This is an IQ Light stencil made with tabs that should spiral smoothly down to a point. This is based on the stencil by Lennart Poettering, but modified to give spiral joints. To do this I shaped the tabs according to this picture, which is what I got from "whirling" five radial lines in The Gimp.
Note: If you want the panels to bend less, shrink this image vertically a little bit.

At one point, I decided to make a guitar in my moldmaking class as a final project. We were to fabricate an object out of high-density urethane foam, make a mold of it and cast it. Might as well utilize the 1-2 inch thick foam boards which are just about the thickness of a guitar.
I somewhat drew inspiration from my first project, the headcrab with its four legs, and certain spiders to come up with something completely unergonomical. I used my old Yamaha RGS 121 as a base model and I'm building around that so I don't really have control over the headstock and fretboard design. I haven't yet decided on a paint job.

This was one of those designs where I had the basic concept nailed in ten minutes, and then spent ages refining it. I'm still not entirely satisfied, but happy enough to leave it here. That said, I may revisit this in another daily design and produce a magazine cover or something.
