Friday afternoon Greg and I loaded up Handsome Dan and got on the road behind Vic and Chris to head over the Hurley and camp at Tyax Lake Lodge.
After stopping at Gun Lake to pick up Rich, we arrived, setup camp, feasted on some delicious burgers and beer and then all marvelled at how many stars were in the sky.
wednesday is date night around the brennan house and since the weather has been so nice we finally got a chance to eat dinner outside. food and wine at cafe europa on the patio. 50mm 1.8 and loads of lens flare.

PERSONAL FUN FACT: I spotted this unique My Scene Barbie at the local flea market in 2019. It was Memorial Day weekend to be more specific, and Colleen and I were eager to score some new plastic friends. We had not been able to go to the flea market in weeks due to the weather and a knee injury of mine. The two flea marketing days of that holiday weekend totally made up for the missed out weeks though. We came home with a crap load of stuff! Barbie was strewn on a table with a cluster of other dolls, including a selection of Monster High dolls. I noticed this gal, but surprisingly I didn’t think to nab her for 50 cents. I was far too distracted by the Monster High that were present, especially since other people seemed keen for them too. I’m so grateful that the man ended up letting us take all the dolls for just $2, when he realized that many were missing limbs. This Barbie is a wonderful addition to my slowly growing My Scene collection. I feel like I don’t always appreciate My Scene dolls as much as they deserve. As a kid they were overshadowed by Bratz, and as an adult, I’m easily distracted by other dolls if they are all on a table together. Of course, I am fond of them though--I always remember how Dad used to mistake My Scene dolls as being Bratz! This doll’s signature super curly hairdo is what makes her so special. I usually only see this style on Madison dolls (like my poor “1st Edition” gal who ended up being a body donor due to the hair loss and haircut she endured). Fortunately, I am far more aware of how to properly care for this hair type. It’s actually low maintenance if you know what you are doing. I have to say that she is probably the most unique looking My Scene Barbie in my collection, although my sentiment for my Masquerade Madness doll could never be touched!

Photo shows lawyer Inez Milholland Boissevain riding astride in the suffrage parade as the first of four mounted heralds. In her short life she shared with many of her fellow marchers a commitment to social reform. She joined organizations striving to improve the working conditions of children and the lives of African Americans. She was also a strong supporter of the shirtwaist and laundry workers. Three years after the parade, she collapsed and died at age thirty during a western suffrage lecture tour. At Christmas Island, a small community in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, it’s all about the postmark. The Christmas Island post office is now famous for bringing a festive feel to holiday cards around the world with wreath postmarks that say “Christmas Island.”
Postmistress Hughena MacKinnon has been delivering holiday cheer with the stamp since 1994. Ms. MacKinnon forwards holiday letters around the world after postmarking them with the famous holiday stamp.
“They add a little extra holiday flair,” said Canada Post spokeswoman Anick Losier.
“The stamp has been altered for 2010,” said Ms. MacKinnon. “They’ve added some extra decoration to the wreath [on the stamp].”
She said that during the summer months the post office receives around 100 letters a day, yet during the holiday season that number escalates to around 1,000.
Mail is sent through the office — with postage enclosed — to be stamped and forwarded, by the postmistress, around the world. To have your holiday cards postmarked, send your addressed cards with proper postage in a larger envelope, and address to:

PERSONAL FUN FACT: I've loved this outfit since the moment I pulled it out of a secondhand lot when I was about 12/13 years old. It was one of the first clothing items I got when we started to purchase entire lots of dolls at the flea market. I adored the teddy bear print, and it was clear to me that this vest went with the dress. Both have some of the same pink stitching. Plus, the dress on its own felt a tad incomplete without a vest or something over it. I recall that Colleen and I both played with this quite a bit. It was the sort of cute casual thing I liked putting my Sparkling Jasmine in. But it was also very classic 90s, which meant Colleen nabbed it for Becky or Jessica (Pet Doctor Barbie). I always wondered what it went to, and was pleased when I solved the mystery in 2010. I bought "The Ultimate Barbie Book" before I even began officially collecting dolls again. I made note of some of the dolls/clothes I owned while flipping through the pages. Sadly Barbie's teddy bear was never something I had. I can assure you that it would have been a very popular accessory if we had gotten our hands on it!
