HEAD MOLD: 1976 "Superstar"
***The doll on the left is wearing 1989 Fashion Finds #2613. She also has had a partial re-root.
The doll in the middle is wearing 1984 My First Barbie Fashions #7918.
The doll on the far right is wearing 1982 Fashion Fun City Shopping #5716.
PERSONAL FUN FACT: I got the doll on the left during the early fall of 2015, in the "Jewel Secrets Barbie bin." She was a very pathetic looking creature when I first brought her home and identified her. I remember how pleased I was when I first learned of this girl's identity because for quite sometime, Colleen and I had mistook our 1987 Doctor Barbie (aka Julia) as a 1987 Fun-to-Dress. It was refreshing to actually own this doll, and not to be calling the wrong doll by her name! Generally speaking, when I get dolls with really bad hair cuts (typically ones that go to their scalp), I use the doll as a body donor. However there are very rare, special circumstances in which I re-root a doll with a hair cut. Luckily for this Barbie, I made an exception. I am a sucker for 80s Barbie dolls, so that played a factor. But most of it was the fact that other than a few plugs on the front of her head that had been cut, this doll was in really great shape. Her body is pretty sturdy, her face paint is flawless, and what hair had not been cut was like new after a boil wash. So I took some leftover "Blondlicious" hair I had from re-rooting Alison (Cool Times Barbie), and I used it for this girl. It isn't a match by any means, but when re-rooting, I try a more thrifty approach. I use donor hair from dolls that had hair cuts like this girl, and when I do buy hair from online, I try to go for very versatile shades. So this lady now has lovely highlights that frame her face. I'm really glad I could save her, and she is honestly one of the prettiest 1980s dolls in my collection!
My second Fun-to-Dress Barbie, in the middle, lived a much better life previously. When I found her, she was an outlier in the "Teresa lot" of 2016. By this I mean that most of the dolls from this lot were from the 90s or early 2000s. Only Island Fun Ken, Fun-to-Dress Barbie, and 1977 Fashion Photo Barbie, as well as a few post 2010 dolls, were not from the 90s. When I first saw this doll, I thought she sort of looked like Animal Lovin' Barbie, although I knew that she wasn't. I spent a long time trying to figure out who she was. And then it hit me--she looked exactly like my other 1987 Fun-to-Dress Barbie, but I noticed something odd about her eyes. They were different than my other doll's. She had one dot and one dash, whereas my first doll had two eye dots. Usually, Barbie dolls do not have eye dot variations. But I did some research on eBay, and confirmed using boxed photos of these dolls, that my new gal was indeed another Fun-to-Dress Barbie! She is even lovelier than my first doll (which is hard to believe). It's amazing how similar yet different they are from one another. I'll never stopped being surprised by all the beautiful variations of Barbies that were made in the 1980s!
Lady number three joined the family eight years later. The gal on the far right was purchased in October of 2024. My sister needed a shirt for a Halloween costume. Instead of purchasing a new one, we opted to have a look at the Salvation Army for a used shirt. While there, we of course made an obligatory stop in the toy section. It's more like a toy shelf, rather than a toy section. There were a few dolls that day, mostly newer ones in horrible shape. As I dug around one of the containers, I happened upon a 1987 Skipper body. This Fun-to-Dress Barbie's head was shoved onto it (she had that infamous "fat head" look about her as a result). That particular Skipper mold is always a treasure to find, since it is notoriously brittle. Even if Colleen didn't have a doll that needed it at the time, we knew it could come in handy for later. Plus, it was donning Party Teen Skipper pants and a B Active Fashions shirt. Instead of pulling Barbie's head off the body and tossing it into the pit below, we decided to rescue her. Otherwise, she'd probably end up in the trash. Besides being body-less, neglected, and dirty, I knew this gal would clean up wonderfully. I had an almost exact body match for her at home (it just has the printed "B" panties which aren't period accurate). After a day at the spa, this doll shaped up beautifully. In fact, I think she's in the best condition of the trio! I'm so glad she didn't meet a tragic fate in a landfill somewhere.

MANUFACTURER: Mattel
DOLLS IN PACK: Barbie, Kelly or Chelsea
MISSING ITEMS: Shoes
IMPORTANT NOTES: This set was marketed with Kelly or Chelsea dolls, however the outfit appears to be the same for both.
PERSONAL FUN FACT: I was truly hoping that this was a Chelsea dress when I discovered it floating around the "Crazy for Bratz Kidz Lot" of 2023. There were seven Bratz Kidz dolls, who could fit into this dress too. However, this ensemble didn't seem like it was MGA quality. It reminded me much more of late 2000s Barbie clothes, what with the glittery attached belt. There weren't any Chelsea dolls in the container, so that made it a tad more tricky to figure out what this was. After some digging, I realized that this came on the I Can Be Dentist Chelsea. It's super cheerful and darling, perfect for everyday wear. I never would have guessed it was sold in a dentist set. But then again, it's not like Chelsea would be wearing the dentist jacket. This is even cuter than the getup worn on the Dentist Kelly from 1997. I'm always thrilled to get my hands on Chelsea clothes, since Mattel made so few fashion packs for her over the years. There are also not many dolls produced with spare outfits either...so dressing used Chelsea dolls can be tricky.

You know, just when I'm thinking of coming back to flickr, they decide to force this black look with the sidebar on everyone. It looks like absolute shit on my screen and it's so hard to quickly find the info I usually look at (tags, other groups/streams it's in), so now I'm thinking of completely giving up this site.

Friday is generally date night for my husband Jamie & myself. Generally we go to live music, go dancing, or do something else fun. Tonight was a surprise date night for my husband who loves live music, his favorite singer being Samm Qendra. So as a surprise I had her come and sing for Jamie tonight for date night :). It was completely perfect as he wasn't expecting this great surprise. So happy that it all turned out so beautifully! She sang all his favorite songs plus a whole lot more. She is a completely gifted and amazing singer. I will be having her back again in the future!

Date nails during the early half of the 20th century were widespread on various roads. Most often, date nails indicated when the tie was treated at the factory before being laid by track gangs. The Santa Fe were yuge buyers of date nails, with the newest being stamped in 1969.
Here, a date nail dated for 1927 is embedded into a railroad tie at Colmor, NM. The Raton and Glorieta Subs are some of the last mainlines that feature date nails of this age.

It costs a fortune to look this trashy.

I could go onstage, unzip my pants, and hang my dick out, and people would think it was a statement about something.
"Marriage is this grand madness, and I think if people knew that, they would perhaps take it more seriously. The reason why there's operas and novels and pop tunes written about love is because it's such an extraordinary thing, not because it's commonplace, and yet that's what you're told, you grow up with this idea that it's the norm." U2 is sort of song writing by accident really. We don't really know what we're doing and when we do, it doesn't seem to help.
When I write, it's there. There's no staring at a blank page.
[about The Edge] He's an owl!
[talking about The Edge] And that's not always a given - that he would want to play guitar. He might be into keyboards this album, and you have Larry and Adam going "oh fuck, he's into the keyboards now. We'll never get a rock song out of him".
Look, I'm sick of Bono and I AM Bono.
It would be wrong for me to say, 'Yes, we can change the world with a song.' But every time I try writing, that's where I'm at. I'm not stupid. I'm aware of the futility of rock & roll music, but I'm also aware of its power.
I represent a lot of people [in Africa] who have no voice at all... They haven't asked me to represent them. It's cheeky but I hope they're glad I do.
The world is more malleable than you think. We can bend it into a better shape. Ask big questions, demand big answers.
I hate the idea of being in the UK Hall of Fame to be honest with you. We don't want to be in any Hall of Fame until we're retired or dead.
I know sometimes you shouldn't judge your audience by the fans you meet, especially if they're in a flowerbed in your garden at home but U2 fans are different, they're very humane.
Brian Wilson believes in angels. I do too and you only have to listen to the string arrangement of 'God Only Knows' for fact and proof of angels.

What about this idea of liberty? Not liberty for its own sake, but liberty for some larger end - not just freedom from oppression, but freedom of expression and worship. Freedom from want, and freedom from fear because when you are trapped by poverty, you are not free. When trade laws prevent you from selling the food you grow, you are not free. When you are dying of a mosquito bite for lack of a bed net, you are not free. When you are hungry in a world of plenty, you are not free. And when you are a monk in Burma this very week, barred from entering a temple because of your gospel of peace, it is an affront to the thug regime, well then none of us are truly free.
I'm the Fidel Castro of speechifying. We've got a few hours, don't we?
On visiting the White House: I'd like to think that I've always left the White House with more than I arrived. Not only budget commitments, cutlery, silverware, candelabras, one or two Bush family photos... OK, one Gilbert Stuart portrait of George Washington - it was in the bathroom, nobody could see-- I'll give it back.
The stage is but a platform shoe.
On receiving an honorary British knighthood: You have permission to call me anything you want - except sir, all right? Lord of lords, your demigodness, that'll do.
(On Live Aid (1985) (TV)) That day changed my life and started me on this incredible adventure, that is the possibility that our generation could be remembered for something other than the Internet ... the first generation to eradicate extreme poverty ... I want to spend the rest of my life doing that, the band mouth off and complain, but they support me.
[on Elvis Presley] Elvis' music has been my greatest inspiration.
