The tail end of Hurricane Epsilon battered the Cornish coast today. The old pumping engine house at Crowns, Botallack stands defiantly in the onslaught of the Atlantic storm.

A magnificent old tree stands defiant against the ravages of the winter storms, it's spring growth starting to show on its branches, unlike the remains of the trunk that sits behind it. Taken at Whiteleaf, Buckinghamshire.

Just a fence made of wrought iron about a century ago and more recently a home to a lichen. Taken as I approached home after a walk. It was lucky not to be melted down to make armaments for a war in the 20th century but now is probably safer in the covid wars.

Despite the horrible stormy weather we've had, for what seems like forever, my mini narcissus are flowering - HMBT!

The stray cable at the top of this stobie pole seems to be giving the world the "finger" defiantly.

DRS' 68005 'Defiant' leads TPE Mk5a set TP03 and 68025 'Superb' across New Mills Viaduct on 5Q24 from York to Longsight Traction Maintenance Depot. 68025 is a little poorly, so 68005 was sent to bring the entire rake home for attention. The easiest way to do this was to head out to Malton for 005 to run round and then bring the entire ensemble back to Manchester.

A lovely afternoon in the Hope Valley, and the sunlit viaduct provides the perfect frame for the consist here I think.

….. A lost cause though I fear with -2°C on this shot & -4°C last night, their season is now over! Winter has well & truly arrived!!! Never mind soon be spring! Alan:-)….

Taken outside Cologne’s DOM Cathedral, this photo and the other previous one of this woman were taken only a minute apart turning into portraits in contrast — one alive with wind-swept motion, the other resting in Defiant Silence. Together they reveal both the fleeting and the steadfast. Captured on a Leica M11 Monochrom with a 50mm Summilux.

IF ANYONE IS INTERESTED IN TEXTURES OR COLORFUL LAYERS....FREE...I made quite a few last night.they are in a set and stream.......but here is a link as well.

Defiant - a bit of Photoshop manipulation of an old shot from the CCC trip to the Cheviot tunnel near Yea. Original in comments.

Having to make do with a little bit of re-editing of old shots as some ill health has me confined somewhat.

This one actually makes me smile. I was out in a local town shooting a roll of film through a camera that I intended on selling just to make sure everything worked. There were some stairs going up to a parking lot on top of a building and I was looking at the stairs to see if there was a picture there to be had when these two young lads bustled past on their way up the stairs. They had noticed my camera and when they got to the top of the stairs one of them turned around and shouted down - did I want to take his picture. I laughed and said sure and he gave me that pose and "attitude" before laughing and running off.

The dead gum trees standing defiant, in the late afternoon sun, at Lake Bonney, South Australia.

The Snowy Owl, taken on a recent trip out, it was the first picture I took on that day out, turned out to be a very productive day…. The snowy owl, also known as the polar owl, the white owl and the Arctic owl, is a large, white owl of the true owl family. Snowy owls are native to the Arctic regions of both North America and the Palearctic, breeding mostly on the tundra.
