Steve and I visited Indonesia for the first time in May 2018 for ten days. We made stops in Jakarta and Yogyakarta (both in Java) and Labuan Bajo in East Nusa Tenggara/ Flores. We saw friends from graduate school, and visited mosques, cathedrals, and ancient temples. We swam with fishes, manta rays, and even baby sharks. We saw amazing sunrises and endlessly beautiful sunsets. Indonesia is a generous, wonderful, and stunningly gorgeous place, and we will be glad to visit again sometime soon.
A very orange meal with sweet potatoes, carrots, chicken and peppers. Bright green limes and brilliant red pomegranate pips offer contrast.

Salad with mozzarella, rucola, and tomatoes, with a subtle but nice dressing.
Served by my friend Dave (check out his beautiful photo stream!) and his wife, as part of a DELICIOUS 3-course dinner.
The next photos in my stream show the rest...
We visited Tokyo Dome City in Suidobashi. Little did I know, we would spend hours in the Shonen Jump store.
This place was awesome, but quite expensive. Worth a visit for the crazy architexture.
What a great name for a restaurant. Delicious Food Co. What else needs to be said? We didn't actually eat here though. I think we missed out on some real delicious food--maybe.
Just sharing some previously unposted pics of meals gone by from the Colombian restaurant, El Carretero. This is one of those places that you might not have ever noticed before ... here in Mauldin, SC. It is located on Laurens Rd (aka Main St. Mauldin).
First up is the most unusual hot dog ( perro caliente) that I have ever had. It is dressed with a salady-condiment and crushed potato chips and then topped off with quail eggs. I realize it may sound a little different...but it is pretty darn delicious!
Next are empanadas and an empanada like item. I can't remember the name... but I think it has something to do with the word for potato... delish!
Next is steak with calentado (if i spelled it right... rice, beans, plantains) and an arepa (corn cake...it may look like a tortilla... but its not.)
The last pics are of the Colombian picante ... chock full of onions and cilantro... it is spicy...but not overbearingly hot...great condiment!
and look, you can buy a bottle to take home!
