Of our stay in Arches National Park, we ended up picking the best-weather evening of the bunch to make the trek up to Delicate Arch.
When we arrived there the arch was still in shadows; families taking photos... Eventually, there was a lull in family photographs as the sun slowly peeked below the clouds... But of course, an errant family tried to run in and take a family photograph... and they were shooed out! I've never been to a park where people have been shooed away from taking photos under tha monument.
I could get used to this.

I think this is a Yu Ban Bai peony, also called White of Jade or Tree Peony. The flowers are almost dinner plate size and quite spectacular with their delicate, tissue-like petals.
Catching up on some back shots from the beginning of the year.
Little Akaloa....Out and about with my Flickr and blip friend on Banks Peninsula. February 20, 2016, New Zealand.
It was warm and wonderful so we packed up a lunch and headed for the hills and bays around the banks peninsula. It reached will over 30c today.. a bit too hot at times and there was no wind at all.
The historic gem of Little Akaloa is a church hidden away among old trees, commanding a fine view down the bay. The present St Luke's replaced an earlier wooden church and was completed in November 1906. It has an "old world" English-looking exterior, with walls of pebble dash on concrete, a slate roof and a small well-proportioned bell tower.
The surprise is the interior, which is embellished with carvings of predominantly Maori motifs, many delicately executed on white stone. The rafters are decorated with Maori patterns and support an imitation raupo rush ceiling. The windows have stylised Maori designs in coloured glass.
The church was built (and partly paid for) by a local resident, J.H. Menzies, who was "an amateur carver of the very highest order". It is one of the country's early examples of the incorporation of Maori decorative motifs in a European building.

Just a second shot from my visit to Delicate Arch in Arches National Park. This one shows the view to the left, without the dramatic sunset.
Another one from when I was walking back to work this afternoon. I had a quick look in the garden of the local Quaker meeting house and found these very pretty pink flowers.
I took a few images of the flowers on this plant, and kept two; the other is a different view with a darker green and pink background. The paler, grey-green background of this image seemed to complement the delicate nature of the flowers themselves.
I really like doing flower shots where there is a variety in the flowers themselves. Here there is four aspects to the thing; one flower fully opened, one sort of curled up, one closed and one bud.
As usual, I should say that I'm rubbish at botany, so if anyone can tell me a species name I'd be most grateful.
And so on and so on...
So why do you fill my sorrow
With the words you've borrowed from the only place you've known?

I have no idea what kind of flower these are but they were found in the forested areas near Spruce Bog at Algonquin Provincial Park in Ontario, Canada. I loved the delicate flowers and how tiny they were. It was like finding a little gem stone on my walk. via 500px ift.tt/2wv98oK

I used +1, +2,+4 and +10 close up filters all combined for this little bud. Quite pleased with the result :)

A picture of delicate arch at approx. 1am, with the lights of Moab and the Milky Way in the background.
Painting with light was used to light up the arch a little, as there was no moon at all!

From my trip to Arches National Park in Utah. I loved the park so much i actually spent two days there. The delicate arch is the most famous one and also my favorite one, it's just awesome! It's a very strenuous hike this this arch, for those that have been here they would agree with me:) It's an 4.8km hike and mostly uphill, well worth it though trust me! For the best photos and light go just before sunset.

Black-winged stilt (Himantopus himantopus) treads gently over the mangrove mud in early morning sunlight.
A pure beauty from Fred's yard...I took a whole series of this blossom as it is exquisite. It will give Angel Face a run for its money as far as beauty goes. Enjoy the photos to come......
Dainty & delicate thread-like petals on these wild flowers really make them special!
They're all of 1/2" in size, with an even tinier visitor! Actually I didn't notice a second
visitor until now. Can you find it?
