At this point Doug and I ventured toward the bridge... actually we are on the disused train bridge at this point. This shot is looking back from where were walked from. Not very wise as it was windy and the planks I was standing on were soft. Doug crossed to this point walking on the ties... with nothing below us but a 20 foot drop... abort.

Another outting on this night, temps dropped into the mid 30's but the contender tonight was the WIND. Luckily by the end of the night it has subsided. Our group was comprised of Threshold, Skazama, Rizzolo, Flickrless Doug and I. We started here and eventually walked over to that bridge in the distance.
My bag was extra heavy this night as I tugged along 3 SLRs and two tripods. I had my F100 with Fuji RTPII 64T and BurnBlue's Pentax SP1000 with Agfa APX 25 and my D50. The Pentax began to show some shutter release lag due to the decreasing temps.

This private residence in the City of Pasadena was a location used for the 2010 comedy "Date Night".

PERSONAL FUN FACT: My sister and I got these items sometime in 2011. I think they were included in the "Filthy Disney Bin" that we bought at an "indoor yard sale." I could be wrong though...it's been SO many years. I know that we didn't have these pieces as kids, because they are so distinctive. The waffle, eggs, bread, and toast with jam would have been favorite food pieces no doubt. I never had actual separate eggs or bread slices as a child. Barbie could make toast, but you'd have to pretend to take slices from the bread bags. Barbie could eat eggs, but the eggs never left the cartons. And it was the same with waffles. I adore how this set actually comes with those physical food items, rather than just the packaging they'd come in. The color change feature is subtle...not something I ever noticed until I identified these pieces. It is a little sad we are missing the bacon, but for the most part, we have all the best accessories so I cannot complain!

PERSONAL FUN FACT written by my sister: Oh Edward...I thought the four Twilight dolls we found--this Edward, Jacob, and two Bellas--were a really neat acquisition. However, it wasn't until I was dressing this guy up that I fell really in love with them. We were filming a "Dolly Transformations" video and I was trying to find Edward an outfit that worked, as he was the only Twilight doll we got without the original outfit. Anyway, we ended up getting carried away, making a lot of ridiculous jokes...It was then that I discovered just how fun the Twilight dolls are. I had the time of my life setting up all the Twilight dolls, the Monster High, and the two Bratz we found at the Salvation Army one day for a thumbnail to adorn the "Dolly Transformations" video. Now when I look at Edward, Jacob, or our two Bellas (I consider the more goth looking one to be his girlfriend), they just make me feel playful. Edward in particular is really striking looking--he is so pale and definitely looks like a vampire. I've really fallen in love with our Twilight dolls--especially this Edward!

Curt Teich emigrated to Chicago in 1895. He had worked as a lithographer in Lobenstein, Germany.
He founded the Curt Teich Company in 1898, concentrating on newspaper and magazine printing. He was an early publisher of postcards, but he didn't begin printing them himself until 1908.
According to MetroPostcard.com, "As his competition dwindled, his sales expanded and his American factories would eventually turn out more postcards than any other in the United States. "
The company was best known for its wide range of advertising and postcards of North America. By the 1920s, it was producing so many postcards with borders that they became recognized as a type dubbed "White Border Cards," creating an "era."
Curt Teich started using offset presses in 1907, but it took a number of years before he had offset presses made to his satisfaction and many more years for him to perfect the method.
His innovations in this printing technique directly led to the production of what we now call "linens" by the early 1930s.
The company aided the war effort during the second world war by also printing many military maps.
Curt Teich eventually turned management of the company over to his son, but he remained active in company operations throughout its history.
Curt Teich died in 1974 and the family business was sold to Regensteiner Publishers who continued to print postcards at the Chicago plant until 1978 when the rights to the company name and processes were sold to the Irish company, John Hinde Ltd. Their California subsidiary now prints postcards under the name John Hinde Curteich, Inc.

Pretty Changes Barbie #2598 from 1978 Wearing Dinner Date Fashion #9170 from 1989. This outfit is unusual in that despite being packaged in a blistercard, the outfit was sewn onto a card rather than glued on. Without the purse and necklace as they were getting in my way, and I didn't think the colours went the best with the rest of the outfit.

PERSONAL FUN FACT: I thought that this was the coolest playset idea ever, when I found out about it in the pages of Margo Rana's "Disney Dolls Identification & Price Guide." I was about five when this movie came out, so I did own merchandise. But it was very limited in my area, which is why I either don't recall seeing this, or I simply never encountered it. The only cooler thing Mattel could have made in terms of a playset, would have been the cathedral Quasimodo lived in. That's probably a bit ambitious...but boy would I have loved it. Anyways, I was very into making my dolls nomadic, when I was a kid. So I'm sure if I had this back then, it would have sparked my imagination. I got this in an eBay lot at the start of 2011. It was paired with my True Hearts Gift Set and a few extra bits and bobs...all of the stuff was used. I thought it made more financial sense to miss out on a few random accessories, and get this tent and used dolls. Buying it all still sealed would have been very costly. And honestly, this tent wasn't that easy to find online in the first place. I had this on display for about a decade, until I needed more room for dolls. But it still comes out often for photos. It's really easy to take apart and stores compactly. It might not be stellar quality, but it has stood the test of time. I always loved the blending of different colors and patterns that were used for this movie. This tent is a perfect representation of that, and truly encapsulates the vibe of the film.
