Happy Australia Day to my Aussie friends.

A defiant pair of poppies have survived all of the farmers efforts to remove them from the edge of his field. The last of the season I would imagine.

OCEAN DEFIANT (MMSI: 316038834) is a Tug sailing under the flag of Canada. Her length overall (LOA) is 20 meters and her width is 7 meters.

Despite the intermittent frosts and, yes, even the snow, this tulip is defiantly resolving the issue: Spring is here!

The feral instinct can never completely be modified in a cat born wild. I worked for an entire year getting close to this cat, then finally captured her and had her vetted. She settled happily for a few years, then went walk-about for 2 years, before returning home in 2019. My cats all have distinctly different personalities, and TinkerBell's continues to surprise and fascinate me.

This battered tree stood out with its branches held up to the misty sky while all around it is debris and fallen comrades. Taken in Hillock Wood, Buckinghamshire.

Striking a fierce pose, this Bald Eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus) scans the surrounding prairie for prairie dog morsels, while ruminating on the potential fate of democracy in the country for which it serves as a symbol. This weathered dead cottonwood makes for a great perch to keep an eye on a large area, though it may not last too many more years with the ravages of decomposition and high winds.

...and distinct. What remains of a pine in a misty glade in the forest... Perhaps the end of a dream I once had...

I dread to think of the forces that twisted this poor tree to destruction. Just glad I wasn't around when it happened. Still, it's remaining shape does remind me of the statue of liberty with arm aloft! I've passed this tree numerous times and it is a swine to get in frame, but reasonably pleased with this one. Taken in Barnes's Grove, Buckinghamshire.

At a table outside a McDonald’s restaurant in Sydney’s Circular Quay, a young man leans forward in his chair puffing rebelliously on a cigar. In the background a seagull waits, its keen eyes fixed on the man, perhaps awaiting an expected opportunity.

A night photography session at Tyseley in support of Vintage Trains, which is progressing towards creating its own main line operating company, featured a trio of Castles. Spot-lighting brought out the best of GWR 4073 Class No. 5080 Defiant, No. 5043 Earl of Mount Edgcumbe and No. 7029 Clun Castle, with headboard The Zulu, on 13th April 2018. The event was arranged by Martin Creese of 30742 Charters.

Joy Ride...

From The Archives;

This shot of a stormy summer day at Jack Darling Park in August of 2018, the sky was brooding and rain was just starting to fall, people quickly started to packing up and heading to their cars. within minutes the once crowded beach was empty

As we made the way back to our car we heard this throaty rumbling exhaust sound and when i looked back a guy driving a classic Chevy drove by, he had this huge smile on his face. He was defiantly enjoying the drive.

I passed up this guy twice folks but returned to do some photography on him only because of his markings, I did not recognize this bird in this stage of development, and realized it was indeed a Very young Osprey, and the look was a defiant one and definitely a stare down, so here it is folks, taken yesterday.

Another of this wonderful tree but just after the colour of sunrise had faded to more subtle tones. In this one you can make out the berries clearer and they make a nice contrast with the sky. We were quite surprised that so many berries had remained untouched... mind you, it was chilly up there!

...and there it stands in the darkness, defiant against the water that ever runs round its roots...

Despite the breeze and the freezing temp earlier this tiny leaf is still holding on.

I don't know why this American robin (Turdus migratorius) stood its ground for so long. It sang to me as I repositioned many times around the tree. There is a 'new' downspout nest nearby that it may have been defending its territory.

Our first time catching a Red-headed Woodpecker! This guy really draws the eye, and when he assumed this confident stance, I knew I had to use this photo. #bird #birding #woodpecker
