Millions of years of erosion exposed the 52 foot tall 33 foot wide Delicate Arch, one of the most famous Entrada Sandstone formations in the world. The arch is depicted on Utah's license plates and used as a gateway for the Olympic torch, which passed beneath the arch on its way to Salt Lake City for the 2002 Winter Olympics. One of the best, most rewarding hikes I have been on!

It's a 1.5 mile hike to Delicate Arch - I highly recommend it. On this day the sun illuminated the arch for about 3 mins before disappearing. What an awesome experience. 6 vertical shotes with a 50mm Ziess at F8.

Wasatch Mountain Range in the background is a world famous natural erosion feature that attracts tourists from around the world but involves a 1.5 mile uphill walk.
This little syrphid fly was hovering around a patch of Passiflora lutea in Durham NC (USA) on 27 August 2021.

The identification is tentative but it's probably a tiger moth caterpillar of some kind! Taken in the La Crosse River Marsh.

- www.kevin-palmer.com - Delicate Arch is the most famous landmark in Arches National Park. The 65 foot tall arch is depicted on Utah license plates and postage stamps. In the background you can see the snowcapped La Sal Mountains. The sun only shone on the arch for a few minutes when I got there, and then disappeared behind clouds.
