I know, you know it.
Developed as a long-range exploration vessel sized between its more famous stablemates the LL928 and LL924, the LL926 Cosmos Explorer ended up having less in the way of cargo space in the rear compartment, only able to fit the smallest design of rover available to the Lagrange-Lunacorp designers. Most of the extra space was taken up with fuel storage and crew supplies, giving the Cosmos Explorer the longest unsupplied range of the three vessels.
The lack of cargo capacity made the Cosmos Explorer less versatile than either of the other early LL-type explorer ships, however, and many planetary fleets of the inner system bought only a few of the craft. In the far reaches of the Uranian and Neptunian leagues and the Kuiper Belt Alliance, however, these ultra-long-range craft really came into their own.
~~~
So I was planning to build a sleekened, updated version of the old LL924 Space Transporter, but I think this ended up a bit bigger than that venerable beauty. Not quite up to the LL928, but that might actually be within reach now. Amazing thought.
Here's a shot of a developing wall cloud/tornado on May 29th, 2018. Despite it being a little blurry because our car was being slammed by 60+ mph RFD winds, I like this picture for two reasons: 1) The developing wall cloud was rotating so quickly. It was heavily rain wrapped for most of the development, but appeared for about 2 minutes before being obscured again, and 2) You can see the prominent inflow jet racing along the ground. A great day.
