I suppose it was meant to be mildly amusing. Anyway, our near family were all GM people so anything aimed at denigrating Fords or Dodges probably brought a smile. All I can remember was "If you can't afford a Ford, dodge a Dodge". What I can discover is that the prototype was printed in the “The Motor World” column in the New Zealand Truth newspaper of 22 July 1916:

“You might be advised that if you can’t afford a Ford, dodge a Dodge; but then, on the other hand, if you can’t afford a Dodge, dodge a Ford.”

My route today was carefully planned to not dodge a ford but to find one — Oallen Ford. What I have discovered along that route is that it was certainly someone else's intent to deny me that bit of fun. Now where there was a ford, witnessed by some scraps of its past, there is now a bridge; a bridge most evidently dodging a ford.

Every now and then you see a photo with the deepest blue sky you ever saw and you wonder how the photographer captured such a rich color. The photographer didn't see it. The camera didn't record it. The photo-editing software didn't produce it. Even HDR is not responsible. Huh?

No, those deepest blue skies are possible because Flickr owns and operates a system of Blue Chromatic Accumulators (BCA), commonly called "blue sponges." A BCA is a device that soaks up blue colors in the atmosphere, amplifies and stores them, and streams them to Flickr Support Services, where they are incorporated into the photos that later amaze you. Application of blue pixels is done on a random basis in a hidden "interestingness" laboratory. There is no way to request or schedule this service; Flickr is committed to treating all subscribers equally. This service is not made available to free accounts.

The use of this process is not meant to denigrate the laudable efforts of photographers worldwide, but to complement them. Flickr knows that happy subscribers are long-term subscribers, and one way to keep them happy is to "enhance" their landscape shots with extra blue coloring (if such enhancement is appropriate for the image). Enhancement has proven to improve the hit rates of images significantly and to produce comments that gush with enthusiasm.

The technology that accomplishes this is patented and the location of the pictured device is a closely-guarded secret. To say any more would be imprudent. However, there is a set of solar panels that look remarkably like this device in Utah, at the geotagged location.

11 March 1932. When the death of her companion Lytton Strachey makes her life seem purposeless, Carrington shoots herself in her bedroom with a borrowed shotgun, wearing Strachey’s dressing gown.

The revisionist tendency within the Carrington industry would now have us believe that Bloomsbury did not denigrate Carrington’s art, that her drift from serious work into decorative amateurism was her own free and valid choice, and that Strachey did his best to encourage her career.

But even her fictional appearances in her own lifetime (as Betty Bligh in Lewis’s Apes of God, or as Mary Bracegirdle in Huxley’s Crome Yellow) do not recognise her as an artist.

Virginia Woolf judged that Strachey “absorbed her, made her kill herself.” Carrington told her, “There is nothing left for me to do. I did everything for Lytton. But I’ve failed in everything else.” Her art might have saved her, had she not been so pigmyfied by years of servitude as Strachey’s housekeeper and pet.

These signs started going up all over town and at first I wondered, I mean we have a war going on, Bush is still running rampant, don't we have better things to protest? And the poor Valley Quail. He's a nice little native bird. Who would want a parrot for California State Bird, unless they were fans of the flocks of wild parrots that live on Telegraph Hill?

Turns out, after investigating the website, that "Parrot" is some sort of hands-free phone device and this is a slimy way to sell a cheap bit of foreign-made plastic. By slamming the State Bird. DASTARDLY!

Besides, if we are switching birds, we need to go for the Turkey like Ben Franklin wanted. He pointed out that it was a brave bird that wouldn't hesitate to attack a British Redcoat. Besides, we've got plenty of native turkeys and they aren't all in Sacramento.

Meanwhile, these fiends have got to be stopped. Boycott the Parrot. Do it for our noble Quail.

Prof Kasturi says Sai seeks out people, who are straying away. Even when one does not adore Him and denigrate Him, He attends to them as well! He says : "You are interested in me to find out my faults"

Alright, come on, He will say! He is interested more in such people than perhaps those who adore Him. He draws and saves the lost children.

A cowherd boy, Gopala, when he plays His flute, the cows absorbed in the music quietly follow wherever it leads them. But the mischievous, impertinent, aggressive and selfish cows are indifferent to the music. They stray away to places where the grass is greener. But, the cowherd follows and lead them to the shed by nightfall.

So Swami is more interested in the aggressive, the mischievous, the wicked, the stupid, the blind and distorted. When such people say "Where is God? ...There is no God!", turning a deaf ear to His call, Swami goes to them.

The various ways Swami employs to draw people towards Him is interesting. It is indeed very interesting to narrate as well as listen to the experiences of devotees in coming under the Sai fold and even after that as well. He draws people from different parts of the world, who have not even known Him or even seen His picture in a mysterious way. This proves His omnipresence.

Manzanar Japanese Internment Camp – a national disgrace.

In what could be called the final phase of what journalist and historian Carey McWilliams described in 1944 as the California-Japanese War of 1900-1941, one hundred and twenty thousand Americans of Japanese descent, both citizens born here and people of foreign birth who were denied citizenship due to their ancestry, were given only days to leave their homes, their farms, and their businesses, and choose the precious few processions that they could carry with them before being rounded up on to buses and ultimately sent to ten prison camps like this one. No one was spared, including the old and infirm (Manzanar had a hospital and a cemetery), and babies and children (Manzanar had a nursery, a school, and an orphanage). American citizens were born, lived, and died behind barbed wire, for no reason but hatred by others.

As chronicled by California State Librarian Emeritus Kevin Starr in his book Embattled Dreams (the sixth of a monumental nine-volume history of California), “for nearly forty years, white California had been harassing Japanese immigrants and denigrated their culture”. With decades of anti-Japanese discrimination in California ranging from segregation in public schools, to racist laws and restrictive covenants preventing homeownership, to sidewalk beatings, to the federal Immigration Act of 1924 that banned all Japanese from immigration to the United States forever, it perhaps was no surprise that FDR would sign Executive Order 9066, setting into motion the forced internment of Japanese Americans in this and the nine other prison camps.

When I was growing up and going to school, this forced internment was given little notice in our history books, and when it was, it was usually in a dismissive tone explaining the action as an “unfortunate necessity”. Thankfully, the history books are at least a little bit more accurate today, and Manzanar has been saved to preserve the memory of our tragedy.

"In Buddhism, there is much emphasis on meditating on the truth of suffering. This can be a bit depressing, but when we see our faults also clearly see the opportunity to get rid of them. To see our defects has much to do with our ability to awaken. From the Buddhist point of view, no error is impossible to be changed. There is always a possibility of change. The recognition of our human intelligence can help us have more security when faced with difficult situations. This is very important. " So says Dalai Lama in his book Worlds in Harmony - Dialogues on the practice of compassion .

In this statement, the Dalai Lama has grown a little ability in our Western culture: the ability of taking up the challenges of life and our inner world. In general, we are encouraged to distract us from the face of pain. As we face the pain could lead us to an even worse state than that in which we are already.

If you face the pain mean increasing a destructive attitude towards our self-image, in fact, we risk causing us very badly. That is, if we do charge idealized attitudes, what we could or should have done, we are just reinforcing the attitude of the conflict to avoid looking ahead. The more we demand of ourselves, the more we move away from the point where we really are.

However, we must clarify that this look honest, sincere and straightforward about our situation is not an attitude of condemnation! As if admitting a weakness would give himself the verdict defeatist: "I am anyway ...".

Just the opposite! Like the Dalai Lama said: "There is always a possibility of change."

But how to move toward change unless we learn to look beyond the suffering?

To acquire self-knowledge, we must develop some internal attitudes that we have not been taught, like courage and honesty to feel what we think about ourselves without any resistance, that is, without denigrating us.

There we met only in self-diagnose but to treat us!

In this sense, Buddhism encourages us to feel the pain in order to cure it. That does not mean not receive an appropriate medication to his psychophysical state. A good medication will not relieve the pain, but biochemical balance our condition to optimize the ability to work through it. In this sense, anxiolytics, antidepressants and mood stabilizers may be helpful.

"First, we have to make a small problem that we see as great, from there it can be dispelled," warns Gangchen Lama Rinpoche.

To the extent that we learn to accept our pain, we stop being afraid of being destroyed by it. The pain is felt can dissolve however, one that is set aside can stay there forever.

Talk with your pain. Ask her: "What do you want me?". Once you have understood your message, do something practical with this new perception. This way you can witness his transformation real.

Parental alienation involves the "programming" of a child by one parent to denigrate the other "targeted" parent, in an effort to undermine and interfere with the child's relationship with that parent. . . . Such denigration results in the child’s emotional rejection of the targeted parent, and the loss of a capable and loving parent from the life of the child. [P]arental alienation involves a set of strategies, including bad-mouthing the other parent, limiting contact with that parent, erasing the other parent from the life and mind of the child (forbidding discussion and pictures of the other parent), forcing the child to reject the other parent, creating the impression that the other parent is dangerous, forcing the child to choose between the parents by means of threats of withdrawal of affection, and belittling and limiting contact with the extended family of the targeted parent. The severe effects of parental alienation on children are well-documented; low self esteem and self-hatred, lack of trust, depression, and substance abuse and other forms of addiction are widespread, as children lose the capacity to give and accept love from a parent. Self-hatred is particularly disturbing among affected children, as children internalize the hatred targeted toward the alienated parent, are led to believe that the alienated parent did not love or want them, and experience severe guilt related to betraying the alienated parent. Hatred is not an emotion that comes naturally to a child; it has to be taught. A parent who would teach a child to hate or fear the other parent represents a grave and persistent danger to the mental and emotional health of that child. Alienated children are no less damaged than other child victims of extreme conflict, such as child soldiers and other abducted children, who identify with their tormentors to avoid pain and maintain a relationship with them, however abusive that relationship may be.

I did not take this photo, but I did edit it with Photoshop to tell a story. The message in this photo is pretty clear. The alienating parent, in this case, the mother, has been Photoshopped out except for her large hands, holding the child hostage. The child victim of parental alienation here is my love's daughter. This photo story is a true story.

Life moves on, whether we act as cowards or heroes. Life has no other discipline to impose, if we would but realize it, than to accept life unquestioningly. Everything we shut our eyes to, everything we run away from, everything we deny, denigrate or despise, serves to defeat us in the end. What seems nasty, painful, evil, can become a source of beauty, joy, and strength, if faced with an open mind. Every moment is a golden one for him who has the vision to recognise it as such. - Henry Miller

The Crap on the Wall

Feb 15

This a brief combat report from the battlefield here and abroad in the aftermath of the release last Wednesday of my story about Joe Biden’s decision to blow up the Nord Stream pipelines.

First, many thanks for your interest in what the pipeline story was all about: a very dangerous Presidential decision. You are careful readers.

I’m an old hand at dropping bombshell stories that are based on the disclosures of sources I do not, and cannot, name. There is a pattern to the response by the mainstream media. It dates back to my breakthrough story: the My Lai massacre revelation. That story was published in five installments, over five weeks in 1969, by the underground media group Dispatch News. I had tried to get the two most important magazines in America, Life and Look, to publish the story, with no success. Editors at both publications had earlier invited me to do some freelance writing for them, but they wanted nothing to do with a story about a massacre committed by American soldiers.

It was a frightening time for me, in terms of my faith in the profession I had chosen. I was allowed to read and copy by hand much of the Army’s original charge sheet accusing a sad sack 2nd Lieutenant named William L. Calley Jr. of the premeditated murder of 109 “Oriental” human beings. I also had tracked Calley, the Army’s only suspect, and interviewed him at a base in Georgia—he was tucked away—and gotten his assertion that he was merely doing what he was ordered to do. Given all this, I was more than a little rattled—make that terrified—by the failure of senior editors at prominent magazines to jump at a story that would get international attention, especially when those editors professed to deplore the war and want it to end.

Despite their obscure beginnings in the underground press, the articles I wrote eventually found their way to the mainstream media in America and around the world, as I kept on reporting. And over the years the government kept on trying to obstruct or—since they couldn’t stop me—denigrate what I was writing.

The most bizarre effort came from the Defense Department of Donald Rumsfeld. Two decades ago, Secretary Rumsfeld and Vice President Richard Cheney discarded the rule of law and common decency in their efforts to stomp out Muslim terrorism. I was writing for the New Yorker then, and the White House responded to an article I published about the CIA’s secret operations inside Iran by calling it another example of Hersh throwing “crap”—that was the word used by an assistant secretary of defense—“on a wall to see what sticks.”

Such hostility crosses political boundaries. In early 2009, when the New Yorker fact checking department asked the White House for comment on my first story after Barack Obama took office, a senior national security advisor to the President responded: “Seymour Hersh is a known fabricator.” He added the magazine could publish that response to any future Hersh story without further checking.

Alas, nothing has changed. Take a look at the casual dismissiveness of the senior spokesman of the State Department when asked a series of pipeline questions by a persistent reporter.

The New York Times published everything I wrote—most if not all on the front page—when I was an investigative reporter on the paper from 1972 to 1979. The Washington Post has followed my career as the loyal opposition and ran a long magazine profile of me more than two decades ago. Neither paper has run a word at this point about the pipeline story, not even to quote the White House’s denial of my reporting. Similarly, public calls by officials in Russia and China for a full investigation of the pipeline story have been ignored by the US media. (I cannot resist noting that a reporter from the Times called me on the day the pipeline story appeared. I told him that I was not doing interviews. He asked if I would entertain one question. I acquiesced. He asked how many publications had I offered the pipeline story before coming to Substack. Such silliness is a sign that the mainstream American press is now more interested in media gossip than in national security or matters of war and peace.)

There may be more to learn about Joe Biden’s decision to prevent the German government from having second thoughts about the lack of cheap gas this winter.

Stay tuned. We are only on first base . . .

GOP congressman claims Democrats are communists

April 2012

If you believe Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.), there are upwards of 78 to 81 members of the Communist Party sitting in Congress within the Democratic Party, an accusation that riled his colleagues.

During a town hall event in Jensen Beach, Fla., on Tuesday night, West addressed a member of the audience who asked how many members of the Democratic Party were “card-carrying Marxist socialists,” and made a bold claim about his fellow lawmakers in the Capitol.

“That’s a fair question. I believe there’s about 78 to 81 members of the Democratic Party that are members of the Communist Party,” West said.

Tim Edson, a spokesman for West, later elaborated on the congressman’s remarks.

“He stands by his words. But the words the media needs to pay attention to are the words of the members of the Progressive Caucus,” Edson said in a statement Wednesday. “They speak for themselves. Call it what you may, but these House members are clearly not proponents of capitalism, free markets or individual economic freedom.”

Though West may believe the caucus to be proponents of communism, Libero Della Piana, vice chairman of the Communist Party, denied that any of them were members of the party. “I just think it’s an absurd way to cast a shadow over his colleagues. It’s kind of a sad ploy,” Piana said in an interview with Politico.

Rep. Raul M. Grijalva (D-Ariz.), co-chairman of the Progressive Caucus, slammed West’s comments.

“Allen West is denigrating the millions of Americans who voted to elect congressional Progressive Caucus members,” Grijalva said. “And he is ignoring the oath they took to protect and defend the U.S. Constitution — just like he did.”

West, a favorite of the tea party who has recently been suggested as a possible vice presidential candidate by Sarah Palin and Herman Cain, also had some strong words for President Obama.

Behold the origins of the National Health Service.

The Temple of Vaccinia, to be found in the charming gardens of Dr Jenner's House (formerly known as The Chantry) is a Grade II* listed eighteenth-century building, constructed of stone under a thatched roof, decorated with bark from forest trees.

Dr Edward Jenner, the man who famously pioneered vaccination against smallpox, used this building as a surgery from which to vaccinate the district's poor - and, what's more, he didn't even charge them - not a single penny. How far-sighted is that! Jenner knew that in order to wipe out smallpox he would have to make it freely available to one and all - and boy, did he mean business. No amount of derision, denigration or discouragement would prevent him from pursuing his vision.

Returning from the day of adventures, our boat stopped for a very late luncheon at a cluster of thatched huts mounted on stilts in a shallow lagoon off the western shore of Isla Bastimentos. The incredibly shallow water hosted scattered copses of mangroves, and a few boats were tied up along the winding boardwalk that meandered from the shore and through the mangroves. Not to denigrate the luncheon -- it was delicious -- but the environs were the most outstanding feature at Restaurante Alfonso, the name of the establishment. From the crowds present, it was exceedingly popular as well, though the ease of tying up a boat at its dock and central location was no doubt a factor as well.

Street Harassment, Not 'Compliments'

BUENOS AIRES, Jun 8, 2011 (IPS) - Men say they are giving compliments, or even claim they are being poetic. But to many women, cheeky or lewd remarks from men on the street are a form of harassment which is offensive, insulting and even denigrating.

ipsnews.net/news.asp?idnews=55981

Journalist and author Cokie Roberts told the 385 members of Wheaton

College's Class of 2006 that while it might be popular to denigrate and

disrespect the government, it is a dangerous sentiment because government

binds us together as a nation.

"We have no nationhood except our government," said Roberts, the

award-winning senior news analyst for National Public Radio (NPR) and

political commentator for ABC News. "We have no common ethnicity, race,

history, religion, even language--despite what the Senate is up to right

now. If you look at what's happening in the rest of the world today, you

Between 1951 and 1989 East Germany's Stasi secret police used this site in Hohenschönhausen as a detention centre / prison for unsentenced suspects. Holding mainly political prisoners, it was infamous for its regime of physical and psychological torture meted out to inmates. Following the fall of the Communist regime and the disbanding of the Stasi the prison was converted into a memorial museum, the Gedenkstätte Berlin-Hohenschönhausen, on the initiative of former prisoners.

The prison was originally established in 1945 by the Soviet NKVD, the forerunner to the KGB as an internment camp ('Special Camp Nr. 3' ). This camp was closed in October 1946 but the cellar was converted into cells and served as the main detention and interrogation centre for dissidents and other undesirables. It was taken over by the East German Stasi in 1951. By 1960 / 61 a new prison building had been constructed using prisoner labour; following the construction of the Berlin Wall many attempted escapees were held here. As well as the prison facilities the Stasi also ran other operations on the site, such as a workshop for forgeries. Much of the area around the prison was a forbidden zone

Recently the memorial center was at the center of controversy when, during consultation on plans to erect memorial signs outside of the prison complex, former Stasi employees of the prison used a public meeting to cast doubt on the testimonies of former prisoners and denigrated the Memorial itself as a "Chamber of Horrors".

BUENOS AIRES, Jun 8, 2011 (IPS) - Men say they are giving compliments, or even claim they are being poetic. But to many women, cheeky or lewd remarks from men on the street are a form of harassment which is offensive, insulting and even denigrating..

Vancouver protestors came out to protest the Harper Government denigration of democracy.

- Sasha Wiley, teacher and BCTF activist

- Nathan Cullen, NDP MP for Skeena—Bulkley Valley and federal NDP leadership candidate.-

10x11" - photocopies and paint paste paper.

This is as much trashing of the original as I can do, in all conscience. I could go further but I was "pulled up short" today by a comment by Jeffrey Smart at an exhibition of his paintings curated by his friend and renowned novelist David Malouf. Specifically (and the notion of attachment/detachment is important in trashing the original since it ran against the grain to denigrate ("blacken") the Caravaggio), he said: "An artist must be like an actor, that is, thoroughly detached and objective. He is no Hurtle Duffield and no amount of intestinal writhing on canvas can compensate for poor draughtmanship, weak composition and poor colour".

I've trashed the original in all areas - draughtmanship, composition and colour - and have tried to be as dispassionate as possible, upholding Dadaism and Futurism (notwithstanding the fact they are a hundred years and now form the art Establishment). I applied a Sol LeWitt-style "system" involving inch squares and turning the original image 90 and 180 degrees in groups. In deference to Smart and his comments, I left the Worker/Jesus alone, but applied the system more or less thoroughly to the Bosses/Bullies - the whole thing being a visualisation of the Master & Servant Act, the basis on which all Australian workplace relations are based. Kauperlis' "Experimental Drawing" book talks about systems at length.

Now for the 'final insult', the addition of cut-up text...

What does one say at a time like this? Father, mentor, hero he was all and none of those, he was a man. If I exceed him does it denigrate his memory? If I don't measure up, does it make me less of a man? He was a fighter who chose the dignity of deciding his own fate, he decided that after almost 86 years of life, suffering dialysis with no future and constant pain was harder than passing with dignity and clarity. Dad you are already missed, by your children and their children, and their children. Lina says Grandpa, "I love you".

These are my German boots. I wish I could manage sleek, sexy heels but I

am a complete klutz awkward in them.

Shoot - I just remembered the no denigrating rule so let me change that to:

"I am a cute, creative klutz in heels". Better?

Civilian Conservation Corps

Camp DG-32 (Co. 234)

1935-1942

During the Great Depression of the 1930s, CCC Camps were scattered all over the USA. They provided gainful employment to youth of the nation with work on public service projects. Between 1933 and 1942, four camps were located near Moab. Each camp worked on various natural resource projects for the Soil Conservation Service, the National Park Service, and the forerunner of the Bureau of Land Management.

DG-32 was a long-lasting camp and typical of most with wooden, tar-paper covered barracks and building housing some 200 young men between the ages of 18 and 25. Enrollees came from the eastern states, and leadership was provided by the Army, Grazing Service, and local men experienced in construction and stock grazing needs.

Under spartan conditions, clothing, food, and housing were provided in the primitive camp. Pay was $30 per month with $25 sent home.

DG-32 projects included many range improvements: stock trails down the precipitous sandstone cliffs, spring developments, wells and stock ponds, eradication of rodents that competed with stock for feed, fences for corrals and pastures, reservoir dams, roads and bridges. These projects provided on-the-job training for the enrollees, besides the benefits they brought to the local economy. Many of these works are still in use today. The value of the camp and its works to Grand County is beyond estimation. It was a significant milestone that greatly influenced the economic history of the county.

All that remains of the camp today are the cottonwood trees planted by the enrollees that you see fronting this site, concrete slabs for buildings, graveled roads and rock-outlined walkways, the remains of an old windmill and a rock masonry water storage tank. these remnants signify the moving history of a time when America valiantly struggled to restore its economic stability and provide its young people with meaningful employment.

Japanese-American

World War II

Concentration Camp, 1943

On January 11, 1943, a train pulled into the Thompson Station north of here with armed Military Police guarding sixteen male American citizens of Japanese ancestry. While the locals of the town waited to cross the tracks, the entourage was loaded and transferred to the old abandoned "CCC: camp located here at Dalton Wells.

Their crime? They were classified as "troublemakers" in the Manzanar, California Relocation Center where they and their families had been forcibly located at the start of World War II. Removed from their homes in California under a Presidential Executive Order, they were subject to the whim and mercy of poorly-trained bureaucrats and military personnel in the center. The Executive Presidential Order was the result of wartime hysteria, racial bigotry, and greed.

The original sixteen men were removed from Manzanar and brought here without the benefit of council. They did not have a formal hearing or proper arrest proceedings, and the action was in total violation of their civil rights. It was a process more compatible with fascism than democracy.

The inmates troubles worsened when an informer and confidant of the administration was beaten. An organizer of the mess hall workers was thrown into jail as a suspect. A meeting was held in the camp to protest the jailing and a riot resulted. Two inmates were killed by trigger-happy soldiers.

Other Japanese-American men were soon brought to the camp. Thirteen came from Gila River, Arizona, having been charged as being members of an organization which was fully sanctioned by camp officials. Ten more came from Manzanar as "suspected troublemakers." Fifteen came from Tule Lake, California, charged with refusing to register their availability for the draft and their loyalty fo the U.S. under a set of confusing, denigrating requirements.

All these men were U.S. citizens; some were veterans of World War I, others were family men, college graduates, and responsible U.S. citizens. Their incarceration here is a vivid example of how our Japanese-American citizens were treated during World War II. May this sad, low point in the history of our democracy never be forgotten, in the hope that it will never happen again.

The group was transferred by truck to an abandoned Indian school at Leupp, Arizona, on April 27, 1943. As those involved began to realize the inequity of the situation, the inmates were released back to relocation centers later that year. Thus, a black mark in the history of liberty and justice in the United States was ended.

Created 27 April 2017 using free, public domain clipart.

On 25 April 2017 “by the will of Allah” a herd of wild boars killed several ISIS terrorists who were planning to ambush innocent civilians – www.usatoday.com/story/news/world/2017/04/25/wild-boars-o.... The herd basically stampeded over the terrorists and in doing so they confirmed the new reality. No longer should they be considered the lowest and most impure creature in Islam; members of ISIS are the lowest and worst creatures because of their depraved evil that abhors women, free will, and the infinite preciousness of God’s created life.

To corroborate this, the fallen ISIS terrorists are covered with pig footprints, their torn flag is marked with pig footprints, a cheering crowd joyfully proclaims ISIS is the real swine and Qur’anic verses are used to perfectly describe them. To cap it off, since ISIS denigrates women, a Muslim woman pronounces final judgment.

It should also be noted that ISIS with its low self-esteem and anger “retaliated” killing scores of wild boars a day later. :(

CULTURAL NATIONALISM, CONGRESS CONSPIRACY AND COMMUNISTS'ANTI-NATIONAL LEGACY IN INDIAlll ~ .

Cultural nationalism is directed at organizing and consolidating India's n1oral, physical and cultural strength. So that India can stand tall and proud holding its own with best in the world. Cultural nationalism is the n1ost glorious product of our national , renaissance and has been the leading inspiration and ideologicnl bedrock of our august str·uggle for our freedom. Our glorious struggle of freedom entailed overwhelming sacrifices of unsung heroes and when eventually INDIA breathed first \\'hiff of freedom in 1947, the communist lost no time in terming the hard-won freedom a · fake and meaningless. \Vhen a treacherous Communist China, in a total breach of trust, attacked India in 1962, the lndian Communists celebrated the Chinese invasion The communists' politics of drama, deceit and duplicity \Vas once aga1n exposed when they joyously haiJed nuclear tests by China in 1964, but India conducted its nuclear test in 1998, they took to the streets, breast beating against india's crucia! defense upgradation. The outgoing JNUSU President from AJSA, who is again in the fray grossly, insulted Dr. Kala1n by refusing to present him a bouquet, but the sa1ne communists admjnistered bridal embellishments to JNU to welcome the Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez. .

The communists have been a perpetual national calamity through out their existence in India. It is therefore important to learn from history; else history has this uncanny tendency to repeat itself. Tens of thousands of Muslim hardliners gather at Motijheel downtown in Bangladesh capital Dhaka on April 6, 2013 demanding blasphemy law and death penalty for bloggers who they termed atheists and held guilty of denigrating Islam and its Prophet.

Morrison on the origins of the paper he co-wrote with Giuseppe Cocconi, “Searching for Interstellar Communications”:

“Well, gamma ray astronomy arose out of the fact that Bob Wilson at Cornell was building a good, nice new electron synchrotron with which he was able to make high-energy gamma rays. And so they were all the talk, and we tried to calculate how far they would go and so on. And Cocconi came to me one day — I’ve often reported this — and said, ‘You know what, Phil? If there are people out there, won’t they communicate with gamma rays that'll cross the whole galaxy?’ And I said, ‘Gee, I know nothing about that. They will cross the galaxy. It’s very thin in hydrogen. But not all that well. There will be some loss.’ ‘What about radio?’ he said. ‘I don’t know much about radio, but I understand there is a lot of radio out there. Why not use radio? It’s much cheaper. You get many more photons per watt and that must be what counts.’ And we began working on that and pretty soon we knew enough about radio astronomy to publish a paper called, as you say — ‘Searching for Interstellar Communications,’ yes. Which of course is not yet SETI, but it's a much better name. SETI has always made me unhappy because it somehow denigrates the situation. It wasn’t the intelligence we could detect; it was the communications we could detect. Yes, they imply intelligence, but that's so evident that it’s better to talk about getting signals from them, not just telepathy, you know, that sort of argument.”

The grid plan denigrated, adapted and upgraded:

Though the map shows a perfectly rectangular grid, it is not so for residents that drive, when they do. It has become a labyrinthine set of paths full of prohibitions, forced turns and one-ways. Yet it retains its exact shape and functionality for citizens are on foot that it had when it was first put in place. The result: A hybrid, or, for some, a Jekyll and Hyde metamorphosis.

Self-Portrait Date:

1937

Artist:

Max Beckmann

German, 1884–1950

ABOUT THIS ARTWORK

Max Beckmann was one of the Weimar Republic’s most honored artists and one of those most vilified by the Nazis. This self-portrait was perhaps the last painting the artist completed in Berlin before he and his wife fled to the Netherlands on July 20, 1937. Their flight occurred just two days after Adolf Hitler delivered a speech condemning modern art and one day after the opening of the exhibition Degenerate Art, the Nazis’ official denigration of the avant-garde, which included twenty-two of Beckmann’s works. The artist departed Germany just in time: in 1937 more than five hundred of his works were confiscated from public collections.

The most brilliantly colored and aggressive of all of Beckmann’s self-portraits (he painted over eighty), this powerful work depicts the artist, near life size, on the staircase of a hotel lobby, separated from two figures in the background on the right. Beckmann steps to the left, while his dark-rimmed gaze and the entire picture plane—curtains, flowers, staircase, and banisters—seem to slide off to the right. His large hands hang down, limp, against his black tuxedo.

While driving along a parkway at the edge of this neighbourhood you get one chance in five to enter it and then........... you arrive at this intersection - only right, even if you want to visit someone on the same street further down. Left onto the next intersecting street is also impossible.

Of course there is a very rational argument for this solution - one that ignores people's normal behaviour.

One more mal-adaptation of the grid on its way to serving city residents. The old-fashioned grid denigrated and its touted connectivity shattered.

pentax takumar 55m F2 lens test on eos 550D. As you can see I had problems with the focus.

Its a great lens when you suss the focus!

There is no VR or IS so you need fastish shutter speeds to compensate.

My verdict

Build quality 10/10

You know these are very good quality as soon as you pick one up and fiddle around with it using the focus and aperture etc.

Made of metal and smooth as silk, ,make no mistake these lenses are CLASS!

Lens sharpness 8/10 I'm maybe denigrating it here but I did have trouble focussing the thing.

I have used taks and super taks before and I do like them

Practibility..7/10. You lose autofocus obviously and it is awkward trying to get the focus crack on.

You also need to buy an adapter. No problem at all if you dont mind it,

Value for money 10/10 these can be had dirt cheap secondhand on ebay.

I'd give 11 out of 10 if it were possible!

I read this in the online Guardian..... a comment piece around the urinating Marines in Afghanistan:

"Right from the start, you could argue, war photography was disreputable, a dirty business, tainted by voyeurism. The desire to see the dead of battle was starkly served by Brady. Since then, war photography has become a profession, even an art, regulated unofficially by editors' decisions of what is and is not to be shown â but the voyeuristic impulse is still there in our appetite for photographs of war."

This Guardian piece rather muddles war photography with urinating on dead Taliban fighters..... It's depressing....... Photographers need to be clear photography is not abuse.... yeah lets say it...... " It is not abuse to make photographs "....... It really is not ....... Opinion formers are making photography into abuse ...... even serious photojournalism ....... This article muddles the abuses that participants in wars are committing with the photography that photojournalists make during those wars .......... This is part of an ongoing trend that positions photography as abuse ....... this thought process is particularly developed in Britain ..... I think we should not join in with any of this ....... In fact, we should stand together against it ...... photographers should be less keen to denigrate paparazzi or TV crews and other media ... we only assist others to push their agenda that all photography is abuse .... how does that thing go? When they came for the paps I did nothing because I was not a pap....?
