The magical island of Bora Bora captured from the window plane prior to landing. Bora Bora is everything I thought it would be and beyond my wildest imaginations. I’ve seen pictures of it in countless magazines, news, documentaries and travel programmes but it’s not till you’re actually here that you begin to realize just how magical this place is.
I woke up at around 6:00 this morning to finish some homework that I had due, and saw this out the window...so as you can imagine the homework waited till later...:)
Having dropped considerably in elevation, the eastbound Rocky Mountaineer is now well beneath the low clouds as it exits Tunnel 1 and snakes downgrade near mile 23, just railroad east of Plain siding.

The small bay of Port d'es Canonge on the Serra de Tramuntana coast can be reached by a narrow road. It branches off from the Banyalbufar-Valldemossa mountain road to descend in narrow curves from the height through the forest to the sea.

a hike upto walla crag which looks down onto the town of keswick in the lake district. however the image i had in mind didnt get made as the light just didnt break through the cloud enough. but on route back to the car, i was blessed with some great but brief sunshine.
I had to make a trip to our Casper, Wyoming location yesterday and have had the good fortune to spend Independence Day here (7-4-2024). I had been eager to experiment with the electronic ND filter in my E-M1X and a trip up Casper Mountain to the Garden Creek waterfall finally gave me a chance to play a bit with this novel feature before returning to North Dakota tomorrow. I experimented with the various levels and each works very well.
Even though the falls are flowing very well and look quite dramatic, I actually enjoyed more playing in the creek well below the falls as the sun finally rose sufficiently high to offer some light into this sheltered chasm. Parking was at a premium but it seemed that most were off hiking the different trails that abound on the steep side of the mountain, for it was quite peaceful at both the falls and along Garden Creek far below with only the sounds of rushing water over rocks and the birds filling one's ears. I'm often torn between my love of the North Dakota badlands and playing in creeks such as this in Wyoming (or the Black Hills of South Dakota), for this reminds me that I often miss the woods and rushing water.
In Minnesota, I stopped for a break in Winona to get some views of the Mississippi River. It wasn't a fair weather day, so my shots were not the best. Never-the-less, I drove up a steep road which ascends the bluffs to reveal a spectacular view from the summit. This shot is of a dam that was visible from the summit. I found this old, disused trail descending the bluffs. I wish that I had more time to explore when I was there, but unfortunately, I never learned where it went.

The vegetation hides it well, but the unit is more or less above the Tyne Valley line at this point which dives under the ECML here. However, both the ECML and Tyne Valley lines are visible from the other side of the bridge where it's clear that they're about to deviate from each other.
I was originally going to use that^picture of my body for a completely different edit, But I got inspired by collinmcadoo and his pictures and decided to do this :) hope you like it
