A rainy hike up to the Delicate Arch did not pan out, as the inclement weather failed to break in any way, and the arch itself became overran with the foreign tourists that had trailed us. After this moment, there was no shot to be had... not that any would have been that great with the flat lighting anyways. On our way down, the weather intensified into a full downpour, and we took some solace in having prepped weather protection for our equipment, and being in our hardshells.
- www.kevin-palmer.com - Delicate Arch is the most famous landmark in Arches National Park. The 65 foot tall arch is depicted on Utah license plates and postage stamps. In the background you can see the snowcapped La Sal Mountains. This panorama is made up of 6 vertical shots. The sunset was a bit of a disappointment this evening without much color.

The world famous "Delicate" arch in Arches National Park. It really took and hdr to get any of the detail in the shadow areas. I hope the hdr helps to allow the light to sculpture the rock.
This view is from the opposite side (across a valley), and in that regard is unusual.

A solitary bluebell standing alone looking rather fragile and delicate.
This was four shots stitched together in Hugin. Look closely at near the upper center portion to see Delicate Arch in Arches National Park. Hiking up the rock formations on the other side of the valley really gives you a new perspective on the arch and the geology that formed it.
I wish these delightful Sweetheart roses were growing in my garden, but instead I spotted them growing all around a parking lot beside some new stores & restaurants that just popped up! A beautiful sight, especially in October!
One of the many patterns that have been formed around the hot springs at Mammoth Hot Springs, Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, US. These were such beautiful, thin, delicate layers.
"Mammoth Hot Springs is a large complex of hot springs on a hill of travertine in Yellowstone National Park ... It was created over thousands of years as hot water from the spring cooled and deposited calcium carbonate (over two tons flow into Mammoth each day in a solution). Although these springs lie outside the caldera boundary, their energy has been attributed to the same magmatic system that fuels other Yellowstone geothermal areas... A caldera is a cauldron-like volcanic feature usually formed by the collapse of land following a volcanic eruption. They are sometimes confused with volcanic craters."

A young man returning to shore after a couple hours of throwing net. He was catching small fishes to be used as bait in a finishing trip later that evening.
When I got to Moab, I was disappointed to find out that the road to Delicate Arch was closed due to flood damage. Every day of the 9 days that I was in the area I checked to see if it reopened and every day I was disappointed. Until my last day - it finally opened and I got to see in person one of the most iconic natural wonders on the planet!
Delicate Arch in Moab, UT. Of all the times I have been there, this was one of the nicest. A perfect sky with great visibility. Love that you can clearly make out the snow covered mountains through the arch on this warm April day.
