Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
from "I Wandered Lonely As A Cloud" by Wordsworth
La Monja Gitana
Federico Garcia Lorca
Silencio de cal y mirto.
Malvas en las hierbas finas.
La monja borda alhelíes
sobre una tela pajiza.
Vuelan en la araña gris,
siete pájaros del prisma.
La iglesia gruñe a lo lejos
como un oso panza arriba.
¡Qué bien borda! ¡Con qué gracia!
Sobre la tela pajiza,
ella quisiera bordar
flores de su fantasía.
¡Qué girasol! ¡Qué magnolia
de lentejuelas y cintas!
¡Qué azafranes y qué lunas,
en el mantel de la misa!
Cinco toronjas se endulzan
en la cercana cocina.
Las cinco llagas de Cristo
cortadas en Almería.
Por los ojos de la monja
galopan dos caballistas.
Un rumor último y sordo
le despega la camisa,
y al mirar nubes y montes
en las yertas lejanías,
se quiebra su corazón
de azúcar y yerbaluisa.
¡Oh!, qué llanura empinada
con veinte soles arriba.
¡Qué ríos puestos de pie
vislumbra su fantasía!
Pero sigue con sus flores,
mientras que de pie, en la brisa,
la luz juega el ajedrez
alto de la celosía.

The Gypsy Nun
Federico García Lorca
Silence of lime and myrtle.
Mallows in fine herbs.
The nun embroiders wallflowers
on a straw cloth.
They fly in the gray spider,
seven birds of the prism.
The church growls in the distance
like a bear belly up.
How well you embroider! With what grace!
On the straw cloth,
she would like to embroider
fantasy flowers from her.
What a sunflower! what a magnolia
of sequins and ribbons!
What crocuses and what moons,
on the tablecloth of the mass!
Five grapefruits are sweetened
in the nearby kitchen.
The five wounds of Christ
cut in Almeria.
Through the eyes of the nun
Two horsemen gallop.
One last deaf rumor
she takes off his shirt,
and when looking at clouds and mountains
in the deserted distances,
she breaks her heart
of sugar and yerbaluisa.
Oh what a steep plain
with twenty soles above.
What rivers stood
she catches a glimpse of her fantasy!
But she continues with her flowers,
while standing in the breeze,
light plays chess
top of the lattice.
A delicate balance and a modicum of patience is required for me to set up this image, me being a sometimes grumpy and impatient chap. The forks were set up on a mirror and the glass ball was adorned with a small star to acknowledge that the festive season is once again upon us.
Delicate Arch is een 16 meter hoge vrijstaande natuurlijke boog van zandsteen in het Arches National Park
Arches National Park : A 1.5 mile - 2.3 km trail (500 foot elevation gain) leads to the base of Delicate Arch, possibly the most famous natural span in the world. The La Sal Mountains are visible through the opening in the arch.
I saw this delicate Umbellifer at Boyce Thompson Arboretum and thought it was nicely delicate. Umbellifers are an order of plant that includes parsley, fennel, carrots and about 400 other species. Happy Umbellifer Wednesday
This stunning delicate pink cactus dahlia was growing in a herbaceous border in the garden at Forde Abbey, Dorset.
"Every time I walk through the world, I am awed by what I find. On a winter morning, when it seems too cold and slippery for safe jogging or bicycling, I can still go out and experience the glory of sunlight turning icy branches into strings of sparkling diamonds."
~ Bernie Siegel

Blossom the neighbours plum tree that grows over our front fence.
Processed with mulberry silk from the Painterly Flypaper pack and Ming from Tex box 2.
This tiny handmade porcelain vase of lilies is no more than 3 cm (1 1/2") as shown in the photo.
I collected 12 of these beauties, a different flower for each month of the year. Each unique in its creation and handpainting.
Taken for the Macro Monday theme of 'Delicate'
Phlox diffusa, Pacfic Crest Trail, Washington
The mountain wildflower species here are diverse and abundant, and I have many favorites among them, but I especially love seeing the carpets of phlox growing profusely on the hillsides along the alpine trails.
So soft and delicate in appearance, yet they thrive in some of the harshest conditions, preferring dry slopes, rocks, and gravel, bringing life to terrain that would otherwise seem barren. Their exuberant beauty is often such a contrast to their surroundings, and I admire their ability to bloom with such joy in difficult conditions.

Made the trek to Delicate Arch as the sun was setting. This evening was actually clear, however the smoke from the western fires covers the horizon.
Arches National Park, Utah
Last August we found a field looking like blooming rapeseed. It was like a little journey through the time, into May when the fields are yellow and the summer will just begin.
