a thrift store find. I would guess early 70s? I dig the graphic design, the slogan is unfortunate though. I'm pretty sure any coffee I might brew with them will smell/taste like thrift store.

Cognitive dissidence The sideyard house is elegantly designed for a narrow lot that has a large attached garage that ruins the whole effect. Note the "porch" on the garage. How do you get up there? I see no doorway.

It is often tricky for individuals beginning with interior office design to understand where to get started. Good interior office layout or design mainly arises from a sense, flair or instinct for colour, pattern, and scale. To get you going with achieving these aims, here are a couple of practical hints:
Before decorating, start a scrapbook.
Collect samples of colours as well as photographs of rooms that you enjoy. Analyze your scrapbook to determine styles and colors that are your own preferences. Even should you not plan decorating the whole home straight away, it's good practice to draw up a shade program, record all of the colors you intend to use. This forces you to devise a scheme that works on the whole, rather than a piecemeal, room-by-room solution.
Plan your distance
Regardless of the size of a room, space has to be arranged carefully to supply different areas for various applications, but at the same time stay a harmonious whole. Planning is essential, and in a feeling, you're obliged to complete the area first before you can begin it, a catch-twenty-two situation. This doesn't mean you have to buy everything at once, however you ought to have a very clear picture of the result.
Draw a floor plan
This will allow you to visualize the design and arrange your space as stated in the previous point. This will prevent you from making errors regarding available space until you make purchases. You can also to use the floor plan to test out different combinations of types of bits. This way you can move your pieces of furniture around on the plan in various configurations and can picture the design that much simpler. Obviously, this really is a low-tech option, there are much more high-tech options available for your PC, but this approach can be amazingly effective.
Start considering the details.
All these are always the elements that get the least attention because the details aren't as exciting to decide upon such as, as an example, the color scheme. However, the particulars are essential and will make or break a scheme. They create a hidden life establishing connections between different objects regulating the impact of competing centres of attention, introducing a sense of rhythm and strengthening the point. Again, start collecting samples and photos of trimmings, door handles, light fixtures etc.
Perhaps not the greatest ability with colour or the most careful choice of accessories and trimmings may prevent the effect from appearing flat and lifeless.
Surprisingly perhaps, a sense of humor is a vital element in a good design. Humour, flair, and surprise these are all methods for describing the happy accident, the strange blend of objects or the unique touch that makes a space a living inside rather than a studio collection.

This is the still image which I designed for the You Tube Channel proposed by Irvine Action to serve two functions: firstly to act as a community noticeboard for the people of Irvine in Scotland; and secondly, to promote the town across the World. The image is based on the town's beautiful Trinity Church and one of its three rivers - the River Irvine. Another month, another design. I'm calling this one Techno Tuesday.
This design was inspired by "A Sea of Red", a photo taken by the extremely talented Cindy and posted to Flickr. When I saw the photo last week I immediately wanted to use it as the basis of a design and went to work. Thankfully, Cindy gave me permission to use it and it has been abstracted into the background of this new design.

While I'm not a fan of Star Wars, I have a lot of time for people like John Mollo, and the craftsmanship and imagination of the hard working artists and designers who served the west London studios. Andrew Ainsworth was part of that scene, an industrial designer who'd got into vacuum-formed plastics in the early days, producing custom car bodies using the process.
George Lucas, shooting Star Wars at Elstree studios, was looking for a way of making the armour in his new film look suitably futuristic. Ainsworth used vac-formed ABS to produce a prototype, and got the gig.
I walk past his shop most days when I'm at home.
