This impressive, high-boxed structure was designed by Charles Holden & C H James. Constructed of brick and with a concrete roof, it is vast in height and with the windows on either side provides grandeur helped by the amount of space & light drawn into the building.
In the centre of the concourse is the original passimeter (now no longer used) and on the sides of which the space is occupied by an electronic display showing next train information.
At the back is a newsagent kiosk and has remained in situ from the original building opening. There is a smaller kiosk in front of the shop which is not open. A clock is on the wall and is unusual in that it has a blue clock face.

Okay, so I'm a preservation librarian and think about these things a bit differently than the intended audience, I assume.
The case of this book is covered with stickers of various sizes; easily peeled to uncover the thin waxy page beneath. I think it's brilliant, aesthetically.
However, I also wonder if the creators put much thought into the ephemeral nature of this binding. It simply cannot last if used.
My guess is that they did think of the implications but that the idea was too clever not to put in motion. This is not unusual in design publications. (That this is a 'yearbook' makes me think that it's also intended to be somewhat of an historical snapshot, though)
We'll make a box for it to postpone the inevitable. But, really? I love this stuff. Nice preservation challenge.

Ann Arbor went through this big effort to remove all the parking meters and put in kiosks. These look like a retrofit that kept the coin-op base and added a credit card scanner, simple UI and a solar panel.

ROTARY DRILLING
The idea of drilling wells with a rotary bit (instead of the chisel-like bit of cable tool drillings) is an old idea. Leonardo da Vinci designed a rotary drilling rig around 1500, and by 1865 several types of rotary drilling methods had been successfully tried.
By 1901, when the famous Texas well, Spindletop, was drilled with a rotary rig, the rotary method of drilling had been sufficiently perfected to open up the deep and productive oil fields of the American west.
Only with rotary drilling methods can very deep holes (more than a very few thousand feet) be drilled. The rotary rigs in use throughout the world today feature a rotating bit at the bottom of a string of hollow pipe. As the pipe is rotated, a circulating fluid (called “mud”) is pumped into the pipe and flows back to the surface outside the drill pipe. This mud carries the rock cuttings out of the hole, making unncessary the repeated bailing action common to cable tool drilling. As the hole is deepened, more pipe is added to the top of the drill string. This method is considerably faster than cable tool drilling, and is especially useful in the softer rock formations common to deep well drilling.

Here, Bangle & Co. revisit the E65 7 series trunk, essentially replicating the design, but in a more swoopy, coupe-aware form. The fender hip arching in the meet the vertical trunk lid is here, as is the divergent forms of the fender hip line and the rising rear trunk face, as seen in the E65 trunk design.
But here, whether by familiarity through time or just better design execution, it seems slightly more elegant and composed.
The latest car to be designed by Bangle & Co. is BMW's main breadwinner, the E90 3 series: a car so important to BMW that they can't afford to be polarizing in their design.
Somebody REALLY wanted to innovate and used this non-standard numeric keypad format in which bottom line is as phones/ITU keyboard and top 3 lines like on PC numeric keypad. This is not recommended as 60% of the time at the least I press wrong numeric code when trying to enter this carwash machine located at Shell gas station at Kaarina, Finland. Better stick 100% to existing standard layouts!
