Made the trek to Delicate Arch as the sun was setting. This evening was actually clear, however the smoke from the western fires covers the horizon.

Last August we found a field looking like blooming rapeseed. It was like a little journey through the time, into May when the fields are yellow and the summer will just begin.

Incredibly delicate little guys - only 2cm tall. We almost missed them.

My fantastic hubby took me to the Orchid show at Como zoo this weekend for my birthday which isn't until tomorrow, but I was able to celebrate it all weekend. Now that is how a birthday should be celebrated...all weekend , and with the one's you love!

Played with a mini vase and a simple stem of my lavender, add some light, texture, a frosty surface, and boom we have today's photo knocked out! I wish I could come up with more complex compositions but I am a simple person and have to just accept that about myself. Happy Saturday!

The back of my Grandfathers' watch. He was a silversmith and an engraver.

These lovely light mauve flowers are really a bit of a weed and very hardy, flowering late autumn on my sloping patio garden. Oxalis??

The ultimate southwest icon, Delicate Arch. It's been photographed a million times before, including by me, so there's nothing new in my shot. But it's still pretty cool.

You'd need the patience of a saint waiting for a clean shot of the Arch, but I called it quits after a couple of hours and resorted to cloning out a couple of people from a less prominent area.

Dendrobium delicatum is an Australian native orchid, actually a hybrid of two other natives. This one was hanging in a pot under a tree when I bought my house in the Gold Coast hinterland. It was not in good shape. Repotting, relocating and disciplined watering allowed it to prosper. It is now producing multiple stems each spring, smooth, delicate and beautiful.

It seems as though the delicate pink colour within the petals was painted by a master artist. One of the prettiest peonies that I've ever seen.
